I just beat shiro on first try...with all henchi/heroes... after sitting in gates of madness getting scorned and mocked for "not knowing what im doing" cuz i dont have SP or whatever...this is very satisfying. I dont know what all you guys are crying about. I just took Ss Olias and glim mark koss. (stance warrior myself) I tried to take a screenie but as soon as he dies the screen goes black.

thank you arena net for a challenging mission.

I was worried the whole game could be played with my eyes closed...(so easy with heroes)

i am having trouble either getting into a decent group or performing it with heroes/henchies myself, I don't have SS or SV, had to buy Wild Blow and a few other things for my heroes and nearly went broke.

I am having more trouble getting there than most people it would seem. I have always been bad with aggro and hate being the one who has to pull (as often am told to do in PUGs til they see me do it lol). I realize that the flaws are on my side though and think that the mission should remain as hard as it is.

I just wish that it was easier to get a group a paragon, or for that matter as anyone who isn't one of the "keys to victory". Perhaps I need a better para-build right now I am running a motivation heavy build used for keeping refrains up and support healing.

Again as hard as this mission is for me, I would not like to see it nerfed, I have been at it for 3 days now and just am hoping to get on to finish the game sometime soon heh.

i got a build to pwn the mission it will require you to have one more player of any profession... after spending much time this is what I did....
I was playing warrior

player1 warrior - glads defense, penetrating chop, penetrating blow, bonetti's defense, wary stance, endure pain rebirth

tahlkora - glimmer of light, dwaynas kiss, etherial light, protective spirit, gaurdian, shield of absorbtion, healing seed, res sig

dunkoro - glimmer of light, dwaynas kiss, etherial light, protective spirit, gaurdian, inspired hex, healing seed, res sig

Olias/master of whispers - reckless haste, spoil victor, price of failure, spirit of failure, enfeeble, archane echo, res sig

Player 2 [anything]

tahlkora - mend condition, reverasal of fortune, sheild of absorbtion, gaurdian, spirit bond, divine boon, Mantra of Recall, Res Sig

Zhed - Meteor Shower [dont use on shiro], rodgorts invocation, Liquid flames, fireball, archane echo, glyph of energy, glyph of lesser energy, res sig

Olias/master of whispers - reckless haste, spiteful spirit, price of failure, spirit of failure, enfeeble, bip, res sig

that should work have warrior tank.. shiro can do his 16 hits per second and get pwned by glads defense

i totally agree with op, this mission is way too hard, its impossible. shiro is lvl31 ffs!!!

I was expecting this mission to be hard but it was cake... shiro was so weak. Note that all his skills are based on countering you. Essentially Shiro is pretty much a super glads defense wammo. Don't believe me? Look for yourself:

Battle Scars:
Super Vengeful Weapon

Against Impossible Odds:
Super Glads Defense

Riposting Shadows:
Super Riposte

Shiro:
Super Noob

If you have having trouble killing Shiro its because you are probably all mobbing him and standing within range of Impossible Odds. Seriously without you mobbing him to fuel his attacks he is nothing. Example:

I ran stoneflesh aura and armor of earth and Shiro was hitting me for 0's.

~HOW TO KILL SHIRO~

Shiro is a stance tank, everything that he uses is a stance.

Battle Scars: The more you mob shiro the more he vamps off of you with every attack. Pressure shiro under battlescars and you just heal him and hurt yourself.

Against Impossible Odds: Shiro reflects a ton of AoE damage and conditions as he is hit.

Riposting Shadows: Shiro ripostes with a double strike and if it hits this skill instantly recharges, meaning if you keep hitting him he will keep hitting you... or someone close.

So what stops these skills?

WILD BLOW and WILD THROW

Make sure someone brings them. Because these two skills will 100% shutdown Shiro. Wild Blow on a war is nice because its easy spam.

~WHY PEOPLE DIE~

1.) The continually pelt shiro with high damage skills while he is under battlescars, charging the vampiric powers of his weapon. Shiro then vamps the monk and gg.

2.) People crowd Shiro while someone keeps triggering Impossible Odds and wipes the party. Think of Odds as a Glads Defense that hits anyone near.

~HOW NOT TO DIE~

Kill the lich first, hes a joke. IGNORE SHIRO and activate all the shrines. He will follow you like a lost dog and deal sad damage. Without anyone attacking him to power his stances, hes nothing. So take your time and shrine away. Once you got the bonus down, turn on shiro and have the casters mow him down with nukes/hexes/degen. Shiro will then activate one of his 3 stances, and this is when someone comes in and hits him with wild blow, turning him into a harmless kitten. Wildblow recharges in 4, so everyone wails on shiro and when he stances nail him with wild again. Rinse and repeat till he is dead. Once in awhile shiro will get a couple of good hits in with Riposting Shadows but it should be nothing your monks can't handle. Shiro wont stop interrupts so cast aegis and GG nothing to worry about.

