Default The Domain of Anguish... without being a pansy. Help please ^_^

Alright, deep down we all know it to be true, Anet -honestly- did not create the domain of anguish to be some Uber-Leet area so hard that only one build works to complete it...

With the advent of the new PvE only skills and how powerful some of them can be if employed correctly, the Domain of Anguish, Normal Mode, should be feasible with a team of well-organized players...

I'm looking for interested people in coming up with a decent build that has the capacity to actually -fight- through the domain of anguish, rather than SF-Spike while everyone is mobbed up on a single tank that has 3,000+ life.... catch my drift?

Therefore, this thread is for anyone interested in coming up with a build(s) that can make it through each of the quests in the Domain of Anguish.

Obviously I intend to take a team down there, whether it be with heroes or humans, so if you're interested in making several attempts in DoA with some of the builds we discuss, then leave your IGN and say you're interested and capable =)

To lay out the basics....... and why I'm tired of just seeing the exact same build used in the DoA....

we shall assume max SS rank, max LB rank, and lowest Kurz/Luxon Rank (logical for all cases, not hard to max LB and SS, and easy to get r1 of lux/kurz)

"There's Nothing to Fear!".... 35% damage mitigation... with the right paragon it can be kept up 24/7

"They're On Fire!" 30% Damage Mitigation

"Save Yourself!" For 3...5 seconds, all other party members gain +100 armor.
***Side Note on Wiki: it can be even more useful for Paragons...if used in combination with Focused Anger, it can be maintained almost all of the time with a high Allegiance title.

Aegis of Augh:
* Armor: 16 (requires 9 Tactics)
* Armor +10 (vs Demons)
* Health +30
****basically +26 armor****

Aegis of Terror: strength... ditto...
Stygian Defender: Command... ditto...
Stygian Aegis: Motivation... ditto...

Sentinels Armor: +20 armor (vs. physical and elemental)

Max LB rank: 40% More Damage
15^50 inscription: 15% More Damage
20% Demonslaying Mod: 20% More Damage
Customized Weapon: 20% More Damage
Vampiric/Sundering Mod: 20% 20% of the time more damage *or* +3 armor ignoring damage
14 Strength: 14% Armor Penetration

ok... take a second and look back over all those extra damage buffs -_-;; tell me that's not intimidating...

Ok, obviously the current DoA build was meant to have the highest success rate with the lowest risk, with as little user-friendly problems as possible...

I want to make a build contrary to that...... I don't want to make a build that have a 100% success rate if executed correctly that takes 2-4 hours at optimum speed with much down-time... and if it does take that long, I want it to be a fight, not a coordinated ambush-spike.

Anyways, I listed several things that I thought would help make a very formidable team in the DoA (I'm speaking very general atm rather than specifying gloom, foundry, etc...). It employs damage mitigation, armor buffs, and large damage output. IMO it makes the fight an event battle, both teams are very powerful offensively and defensively, and it comes down to who can execute their roles more efficiently, AI or a human team.

My First goal is Ravenheart Gloom.

I will edit this first post with enemy information when I can find information on the groups, specifically what the monks use, and what the average groups consist of.

BTW, here is the generic build I was thinking of... Searing Flames is a very very poor choice here, it doesn't spread as much as it needs to considering these will be 'open' battles. Plus the damage output is pathetic..... so no one event mention Searing Flames in my thread... kthx

Ele/x - Sav. Heat + Mark Of Rodgart + Nukes FS TH BoF... +Intensity+Glyph of ele power

Ele/x - Ditto

Mo/A - LoD Infuse

Mo/E - ZB Prot

W/N (Str) - Hundred Blades + Whirlwind Attack + Plague Touch + Save Yourselves

W/N
(Str)- Ditto

W/N (Tac) - Hundred Blades+ WA + Plage Touch + Watch Yourself!

P/W - *see: P/W ultimate Support Character posted by Taedronai in the paragon discussion forum* Focused Anger, Spear of Fury, They're on Fire!, There's Nothing to Fear!, Go for the Eyes!, Anthem of Flame, Aggressive Refrain, Save Yourselves!

The builds should be self-explanatory... that's my outline at least... obviously, raw, un-tested, and basic. But with the right, stuff, I strongly feel w/ modifications something like that build could work in DoA.

Ideas! I need input and ideas =)

ONLY RULE: DO NOT MENTION SEARING FLAMES... HORRIBLE SKILL AFTER ALL THE NERFS... IF YOU'RE GOING TO MENTION IT.... -_-

Hmmm....I'm liking this. I agree, even though the cookie cutter build is nice and safe, it gets boring at times. I like that the warriors and elementalists have the potential for a lot of damage all at once. Sav. Heat + Hundred Blades will probably work very nicely. I'd love to fill one of the ele spots if you ever get around to trying this out.

