I see many ppl are just too stupid here.I dont see how the OPTION to get married would ruin the game for anyone who dosent want to get in to rp relationship. As all option, you are not forced to use it but it will make game more attractive for alot of ppl who like to spend time together but too far apart in the real world.

the game would be plenty successful if it focused only on pve. the people that gvg competitively are actually a rather small minority of the guildwars playerbase. quite similar to the minority that would enjoy an in-game wedding, wouldn't you say?

Miral...I can't claim to know how many people actually GvG...as I don't play PvP at all...
Honestly I don't see how you can argue that GvG is just as important to the success of the game as in game marriage...seriously. The two just aren't on the same level.

I see...because we don't want them working on something that will not really add anything to our game...we're "stupid"...

everyone is entitled to their opinion...using insults (however minor) lowers mine...of you...grow up and debate properly or don't debate at all.

Again I call for this thread to be moved out of the GW:EN forum...

I don't see the problem. It wouldn't ruin the overall experience for people who don't want to use the feature, and if it really comes to the point where people are spamming for significant others, then we're just looking at chat bans.

While people who don't in-game roleplay wouldn't make use of the feature, it helps provide depth to the roleplay experience of those who enjoy it.

Everyone raves about the auction house, what use is it to those who don't enjoy player-to-player economy? Just like how marriage is of no use to those who don't enjoy roleplay. Marriage will do nothing to ruin the integrity of the franchise, just open new doors for the player customization that Guild Wars prides itself on.

and GVG adds absolutely nothing to my game. do you see the point now? you find gvg important, I do not. some people find in-game marriage an attractive idea, others do not. allowing in-game marriage does absolutely nothing to hurt you that having gvg doesn't do to hurt me. get it?

You do have a point

I rarely GVG or PVP

I love PVE ,festivities.races etc

On the contary Options like marriage would add a fun part to the game
dont see why people are freaked out so much.

Like a guy mentioned clicking on pixels (killing someone virtually) can be fun why not marriages

I would like to see more of off PVP or GVG or for that matter off PVE fun activities so be it..

IMO gvg is a something that should be added...it won't affect my gameplay at all...but I still think it should be added...keeps up the whole "Guild Wars" aspect of the game you know. I see no reason to add marriage when there are other things that are more important to add to the game. Now if they come to the community and say "ok we've added most of the things we intend to add...any other suggestions?"....then I wouldn't care if marriage was suggested. I'm talking about priorities here.

Mirage...maybe I should have been more specific...."my gameplay"...

You have every right to your opinion...just like I do...and right now there are more important things that should be considered for the game.

Again I ask for this thread to be moved from the Eye of the North Forums....do mods even pay attention to their duties here?

Can I simply say, that this is a game, and Marriage simply isn't anything to be played at...It's not a game, and it's not a joke, and while I personally don't actually believe in marriage, for those people who do I just find it a little strange to have fake, online weddings. It just seems disrespectful to the sanctity of the whole union. :S

so does someone thinking there are more important things than pvp mean that pvp is an absolute low priority? Because hey if thats the logic, lets just get rid of pvp and focus all manpower on a kickass story mode.

I read the first 3 and last 3 posts before posting.

Here we go...

At first I read "in game marriages" and I thought "what are you all hopeless nerds or something"? Whoops, some rhetorical accidentally slipped and fell into my question. The next thing I thought was, hey, I'm married in real life! I could get married in game and maybe some of the creepiness will be diminished! But then...then the word "creepiness" sunk in, and I realized that some huge majority of the gamers are going to be male...with female characters. So 2 irl males will be having online lesbian marriages? DON'T TELL THE REPUBLICANS!! Oh God no. But then I remembered something else in the past I had read...about people getting married in WoW, and I remembered how I had used this to poke fun at a friend of mine about his WoW playing. Something like "yeah, you know well, I don't play a game where people get married in game". It occurs to me that in 2, 5, or 10 years I'll probably still want that to be true. It's an association thing, y'know. Do we REALLY want our in game comrades to be doing things so nerdy it would make Urkel blush?

I say not.

I left Maplestory over this. I'll tell you how it ruined that game: Every 2 seconds, the chat box would be filled with serverwide spam.. "So and so's wedding is now starting in Channel 2". That got extremely distracting and annoying. It got to the point where I couldn't carry on a conversation with the rest of my guild because these annoying messages, which I could not turn off, were all over the place. Also, I don't think adults ought to be forced to walk through towns and see 2 kids who think their pixelated characters are kissing. If that's some peoples cup of tea, fine, let them do that in private, but don't force it on the rest of us who think it's just damn stupid.

I like the idea, yeah you may sit and say "oh my god thats so lame" or "god get a life you so sad" but its a ROLE PLAYING game and there are a few people that take the whole RP aspect seriously. I'm not one of these myself but i have come across them. just makes the game a bit more fun i mean you dont have to run round declaring your love to these people right? could be you and a friend having a laugh trying to somehow link both of ya characters. I mean you already got the whole ancestory (is that a word) idea with the Hall of Monuments thers gotta be some sort of Family Tree happening there?

This wouldnt be first game to do it either other games havent flopped.

and I play this with my girlfriend and i know other people do to... just another comedy little thing to add lol. I dunno i quite like the novelty of it

Indeed, I wouldn't like to see unknown people's marriage... I think it should be done at the Guild Hall or whatever is it on GW2, and you could invite guests, like we do most of the time. Just like IRL : you don't ask random people to go and see your marriage, that would be creepy...

Jessyi : If you (and your friends) dislike the idea, there's no reason to complain. Is someone that plays 1-2 hours a day and roleplays nerdier than someone who plays 8 hours a day without roleplaying ?
