Well in the past two weeks I have noticed some threads that state that Anet changed Gwen so she doesn't give the Tapestry Shred anymore. Well this is false because today I thought it would be a good idea to test this and of course I was right and it is still possible to get the Tapestry Shred. I chose to post this to combat the rumors that state otherwise. Some of you may have already known this, but I just wanted to make sure everyone knows the truth.

Since it is a quest item, I would have to say that it could possibly have to do with a quest in C4.

Gwen gave me the tapestry shred in pre-searing however knowing that this so far has not led anywhere in the games future I didn't keep it but instead dropped it into the in-game waste basket. I've now entered post-searing and found her broken flute again which I have placed in storage. On the off chance that ArenaNet IS going to do something with Gwen I wish I had kept the tapestry shred now. I read that you can find a preserved flower and Gwen's mother as a ghost. I never did run across the mother pre-searing this game though I think I did once in an earlier game.

Q: Is there somewhere post-searing where I can find the tapestry shred? Or...? If they are only found pre-searing is there any way I can aquire one?

Well, who knows if it works, but you can pass the tapestry shred through storage to another character. Just build a new toon and go through pre-searing and get the shred.

Now the question is, does it have to be with the toon that earned it or the one that holds it?

Ratsneve there is no where in post-searing where you can get the tapestry shred. So if you want to get a new shred you will probably have to make a new toon in pre.

Cad I think it is the toon that holds it.

hmm.. i think all of gwens items (i personally have 10 of ea item dealing with gwen on my storage account) will be in ch4. I have said they will be in the next chapter since ch.1. This time I am almost sure. What proof you ask? Well, i've done some research and most of what i've found say that the next chapter will be called "Eyes of the North" (or something like that). So..
Guild Wars: Eyes of the North. If you take out "of the" .. the first letter of each word spells GWEN. Coincedence? I think not!!

I also tested this with a brand new character last weekend and had no luck at all. I wasn't able to get the shred after several attempts and many many flowers. Perhaps it is some sort random bug?

you need to give her all her stuff, meaning the flute+a new one, a new cape(bought from merchant) and flowers. as far as i know that's when you get the shred.
