Already answered, but, you can get these heros with any character, as long as you have the campaign: Olias is available to any of your characters that can get to LA as long as you have Prophecies, and the sin is available to any character who can make it to Kaineng Center. This assumes you have Nightfall. If you own all 3 campaigns linked, then your Tyrian characters, Canthan characters, and Elonan characters can all get these 2 "unique" heros.

My question is do you guys know what real grinding is? I personally don't mind having to take two hours to get a few thousand points to rank up. Compared to other MMO's such as EQ where it took a month to get one item in the epic quest this is a breeze.

Default thought I'd chime in as a 'hardcore casual player'

I've started digging in, I play hard but don't have as much time as I'd like, I've focused on something else

On the heroes, it's crazy you get a level 2 Koss, and level 6 Dunkoro and level 8 Melonni are similiarly silly. C'mon at least level 10 here - people are coming from LA (or Kaineng which would be more nutty), sheesh.

A BIG part of the problem is the rune shortage and they dont get their first 15 attrib bonus until level 10 (not sure when second 15 happens yet) so being effective at their job/using 'real' gear is challenging to be sure.

Still having quite a bit of fun, but in effect they've made my hero choice already for my Cantha folk -

My Warrior uses Olias N15, Tahlkora Mo12, and Acolyte @11
My Ele uses Olias N15, Tahlkora Mo12, and Acolyte @11
[Any other Canthan] will go the same route to start as well [obviously later adds may mix it up]
(I haven't nabbed the Assassin yet which may become an option, I image A15).

Tahlkora starts at twice the level, many more attrib points, just as flexible as Dunkoro.
The Acoytes @11 also have that 15pt bonus and aren't that crazy low.
Olias - Necros are quite flexible and at 15 reconfig as desire before you even head over.

And you keep getting higher level choices, so outside Melonni if I want a Dervish, I may not look back when coming from Elona.

So I wanted to more point out a side-effect, that they've driven some decisions based on levels they're available at for the Cantha imports. Elonians its practically the opposite - their heroes are close/the same/higher level than the new adds, and you've equipped and tweaked them along the way.

There is my Cantha objection - OK don't make them 20, but not making them 10/no +attrib yet/rune availabilty bites means you leave a bunch of these chars in the dust coming in from Elona - at least those 3. Suspear points for them - well I havent gotten nearly that far yet.

I gotta confess I don't understand the grinding comments. I took my Canthan necro over as an MM, grabbed Koss, Dunkoro, and Olias and did the quests necessary to get to the Consulate Docks mission. By then Koss was already 5th to 7th level (don't remember exactly) and wasn't dying at all. I had equipped him with axe skills, watch yourself, and Defy Pain, Dunkoro as a straight WoH healer, and Olias as a SS. Went through the Consulate Docks mission with guildies and didn't even take Koss with me. Then grabbed a few henchies (healer, Devona, paragon, and dervish) to go with the three heroes and took off from the Yohlon Coast up to the Sunspear Sanctuary. By the time I had done the quests to get through the Command Post and such and explored over to Dajkah Inlet via Venta Cemetary (talking to priests and killing everything along the way) she had about 1300 sunspear points already. Her Koss is now 18th level, Dunkoro 19th, and Olias long since 20th. And there are still several quests and much more exploring to do. And neither the henchies or the heroes had a single death until I ran into a rough patch somewhere near Nundu bay. Could be that I just had a lot of minions to absorb the damage, but it was fun and sure didn't seem like a grind to me. Couple of hours of play and everything was new. I had a ball. And even without the suspear points requirement, I'd have to do it all anyway.

The only thing frustrating about it was when I lagged.

Anyone have ideas how to continus getting rep to 15k beside quest? Since quest only give such little compared to 15k target you need to reach...

I'll second this question, I've done all the quests I could find, I'm at 7700ish SSP, and I'm as far as Gates of Desolation. None of the preists give me any hunts anymore.

Are there hunts in the sulfurous wastes somewhere? Repeatable quests anywhere?

If you play the game, and follow the storyline. Using your heroes, getting bounties for the zones you are in - there is no grind.

I had 1,800 SPP when I reached the Sanctuary. Did the following quest and over 700 SPP from the bounties.

I haven't gone into any zone more than twice - and that was due to quests.

Bottomline: when the term grind starts flying around LIKE IT IS.... then it has been introduced to the game. Some don't mind grind and some enjoy it, and yet others hate it. BUT IT IS here regardless of comparissons to other grind intense games.

