Default Fast Levelling!

I normally don't have a need to level quickly because I enjoy the game play and general course of the game, but after having my frequent fits of indecisiveness (which results in deleting characters to remake slightly different ones), I've learned a fast way to get to 18..in just a couple hours.

Now, i'm not sure if this is known, frowned upon, repeated continuously here (search doesn't work), or if it's kept quiet for fear of getting nerfed by anet/ncsoft...but here is what I've found as my way of getting to lvl 18 in just a couple hours..(with the help of about 2k in cash prior)

Create Character, run outside of town, get your first job quests done, see Devona, get your second job quest done, and just before lvl 3 (after maybe 20 minutes of securing your jobs), get back to ascalon and go to post-searing (hopefully bypassing that stupid pvp match that wastes so much time).

Once inside Post-Searing Ascalon, get just a couple quests done from tydus and zain, then with your lvl 3 character, run to Piken solo (which is quite easy..easier with a henchie group you can use as meat from the two or three charr that pose a threat to you). From Piken (here's the only thing that takes time), you should be well under your first hour of play, Get your cash (2k will do) and pay for a run to Lion's Arch.

Once arriving in Lion's Arch..hopefully under 90 minutes of total character time..go outside the city, talk to the NPC (Damaris) on the right next to Mehnlo, Cynn, Aiden, and Devona. Let them finish their dialogue with each other, then talk to the NPC with the green arrow..then talk to Devona to start the "THE ASCALON SETTLEMENT" quest...and away you go scouring the immediate map. You should have been without henchies or a party before doing this.

With these very durable and quick killing and healing "allies" you can quickly dispatch the fire imps, slowly dispatch the tengu groups, and easily take out gipsie ettins and mergoyles and skales on that map..and use the whole map while killing everything in sight and watch the levels fly! Getting to lvl 10 from level 3 is like 20 or 30 minutes..but you'll likely need to rezone at LA and restart that quest by talking to Devona to get a fresh map of mobs to move from lvl 10 onward. All the while making sure NOT TO let your group talk to Captain Greywind at the Ascalon settlement. In fact, stay clear of the gates..and maybe go down the beach where there's always a boss or two worth x2 or x3 of the normal exp you're getting per mob.

Anyway, after an hour of that you'll be creaping up on lvl 16-18 and you'll have gobs of attribute points (unless you adjust them along the way), and plenty of HP and Energy that will assist you in moving through Ascalon once your return and resume those early Ascalon quests!

I wish I kept the exact time of my 1-18 levelling spree I did two days ago, but it was something like 2 hours and 35 minutes..give or take. In short, don't EVER pay a power leveller for something you could easily do in under 3 hours. Put those losers out of business!

And if you don't have the 2k cash beforehand to get to LA, then work for it in ascalon..it doesn't take that long to get 2k. If you're really lucky, you'll get that LA run for free, or very cheap!

True, my apologies. I had intended to make it a question by asking if someone knows a faster way to level. i think I stayed away from the question because I believed it would be a negative influence for those who dont' appreciate the game play course and who want to just quickly rush through the game.

Anyway, farming or levelling related section would be fine.

I definitely agree though if you have a Prophecies character, this is what I tend to do and it usually takes a lot less time.

Go post as early as you can. Get a guildie to run you to LA (free). Take the quest and go over to Cantha. Buy a few scrolls. Grab some henchies and go outside the Marketplace and let the henchies do all the work. You get XP, henchies kill....what could be better? I am pretty sure it is just as fast and probably even faster than the whole original way posted. Just a thought.

Better if you have factions:

Get to cantha, leave kaineng without henchies. Talk to menhlo and his gang, go up the stairs. Move along for a while, then turn right, down the stairs towards the place where the drunken master quest take place (dont have it active because the afflicted wont spawn). There's a couple of guards there who will be fighting the afflicted, just make sure cynn, menhlo and jamei get going at them.

If you want you can also move on to the next part of the "welcome to cantha" quest and pick up the assassin and the ritu. Then head north and kill more afflicted.

Short run, lots of xp because the enemies are high level.

Zone and repeat.