Would probably be possible with some careful positioning and alot of coordination. I assume you're giving the warriors Fiery swords to take advantage of Rodgort?
Also, the Tacics W/N would have to be /P for "Stand your ground!", maybe you mean "Watch yourself!"?
But for the sword warriors, I think using axes would be preferable, that way you can Triple Chop + Cyclone Axe + Whirlind Attack.

TY, at least I'm not getting the "stfu nub, SF IS TEH LEETZORS" responses I was expecting.

TY for pointing out the SYG and WY mix-up ^^

Brimruk, of course you're welcome to come ^^ just leave your IGN, and I'll message you if you're still interested.

And yeah, Axes do seem like a better choice from what I've heard... just don't know much about axes :P... my lack of knowledge as a caster :P

If you're not running the ordinary way with all foes around 1 tank (3 in this case), i think it would be better to run something like dragonslash and eviscerate dps builds instead of just 3 aoe attacks. i dont know much about doa but maybe add a rit with weapon of fury or splinter weapon to help the warriors and para?

hooooo if you want to try a build like the one you're showing, call me! ^^
I'd suggest you to wait for "save yourselves"'s nerf, they surely wont let a single paragon build rule PvE entirely

I'm in if you'll have me. I don't have the most experience with DoA (mainly because I hate the popular builds being used) but I'll give it my best and I'm willing to learn (and spend a little cash on the items needed). I play a W/x, Central Time, IGN: Relnor The Brave

If you want Axe AoE, you could try a W/Rt with Triple Chop, Cyclone Axe/Whirlwind Attack, Executioner's Strike, Splinter Weapon, and rez (Flesh of My Flesh?). Three extra slots there for utilities (two if you bring both CA & WA).

If you want an axe spike, Evis + Executioner's is the way to go.

If you go with the W/Rt's and are worried about conditions, maybe give one of the monks RC or spec everyone with a Rune of Clarity/Purity/Recovery/Restoration.

I'm joining.
My character is a Warrior, all Warrior and Monk skills unlocked, all Tyrian and Canthan elite skills unlocked, max Lightbringer and Sunspear, but without Kurzick/Luxon skills.
Oh yeah, also got a 20/20 blade of 20% Demonslaying, +15%-10 Armour. But also have the basic 15^50 weapons, but without Demonslaying.

Awesone, Glad to see the interest.

I've been gathering weapons and mods and what-not... looking for a parapon who can run that build... going to be hard to find...

We'll be attempting gloom first. Everyone who said they were interested is on my friends list. I've been buying shields for the trip, and will be loaning them out w/ small collaterall (sp) to people who want to come ^^

Hardest part of Gloom will be the beginning I think..... where the three mobs form 1 huge mob -_-

IGN: steel singer
I most probably will come on my monk, steel mo, but I only have lb 7.. Not really bothered to finish the last 9000 points :P
Just because playing 600hp monk in the 3 man foundry build is getting boring because it's way to easy -.-

A couple of conciderations:

Gloom
Environment Effect:
Shroud of Darkness. All attacks have a 50% chance to miss

I tried mele there. Missing 50% of the time makes a warrior useless as a damage dealer

In some areas Splinter weapon + Tripple Chop + Cyclone Axe + Whirling Weapon is absolute killer

City
In city as a warrior if you do attack you'll be with 0 energy 100% of the time

Foundry
1. Second room is hell to fight inside
2. Warriors will be blinded 95% of the time while fighting Dementia. Blindness is reapplied the next second it is removed

Veil

Still donno how to get around the Vampic Horros - touchers - nothing will save you from losing health.. nothing except symbiosis

i could possibly be one of the ele's though im wondering how long would one of these "excursions" take i get on a lot but not for long,

also props on no SF, i am longtime ele, and i hate being without energy no matter how much damage it does

when you say FS TH BoF do you mean fire storm, teinai's heat, and breath of fire? im not saying fire storm is bad, but you get more damage if you use searing heat even if it is a copy of teinai's heat, but i can see why you would use fire storm because it hits foes adjacent to where you send it.... its a trade off

Only problems are Hundred Blades sucks as an elite, and Savannah Heat might make them scatter.

I'd personally bring Dragon Slash or something else rather than hundred blades.

yup, suggestiona are definately what we need.

Only reason I like FS is for its duration really. Sure it deals less damage, but the longer its in play, the more enemies run through it and are set on fire. Only reason we really want to spread the burning is for ToF

I don't know much about warriors... hmm... I lke the idea, definately worth testing.

Agree with Ca Aok, bring dragon slash and it might make it better. On a side not, you can use a Ranger/Paragon/Ele/Dervish/Sin/Warrior to tank in anypart of DoA, I have done it and it is pretty fun trying diffrent builds, whatever you guys want to try I am game...