I just find it amusing that in all the time the OP has spent moaning on this forum, he could have got on with it and been done

If you hate 2 and a half hours of killing things, spread it over a week, do half an hour a day, while talking on the phone/ Watching tv, its hardly difficult

I was possitively impressed by the fact my character arrived to Elona quite early in the storyline (so I wouldn't miss too much comparing to Elona-borns), but soon came a spoiler for my happiness.. Firstly, heroes that joined me right after getting to Kamadan were same lvls as Elonian characters get them to join... 2 lvl Koss? I thought "omg, Ill HAVE to train them and it will take ages... $#%#". Ive decided to carry on with the primaries and rely on other people heore's if they are required for mission. I got to the continent, secured Sunspears Sancuary... and BANG - "A Hero Shall Lead Them" (or smthng like that) primary quest - get Sunspear General rank. Quick look at GuildWiki and... WTF?! 2500 points? I had about 200 than from following primary mission. For Gods' sake, Im Tyrian born! I havent been following the storyline from the beggining like Elonian borns, I dont get a chance to get sunspear points all the way I lvl up from mobs at Istani! When they get to Sunspear Sanctuary, they usually have above 1k sunspear points already (or even more), and what are non-elonians supposed to do? Go farm 2k mobs on the continent? I felt like in a wrong game, honestly...

Really, I think that quest should have lowered requirements for non-elonian characters, its just sick... I know I have some quests around Sunspear Sanctuary that give Sunspear Promition Points, but I doubt they give close to 2k points... Its really unfair as it means extra farming for non-elonians (as Elonians can get sunspear points following storyline at Istan) and is REALLY irritating... Its not Lineage, for F.. sake....

Other thing is that, I dont find giving non-elonian characters the heroes at lvl 2 (or 8 even) quite fun because of the same reason - its really EXTRA work for them to lvl them up, because - unlike for Elonians who lvl up ALONG with their heroes - newcomers from other continents have to dedicate extra time to get their heroes to reasonable lvls. How about them being 11 lvl from the start? Or 15? Noone is ment to get to Elona at his lvl anyways, Canthans reach Kaineng near lvl 20, Tyrians should be around 15 by than and they have to face 24-28 lvl mobs at the quest... Lvl 2 Koss and others at lvl 8... Uh no, Id rather not...

What are your oppinions on this matter?
Please keep it flameless
As far as i know, it wont take ages. Unless you describe ages as: Playing through the game normally

If you think that following only primary quests is the way to finish this game, then you ARE in the wrong game. This is no grind, and you get the Sunspear points for PLAYING THE GAME. I completed the game with no grind, and had tons of fun doing the side quests. You start as a lvl 20, but Koss and the other heroes are still newbies. As a Tyrian/Canthan character you can finish the game WAY before Elonians.

Point

You flipping head.

Grinding is grinding is grinding. Two hours could be alot of time doing something frivolous and pointless, especially if they have limited time to play. We are glad you don't have a life and sit around playing MMOs all day, but not everyone has said luxury.

Ooh, isntead of wasting 2 hours of my time in one day, I have wasted a week of play time. Huzzah!
Idiots.

Mr T bot, before throwing out insults to everyone who dont agree with you, then maybe you should think about your own post?

Two hours is NOTHING compared to other games, and those two hours can you do by COMPLETING QUESTS. 2 hours have nothing to do with "no life", so please... Act like you actually know what you're saying.

Half an hour a day is not wasting a week of play time. If you dont like playing the game, then quit. 2 HOURS IS NOTHING - AND IS NOT EVEN GRIND.

It's a requirement that takes a good deal of time and is required to advance further in the game. I don't care if it's nothing compared to other games, this is Guild Wars, Not EQ, EQ2, WoW, DAoC, UO, AO, AC, AC2, Lineage I/II, etc.. Name one other thing in this game that takes 2+ hours.. Elite Missions, and thats about it. People complained about 'gated content' in Factions, at least in factions you only had to do simple quests, So now I have to do 2+ hours of grinding for 8/9 Characters? Not Something I can honestly say I'm looking forward to doing in the slightest. Hell, I got bored working on the 1,000 remaining on my first character there after doing quests upto about 1,500 points.

Dougal said it very well indeed. Took my Ele over from Tyria and basically just started from Kamadan and did all the little bits I could find. Wasn't really needed and gave me VERY little SPP but it tells the story. Got onto the mainland and by following the Quests given I reached Castellan by the time I got to the Bazaar.

No Grinding at all, walk into an area as given by a quest, clear the area and move on. You don't need to explore the whole area though but if you run in only to kill a certain group and then just redo that, well no wonder you see it as grinding

The only grinding part that I do see coming, is for those of us who want to max those titles

I will give you my opinion on this Tyrians and Canthans should be exempt from this as well Tyrians are the Chosen ones.It was apperent that Elonians didn't ascend so getting these points should count towards that.I don't like farming for all these points just to be able to do missions and I would have to say that heros for Tryians and Canthans should be at lvl 15 for starters.I feel as if I am lvling a pet as a Ranger or /R.

It is not only that it is that we mostly have more than one char. to but through the game and think of those with more than 1 account.I much preferred the way it was done in Factions when Tryians first got there.

I'm not sure that this thread is really going anywhere positive. The definition of grinding is something that can be debated till we all turn blue...
