Default Making the best use of prophecies + NF

I just got prophecies today, afer having played nightfall for a few weeks

I didnt really feel like i needed a new game, since i still have lots to do in nightfall (currently at 60% explored and 8/20 missions) but i found it really cheap so i bought it

What should i do now ? Should i complete the prophecies campaign first, then return to nightfall ? I heard you can get several free skills from quest and mission rewards in prophecies ? And i have unlocked the major advantage/difference between the 2 games (heroes) its better for me to do prophecies now or ?

Link your account and take your Nightfall characters to Tyria.

I'm in the Desert right now (difficulty like early mainland in Nightfall).
My Dervish thinks it's almost like home, with all the sand around.
And most enemies cannot counter the Dervish, so I'm working fast on my Protectors title

Pre Searing is a wonderfull place, you should start a character there at least once.
But you will find out you will not level at the same speed as Nightfall.

You could also start a new character in Prophecies and play it half the time.
The other half you play your Nightfall character.
You then experience the difference and can decide which you like the most.
And you keep progress on your Nightfall character, that's also important (for me at least).

Olias is really nice. Use him as an MM and you can steamroll through everything.

I thought they removed enemy leveling, thats the impression i got from that thread ?

How would i go about aquiring heroes for my prophecies character ?
I was thinking of restarting the game with a prophecies character instead
My NF character has done 8/20 missions, 60% explored, 2 pieces of 15k armor and 7 or so heroes, + 6 captured elite skills

It seems it's still possible to level there, just takes ages to do.
If you don't want the title, just exit pre when you want (and think you are ready).

You can get the first hero (Olias) at Lions Arch, but you need to fight some lvl 20's for that.
For the other heroes, you 'just' travel to Elona and there they are (you get the first 4 when you do the first quest).
And you get a ranger/ele with an other quest.
The rest is the same as Nightfall.

You can restart in Prophecies, but i'd keep the NF character.

i decided to stick with my NF monk

played through the first prophecies area first though, to watch the (rather anticlimactic) cut scene where ascalon got destroyed

I happened to stumble across a prophecies mission list however, and it seems the mission i have done so far in prophecies, where i needed to protect some guy doing an incantation from an oncoming horde of undeads, was mission # 8

its a bit odd the quest taking you from Nightfall and to prophecies puts you in the middle of the campaign ?

Probably D'Alessio Seaboard mission.

No, it's not strange that you ended up there.
The events before Lion's Arch are 'historical' missions from the NF perspective.
As are the missions on the island in NF for Tyrian and Cathan (Factions) characters. It has something to do with the general timeline in Guildwars.
In my manual, it's on page 26.
Furtermore, the earlier missions do not give skill points to NF characters, afaik. And not to Tyrian players who join up with characters from other campaigns (if that's even possible).

You can play the earlier missions, you just have to run/fight to them.
That should not be too hard with lvl20 heroes.
You need a map to get to those missions if you have never been there before.
Or you could just walk east all the time, but that could take some extra time.

Aha

no idea how to get to ascaron, my journeys so far has just led me west west west, but its not a high priority i guess. The prophecies missions are largely lacking any form of explanation and storyline, and cutscenes, so it doesnt seem to be much point in absolutely having to do them in order

they make more sense when you start in prophecies in pre-searing then to ascalon, etc. imagine starting nightfall on the 6th mission and not knowing anything that happened before that. kind of the same thing.

Just remember, free skills for quests after Kryta (Lion's Arch, and a little place east of LA, but North of the City of Kryta - in a swamp).

The story in LA starts off with you befriending the White Mantel. The story prior to that is about the beasts called The Char. There isn't much of a link to them, only if you go indepth of the history of Tyria (prior to Pre-Searing) will you see how everything starts to link up and the story takes shape.

I have all three games linked but I spend most of my time in Tyria. Probably for the reason its so much like home to me. I've spent more time there than any other of the GW games. I would suggest as others have to making a Tyria character and start out in pre-searing. Its by far my favorite place to start a new character even if the experience earned is not much. You'll probably get to about lv8 and become bored with it and move on.

I took my factions ritualist from Cantha to LA and then made the long hike back to Ascalon. It was pretty easy but by far WAY easier when I did it with my Nightfall Dervish. Heroes exist now and they are a blast. I collected Olias and turned him into an MM and marched back to Ascalon. Its pretty easy with lv 20 heroes lol. And even though I have the whole thing memorized its pretty easy to get there. No way to get lost. You'll just head over the mountains instead of continuing the game in the other direction. Most places only have one portal in and another on the opposite side for out.

Right now my ritualist is still at LA with everything before that point complete and cleared. My dervish on the other hand has everything complete and cleared to Fen. She's fun to play and those heroes which I have not gotten on my Ritualist yet fricken rock. And I'll agree with what was said earlier that the desert is a lot like elona... for obvious reasons lol it is like home.
