Some people said that the collector for FFS appears only when America has favor. That's BS. I found him when we DIDNT have favor. I did 3 runs unsuccessfully, and on the 4th, there he was, standing right where people said he would be. It's just a random spawn. Also, I disagree that the FFS is better than HoD sword. People who cant afford HoD say that, to make themselves feel better. The FFS is a very good item, and it is almost as good. But it is NOT better than HoD.
I'd never sell my 20% HoD sword for less than a million. Dont care what anyone says.

Explain how +5 energy, especially on builds that are 100% energy balanced such as 55hp builds, is more powerful than 10% spell recharge chance.

If your energy never drops below 5 then you don't need an HoD. I use my FFS for the 20% enchanting, and my Nolani wand for my +5 energy on another weapon set (which I rarely use in PvE, more for PvP).
That extra 5 energy isn't going to do jack for a monk. What enchantment can you cast for 5 energy, that would save you if it's your LAST 5 energy. Because until you need that 5 energy there is no reason to have it open for draining.

If people think the FFS is better than the HOD sword, it raises the question
Why did they nerf the HOD sword but leave the FFS in the game?

I thought it was because of the IW build, but I might be wrong. Anway, I have both and have used both with my monk, and to be honest, there isn't that much difference. Hell, I was fine with a droks weaponsmith axe and a 20% enchant mod for a LONG time. Those that are good at solo monking and can manage their energy don't "need" either, and anyone that has either/or item should be happy they have one of them. And if you have both, my suggestion is to put +20% enchants on both of them and try them out. Personally, I like the FFS better but that's because I personally don't have problems managing my energy. I find that the HoD is a much better fit for my Mesmer.
There is a third option...setup three weaponsets for solo monking lmfao.
1) wand/cesta (for wanding pesky nightmares mostly)
2) FFS/cesta (for invinci monking while energy is above 50%)
3) HoD/cesta (for when energy dips below 50%)
I call that a win/win and solves this stupid debate on which is better

I think the HoD got nerfed because it adds 5e AND was at/near max dmg (don't really know cuz I am to poor to own one), but the FFS/Nolani wand have not been nerfed because they have limitations that make it a trade off if you want to use the weapon. Pretty much in line with Anet's stance on balance.

Now i know that the HoD sword wasnt just the +5 energy everyone wanted
but i do have a kind of alternative that i've been using for a while that you
can get straight outside serenity temple for 3 stormy eyes!
It's only +5 energy but it does come in handy when u need that little bit extra.
And some pics,

Actually the Nolani wand gives +5 energy unconditionally for 3 charr carvings (might be 5). A better alternative.

FFS is 100x better, i have never had problems with energy... *See "Blessed Signet" *, however when a troll does disrupting chop during HB and you are relying on the divine favor + from prot spirit the 10% recharge REALLY comes in handy, because: 1) Theres chance cast time lowered to 2 seconds for prot spirit which menas you can cast 2 and set AOE nerf to work and run away till HB is recharged.
or
2) Lowers HB recharge time after interrupt.
It has saved me countless times. Literally.
HOD = +5 energy = useless to me.

Do you need to have 3 in axe mastery to get the full 10% on skill recharge or does it not matter at all.

How about my question?
If I dont have warrior as one of my profession.
Can I use the axe to deal damage with?
I know I can, but it wouldn't be 6-16 dmg.
Does anyone know what the dmg would be?

It's 3 just picked 1 up today and I do believe the FFS is a lot better, mostly because it's a more affordable alternative to such an expensive thing, but just in case A-net hits it with the Nerf bat I got 14of em =P

If you wanted to deal damage with a weapon, you'd go with a Warrior or Ranger. It's just for when you want recharge and enchant mods on the same weapon.

I have a 55 Necro.
While I'm waiting for SS to recharge or Im waiting for my energy to regenerate. I deal damage using my wand any where from 15-21 dmg sometimes why higher depending on the lvl of the monster/monsters. With the Flame Spitter
I couldn't deal hardly any dmg.
Maybe around 1-4 dmg which isn't much.