Shiro is only "hard" because people dont understand what he is. They crowd him and attempt to mob him quick, but this is what shiro wants. Shiro does not kill you, you kill yourself. All shiro does is react to and reflect damage. If the party is taking big damage, someone is screwing up (by standing in the odds or trading blows while he is under battle scars).

I will say it again.

Shiro is a noob glads defense stance tank. Treat him like one and you will win.

If you party is taking huge damage, just stop attacking him. He cant deal any damage to you without someone hitting him to trigger his stances. Hes just like one of those RA wammos that stands in the middle of the map with glads defense and riposte. Seriously when I got him to no life he started running like a noob wammo too. I can't see why he is "hard."

Honestly I was disappointed. There were all these people complaining about how hard he was, and I get to him and hes a joke compared to Varesh.

good guide but for some of us Varesh was a complete joke

Honestly though I just hate the long mission to get to Shiro, if I didn't have to go through that each time I'd hopefully have him beat by now.

Im an SS necro but cant do this after 5 attempts with real people. We didn't even make it to the gates. I was always the last person standing too with 2 mobs all around me. Needless to say I didn't last long. Some people are real idiots agro'ing everything that moves... Or they leave once they've died for the first time.
I guess I'll try this with hero's and maybe a fellow guild member (warrior)

Found this mission unimaginative, tedious and boring. "lol let's combine Hell's Precipice with the last Factions mission and make it the second to last NF mission 'cause we're out of ideas, yay" ... Watch one of the endgame missions for ch4 be to fight Abaddon, Shiro, Varesh, Lich, Evil King Jalis, Random Level 35 Peasant of Doom, and Trogdor. By chapter 7, they'll be something akin to the Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny, with GW characters. <_<

Rant aside, I found pretty much all of this mission's difficulty to be in how well you pull. Bad pulls and wipes tend to happen often near the rifts. The boss fight at the end is simple with Wild Blow.

How we did it:

First, yea we were getting messed up (Well, they were, I was an MM just hanging back spamming deathly swarm). But then one of the warriors (1/2) suggested that only 1 warrior take aggro of Shiro (Thanks to IO skill), and it worked.

Sure we had 2 warriors and a sin (LOL the sin died like 8 times - Pwned?), but it worked out on first try (My first try, not sure on theirs)

Activate shrines in mission before attacking to Shiro. Mission was designed so that when you activate shrines Shiro is weak against your party because all those blessings.

Impossible odds is not anything like Gladiators Defense. Gladiators Defense requires the enemy to attack you to deal damage. Impossible Odds does Short Range AoE which does damage the second he activates it.

I tried the shrines the first 5 or 6 attempts. My group finally killed without using the blessings. The blessings are the bonus so why would it make it easier? Shiro recieves the blessings too.

the noobs way to hench shiro is to bring 4 monks, 2 melee (1 or 2 with wild blow), a necro and an other. anything will do, i took eve.

the mm takes SS, price of failure and spirit of failure. have the melee stand a little way apart from eachother and flag your hench just outside of spell range so they need to run in a little to cast. 99% of the time shiro will be out of spell range to use his teleports this way, and with the melee standing beside rather than on top of eachother, you will more than likely body block his teleport and continue tanking. spam wild blow, order your necro to keep the hexes on as much as possible. then its just a waiting game.

this method takes the smallest amount of specialist skills possible. you could even switch out SS for insidious parasite and not need a single elite.

I don't get why people don't understand that Impossible Odds ONLY triggers if he hits YOU. There's two easy ways to deal with this:

1.) Have only one tank on Shiro at all times when killing him with the rest of the party hanging back. (easy)
2.) Use Protector's Stance, Aegis, and WoM to keep Shiro from hitting you and your party members. (a lot harder actually, you have to deal with Riposting Shadows as well)

u can do this without real people.... as hard it was for me to believe .... its actually true....

you need two hex necros because one of shiros skills can't remember if its impossible odds or battle scars automatically removes one hex off of him. So to keep the hexes coming you need atleast two necros.... i followed a guide someone else posted earlier on this thread and it worked beautifully... and ofcourse TAKE WILD BLOW!

battle scar does nothing other than life stealing, impossible odds removes conditions but i dont think it removes hex too
