Default Nightfall Pop-Culture References

After seeing all the pop-culture references, I've decided to make a list to gather them all.

List so far:
3 Stooges (credited to Dragasa)
Drakes on a Plain
No Sunspear, I expect you to die (From James Bond I think)
Enadiz the Hard Headed (Zidane)
The Great Escape

Add more to the list!!

Goldfinger, to be precise :

(A laser is about to cut Bond in half.)
Bond: I think you made your point. Thank you for the demonstration.
Goldfinger: Choose your next witticism carefully Mr. Bond, it may be your last.
Bond: Do you expect me to talk, Goldfinger?
Goldfinger: No Mr. Bond, I expect you to die!

Or something like that, anyway.

My favorite was from Factions actually...More Cowbell. Love that quest. I've got a fever and I need my magical cowbell to wear it off. Arguably one of the best SNL skits ever.

I doubt they are references to GQ. "Never Surrender" and "Never Give Up" is normal to say, and i bet that tons of movies, games, novels etc have used those lines.

there's a quest called " The Show Must Go On" where you find a play titled "Springtime for Varesh". most likely a reference to The Producers and the play "Springtime for Hitler".

They are commonly used phrases. Which is why inside jokes are inside jokes. If you haven't seen the way GQ spoofed the phrase, its just normal. If you have, you probably got a good giggle the first time it hit you.

But that's just my two cents

Wasn't "springtime for Hitler" originally from a Peter Sellers movie?

And the phrase "Never give up, never surrender" is definitely from Galaxy Quest

Tohnen Jonesh in that zone with the palace/theater thing. Not really from anything in particular, but funny nonetheless.

I believe that was actually a Gene Wilder movie. Though I can't recall the name of the original movie(even though it was on television last week )

actually the movie The Producers was originally released in 1968 by Mel Brooks. it was made into a play on 2001 and the film was remade in 2005 . Gene Wilder starred in the original, but not Peter Sellers, although i found this on wikipedia:

"Peter Sellers was a huge fan and appeared on Michael Parkinson's BBC1 chat show Parkinson in a Nazi helmet reciting the entire "Hitler was a better painter than Churchill" speech."

Yes a lot of the inscriptions are songs or movie quotes for example

"To the Pain" from Princess Bride when Wesley is telling humperdink about removing all of his facial features except his ears.

Many many others. I think it's great. I loved the Drakes on the Plain reference

I can't believe no one caught/added the Star wars references!?!?!

<<<Spoiler Alert>>>

Great escape mission, dressed in Kournan clothing (if you bring Zhed along with you)

You: <Hero> hand me those manacles. Here, Zhed, put these on..
Zhed: Rooaaar!
You: Ok, <Hero> YOU put these on him...
Hero: It's ok, Zhed, Ithink I know what he has in mind.

Classic.

Theres a slightly more subtle reference when Koss, Tahlkora and Melonni get together on the bridge in Joko's bone palace. Very reminiscant of the Return of the Jedi scene where Luke admits he's Leias sister.

Or maybe I'm just a huge Star Wars geek and read into that one way too much
