The other people who don't want to read through 8 pages of posts will thank you for that bit of info. The rest of us knew that already. ^_^

I have a 19% enchantment extension axe mod floating around.

Does it make sense to put it on anything except a FFS? Or should I just go get one of those?

I have a character that needs to be in the area anyway, so he could easily pick it up ...

It would be a complete waste if you are using the FFS as a caster weapon to put the 19% on anything BUT the FFS.

Is there any non-caster (I guess that would be warrior) build where it makes more sense?

Unless it's a warrior who tanks with Armor of Earth (not Wards), I'm not seeing it ...

Comparing HoD and FFS, it's really dependent upon your situations. There is more difference to them than just +5 energy or 10% recharge. And there are situations where the FFS is better and situations where the HoD is better. Overall, my opinion is that the HoD is removed because it is a lot more versatile than the FFS.

(This is my opinion)
HoD to me is more reliable. When switching to it, you know you will have that last 5 energy to cast prot spirit. while when you really need that fast recharge on SB, well, there is about 10% chance you can get it. Now if you have no energy problem at all (I find energy to be easy to manage before the chaos planes) then FFS is obviousely better.

If we put 55monks and IW mesmers aside, there are other builds that can use the HoD sword. (Mainly because HoD sword just 1 off from max dmg) I once ran a Spinal Shiver interrupt build with my guild, and the HoD was the best weapon for it due to the energy intensive nature of that build. same thing if you're trying a thunderclap build.

anyway, just my 2 cents on HoD vs FFS

that would require you customizing your hod sword to get the most dmg possible out of it which if you plan on keepign it on that char and could afford another one, then by all means, but most people cant afford one.... much less to be able to customize one and buy a 2nd

Hmm, I went to the Pockmark Flats a couple of times and neither of the times did the collector spawn . Has he been moved or something? Since I used the map posted somewhere along the first pages...

I would hope by now everyone knows that +5 energy swords are back in the game along with bows, axes and hammers. And for people that don't have factions- there is a crafter that crafter +5 energy weapons so don't let someone try to scam you out of big bucks.

You can't craft new ones, but i'm sure there are a few left laying around collecting dust.

Well my opinion is FFS is better....
10% recharge is better... why would u just want to solo farm one thing anyway..? with e-bond + balth spirit you get 2 nrg every time you are damaged... I had an HoD for awhile and I sold it b/c I wanted the 200k and it was useless to me.... So IMO [I like the mo/n solo farms better] the FFS is better 53 max nrg with basically unlimited or 58 nrg with unlimited... Doesn't make that much difference... I would not go buy an HoD for 100k.... Seeing as there are other things out there that are just as good... If you are lookin to make money and have in HoD then I would definitely sell...

I have 7.2 mill experience from just 55 solo farming... I've used FFS for about 95% of that...

Well nowadays you can get +5 energy weapons or 10% universal recharge with an inscription as opposed to several hundred plat for the HoD sword. FFS has that nifty -10 AL while attacking if you want to be unique though.

I find that the FFS -10 AR is still useful when running [skill]Spirit Bond[/skill].
