Shiro is incredibly easy to beat if you have a Monk with "You're All Alone!".

You people may laugh, but I'm being serious this time.

JR approves.

I don't get it. RoT... I rolled through it with henchmen. So long as you don't do stupid stuff (aggro 9 patrols at once, try to tank Impossible Odds with your whole party, etc) it's actually pretty hard to die.

If it takes you 8 hours per mission, you really need to get better at the game, and no that is not an insult.
Well Rot is not about your skills, it's mostly about your LB level. My group got owned horribly when I first arrived therewith a level 2, but now with level 5, I can nuke most of those demons.
And it's truly hard to pass GoM if you don't have a well organized team.

I've completed the game twice with r1 LB, so it is about skill. GoM is a very easy mission. Getting to shiro + lich is the hardest part. Fighting shiro + lich is very easy. Take out lich first. Shiro is nothing without IO. When fighting shiro, anti melee. What's hard about that?

I didn't say you CAN'T complete these missions WITHOUT high LB levels, but with this it will be much easier, especially against torment creatures. When you are soloing with hero/henchman, fighting 2-4 rain of terror plus Word of Madness, if you can not nuke them down or shut down their skills, you get nuked and shut down(I don't have Faction).
Shiro Tagachi DOES have Impossible Odds during that mission, if you don't have break stance or Anti melee skill you will have a hard time. The reason I think it's hard because you have to clean a few groups before bosses, they are not hard but if you are not careful it could cause wipe, if you wipe at Shiro you will have to clean these mobs again.

I didn't mean he doesn't have it, I meant he doesn't use it when he has high health, which is the reason you should take out Lich first.

I don't see what's so hard about that mission. All my characters I beat the mission by (at the latest) the second try. If anything, I'd like ANet to make it harder, which is why I'm glad they're adding hard mode, since the regular game is far too easy. I was only LB rank 2 when I beat the mission, and it really wasn't hard.

Plus, just because you've played for a long time doesn't make you good. I know people who have played since release and still suck. I know people who just started for a month and are really good. It's about how good of a gamer you are, and how you're able to adapt to varying difficulties/tasks.

I'll comment, since I've beaten this with all 10 professions.

Warrior: needs Wild Blow
Monk: Aegis can help, Prot spirit is great for the tankers.
Necro or Mesmer: SV and Empathy are your friends. My mesmer brings both.
Dervish: Ebon dust aura is fun.
Ele: Blinding surge works better than you think.
Paragon: Stand your Ground, Go for the Eyes, and even Incoming in it's nerfed state CAN make a big difference. Incoming gives you a second to break that stance.
Rit: Life and Recuperation leave you in good spirits.
Sin:....I was just happy to get through on this one.

Hmmm did you cap the shrines of the five gods? The bonuses they give help, first kill the lich, then don't touch Shiro, wipe out the monsters at each shrine then cap them. Can't remember if Shiro has enchant removal, but I used a hero bonder, and the two hench monks. It took a while since I didn't bring anti-melee (couldn't be bothered leveling Norgu or rebuilding MoW/Olias), only Wild Blow, so the heroes/henchies and I just traded blows with him, it took a while but he died.

Aslong as he's been hit with SV and his Battle Scars isn't active... thats probably the fastest way to actually kill him. If he hits 8 people multiple times each losing 120 health every single hit... he loses a few thousand health almost instantly. His attacks aren't strong enough to kill the whole party.

This mission just needs uber cookies anyway... Both my N/Mo and Mo/N soloed Shiro while my hench capped all the shrines for me. My Me/Mo tanked Shiro while my hench capped the shrines... then i brought in the SV Master of Whispers on Passive to kill Shiro for me. Any caster can kill Shiro using a 55 build ad SV on a hero. Hell it may even be possible for warrior/paragons... he hits you often enough.

Just don't do what i did once... went as Trapper and completely forgot Impossible Odd transfers conditions ^^ Getting blasted with Blind, Dazed, Cripple and Bleeding wasn't pleasant... so i took to wanding him.

Use some strategy then? I beat Shiro first try, by flagging my heroes/henchmen just out of range from him while I tanked as an adept LB W/Mo with Wild Blow. They blasted him with spells, while the monks healed me.

NF feels the tactless players out, while the better players move on. Playing for a year and a half doesn't make you good

You could have gone outside Gate of Secrets and farmed the lightbringer points easily in less than the 9 hours you say you tried to do GoM. As a tank you need to take Dolyak, endure, wild blow, and then damage skills that way you can stay alive and tank shiro. the rest of the team nees to be ranged attacks. I stay away from burning, bleeding, poision, etc because one of Shiro's skills transfers his conditions to you. Need a ss or sv necro as well to make it easier.

When you get to the end, kill litch first then run back out and shiro will follow. you tank him right at top of stairs and flag hero's and hench far enough away that they can hit him and heal you but he cannot hit them. It really is not hard and after you figure it out you will not mind the mission at all. I hated it more than anything in the world until I figured it out and I have done it on 8 characters and have helped over 1/2 of my guild pass it. I had problems with Varish too but after I figured out a good build I ran the mission with me 6 hench and one person for 6k a run and could do it in about 3-4 minutes with no problem. The relm is all about builds if you ask me, cause with correct build it is super easy and with wrong build it is super hard.

What I believe this is, is that you learned their ago, you learned which monsters to attack first, and like all situated problems, you've learned how to deal with it more efficiently.

This was today, ward of melee and armor of earth. Then I started wailing on him.

He died in 20 seconds after we initiated the first attack.

I'm not being insulting, but if you can't compelte the mission then it clearly is the case.

you just have to actually read the skills used and take something to counter them.

This is what i took to complete GoM with the char's ive had there so far.

Ele - blinding surge air spiker

Mesmer - Inneptitude

Paragon - Motivation para+wild throw

Rt - Spirit spammer (can trap shiro inside a ring of spirits, all he does is riposting to them all, over and over)

Sin - basic build with wild strike + shadow of haste & dash

Devish - Reapers sweep build with wild blow

here is a screen i have on my dervish, i tried a new approach and juts went very heavy pressure, worked quite well:

This is true only if you're not tanking the damage - you have something (Ward of Melee, for instance) that will ensure you do not explode unnecessarily.

I think in that time, I got Protector of Elona. Obviously I got masters on some of the missions the first time around, but I had to redo over half of the missions...

People's mileage may vary, as shown in this case :P

I breezed through with 4 characters. Then again I cheated and used heros which are more efficient than most of the GW population.
