Angry Worm Challenge Frustrations!

What the hell is the deal with this challenge? I never see any lost souls and the maddened spirits spawn way too fast. I don't know how you people are getting 1000 points but this mission is seriously pissing me off to no end.

Perhaps someone can offer some insight now how the physics of this mission work. I'm starting to average about 90ish points and open all the chambers, but there hasn't been a single lost soul spawn.

I tried it for fun yesterday, but the maddened spirit kept hitting me with 700 damage a strike and put me out of my misery pretty fast.

People are getting 1000 + points because they're using 55 monks and soloing maddened spirits, or whatever there own personal prefference is lol.

From just using the wurm i can average about 100 - 150 points per run, thats transforming back into a person to regain hp if i mess up and a spirit starts beating on me.

Thats just me though lol.

The lost souls are pretty rare too, ive only ever managed to kill a few, there really low levels though and give 7 or 8 points, i forget.

What has worked for me is, I wait around until I get 60 points so that all areas are open. Then I just tunnel around the map (The souls shouldn't catch you and you even have a speed boost ) until I find a Lost Soul.

The strat I use is to begin with the wurm and clear the starting area and hope enough greater infestations spawn there to get 60 points and kill the maddened spirits. I will then go look for lost souls. Sometimes I find two, other times I don't find any in 30-60 minutes runs or so. I switch between wurms if needed and will 55 if too many spirits chase me.

I can't seem to get my 5th armor piece. Chances decrease when you allrdy have 3-4 heros with the armor upgrade.

Although I like the uniqueness of this mission, I feel like playing a racing game last days, just to get that last armor piece. I was first going to stock up a few to sell, but I dislike that mission in the meantime. Some peeps wanne buy it for max 5k, so I can't be bothered to farm it for them and waste hours. They'll have to learn it themselves. I just wanne have that last piece and will never come back there again.

I usually manage to get 60 points and what I do is usually every once in a while I weaken a Greater Infestation to near death and I continue killing, also making sure he doesnt regen, and when the maddened spirit comes I just do a quick kill and then Im able to use all my skills on the maddenned spirit!

I think it only applies to the first area, but if your wormy is low on health just hop out n grab a new one: full energy, full health.

waka waka waka waka waka....

made it to 60 and tunneled for 30 minutes before a lost soul spawned. Way too rare, and even then there is only a % chance you will get the armor if you kill him. This seems impossible to do effectively without cheating by using a 55. The armor is beginning to not be worth the frustration this mission causes. It would take hours stacked on hours of mindless running in circles just to find those lost souls, and half the time they spawn in non worm areas that forces you to get off the worm in order to get to them, in which if you dont have sprint or some running skill the maddens come up and kill you before you can get another worm. By the time you find you first lost soul, you have about 5-6 maddened spirits on you ass and even with the spirit form they still deal 150 each and will kill you. They should makes spirit form grant you invincibility to maddened spirits for its duration and up the spawn rate of lost souls. As of now, this mission is a mindless and irritating grind. Getting the armors here is like standing on my lawn watching the grass grow, I've gotten to the point where I'd rather buy them off people than deal with this mess.

If you're going for a high score, you 55. If you want armors, you go around in a wurm and kill lost souls. The two are mutually exclusive.

2/9ths of the time - one location in the northwest corner, one location in the southeast.

There are few class combinations that don't have at least one speed buff, and you can always switch secondaries. Even without a speed buff you can run around in circles for a couple of minutes then head to the wurm spool.

When a lost soul spawns in an unlocked location (not entirely sure about locked), it stays in the same location until you kill it. It should take you only a few minutes to loop around the entire area checking the spawn locations.

Yep, that's pretty much how it is because you can stay at full health indefinitely. After about 100 points it's a race to see how long you can stay in the mission until you get bored and quit.

I've asked this multiple times and still haven't gotten an answer from anyone. Where are the Lost Soul spawn locations? This mission would be so much easier if I knew where to go =/.

I managed to get 161 points legit and an armor once...My strategy was to Tunnel up to a Greater Infestation once a Spirit spawned (after the first area) and use the skill that heals you for 500 if it hits a knocked down foe. This heals you, puts the infestation near death, and also starts to charge your knockdown. I did this for about 30 minutes, got a Lost Soul too.

BTW, Savio, I saw on like the 2nd-3rd day you had the high score of 300-400, was that legit with a wurm or 55ing? Just curious.

Maybe a stupid question but how does a worm tunnel?

That challenge reminds me of some other game...

Running from the ghosts... Eating the little dots for score boosts... eating the big dots to kill the ghosts... Come on, its a rip-off

Legit, it was also the most boring 3 hours of my life and I didn't get any armors that run (thank you Anet for not giving a reason for people to stay there). Probably the last "legit" score that'll ever be on the high scores, thanks to a few people. Oh well, I got my armors out of it, and I'm working on a guide for it and wurms in general. (Why? Because I can.)

5. Junundu Tunnel
5 energy, 30 second recharge
Stance. For 10 seconds, you move 66% faster. This skill ends if you use a Skill. When this Skill ends, all adjacent foes are knocked down for 3 seconds.

Also for reference:

3. Junundu Bite
1 second cast, 8 second recharge
Skill. Target touched foe is struck for 375 piercing damage. If you strike a knocked down foe, you gain 500 Health.

The Tunnel-Bite combo is how you stay alive in the later part of the game. You can hang around indefinitely barring any human weaknesses like using the bathroom and sleeping.

@AlienFromBeyond: I'd get a pic to you but I'm still working on my guide. Should be up in a day or two.

My highest score = 122
Played time = 4 1/2 hours
Number of Armors dropped = 1

Compared to the other challenge missions, this one is way too frustrating.
I really hope they increase the armor drop ratio in the future, as I do not look forward to playing hundreds of hours of pac-man.
