I think we should all plan a time to meet up and start a battle for jade quarry (just for explorers). And if we dont get enough people, we could go around advertising in big places that we're starting a battle for explorers. Seems like our only hope with that one Does anyone ever see a battle take place there anymore?

I've visited them a dozen times, but no one is ever around. That's why I was hoping that you wouldn't need to go inside of them...

You just have to get on at the right time. I've gotten about 3 games in a row last night.

You'll need both if you don't have Monastery Overlook. Both The Jade Quarry and Fort Aspenwood add 0.5% to map so I recommend doing both.

For Fort Aspenwood start at the Luxon side and explore at same pace as Luxons are progressing at attacking. You'll only need to scrape the southern wall of the battle area. Everything else can be mapped from the outposts.

For The Jade Quarry start at the Kurzick side if possible, because there is a small part of map to north where Kurzicks start, which seems to be possible to map only from the Kurzick starting area. The rest of The Jade Quarry can be mapped with relative ease. The hardest part is to get into TJQ.

You should read this thread more closely. All mission areas except for Dragon's Throat count towards the Cartography title. There is, however, some leeway built into the title, so you could achieve it without mapping Jade Quarry as someone has demonstrated a few pages back. It would just mean having to scrape every little bit you can out of all the other areas.

I highly recommend coming to Jade Quarry in the evenings or on the weekends, when population there increases. Kurzick side is chronically underpopulated, so it might be best to start there and shout for more Luxons to move over from the Luxon side of Fort Aspenwood by telling them a Kurzick team is waiting. Please avoid mapping and leaving, though, as that is one of the reasons people don't like coming back to Jade Quarry.

I've previously posted The Winner's Guide to Jade Quarry on these forums. It can help you figure out what to expect once you do make it in, so please give it a read.

In the future, please try to provide bigger screenshots and use the "U" window instead of the overview map so it's easier to compare your screenshots with Leighwyn's map. The particular piece you're pointing towards looks clear, but I can't be absolutely sure since the shadows on the overview map often obscure details.

Only Dougal has compared zoomed-out maps in this thread. Comparing Canthan overview maps is harder than comparing Tyrian ones because the Canthan map is darker and does not have the same sharp contrast between fogged and cleared areas as the Tyrian one does.

The same commands might not work on different computers/accounts because your keyset might be different from mine. Please check what function each of your keys is bound to as your "clear screenshot" key may be different from mine.

I hate Photobucket. All your images have been resized to about 1/4 of their original size, so I can't do anything with them. Please upload them to Imageshack or another hosting site, and consider using multiple unmerged screenshots of your "U" window if your merged files exceed the size limit.

You've got a long way to go if you're stuck at 93%. Your best bet would be to check your map against Leighwyn's using his ALT+TAB method (see his post on page 2 of this thread). With 93% you should have a few big swaths of fog on your maps the size of Jade Quarry, and those would be clearly visible even on first comparison.

Here are some general tips, however:

1) Enter all mission areas. All missions except for Dragon's Throat count towards the title.

2) Enter all missions as explorable areas. Tahnnakai Temple and Nahpui Quarter explorables are roughly the same size as their mission path counterparts.

3) Go back and walk the edges of all zones. Since you were only trying to progress through the game earlier, chances are you've missed some spots along their edges.

Dougal Kronik

I really really appreciate you helping people with their maps, but could you please make your responses into links so they don't warp the thread?

It is so irritating having to scroll down and over to read posts.

Also what's up with the quality, it mostly looks black, you can hardly see anything...

Thanks,
Livingston

I got a lot of people in Jade Quarry to explore explore earlier tonight. I just went around to big places like Kaineng, Aspenwood, HzH, Cavalon, both aspenwoods, etc.. and spammed that an explore group was forming for jade quarry, and to join your teams side.

We had enough people on both sides in about 5 mins of advertising. And we ended up going for about 4 - 5 rounds after that. You need to play a round as both luxon and kurzick in order to FULLY explore Jade Quarry. The main bases are guarded by guys who do 999 dmg if you enter the enemies base, so you cant explore it all in 1 go. I went from 99.0% to 99.6% with JUST jade quarry today, so it really does help.

I did read a lot of it, but it is 30+ pages, so it's kind of hard to read everything and still remember every little detail you read, when it might not be pertinent to you at the time. I actually had read and remembered that bit, but I wasn't sure these areas would be counted as mission areas as you don't have to enter the area in order to complete any missions, you just talk to an NPC at the fort and you are done.

Evenings in what time zone and which server? I'm in Australia and on the European servers.

And I'll have a read of your guide, thanks for the link.

I was using the U window; I thought the little red dots would make that obvious.

How do you make a bigger screenshot? I took a normal screenshot and cropped the section I was referring to. What else can I do to make it bigger?

Did it. Thanks a lot guys. I was at 99.9% and looking for another spot, started walking around... decided to open up my Titles window........ and it said 100%... so whatever

I also had Jade Quarry, and most of the Shing Jea training area though (from when the dragon festival took place). I was still missing about .1 or so from the Shing Jea training area though. This was a lot harder than the Tyrian title in my opinion (at least for a Tyrian).

You really have to compare with tons of different high res maps, dont use just 1 because some people have what uncovered things that others haven't yet. Use Leighwyn's alt+tab method when comparing with those many different maps. Zoomed out comparing worked for me until about 90 - 95% when it started getting real hard to find spots, then I had to compare with high res maps. Tyrian was easier for me because i didnt need to compare with high res maps at all, zoomed out maps worked fine.

Good luck to those who still needs this title, and thank you to everyone in this thread who gave tips/help on getting the title.

And last but not least:

You CAN fully explore The Jade Quarry in one go if you start at the Kurzick side. Everything you can map inside the Luzon base can also be mapped outside the base by scraping the wall.

The blackness is due to the difference mapping he's doing - it blacks out everything that is the same, highlighting the areas that are different. Most people said you couldn't do difference maps with Cantha, and I believed them - but Dougal has a keen eye apparently.

Aw come on, a little scrolling never hurt anybody. It takes less time than exploring your own map, right? =)
