Default Marraiges in Guild Wars 2

I was going accross th e following article regarding GW2

http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Guild_Wars_2

where it says

Character development
There will be a single character system, a character will not have a type like at present. A single character can be used for any of the three types of game play; PvE, World PvP and Structured PvP.

The level cap of 20 will be raised, no maximum level has been given and it has been suggested that there may be no maximum.
The skill system will be modified. There will be fewer, less complex skills which may behave differently in different situations, such as if the character is jumping or is surrounded by monsters.

Marriages and auction houses may be implemented.

But this group will also say "niiiiice" if two female rangers get married.

I'm a geek, and I don't currently have a girlfriend. But jesus.. I don't even want to meet the person who thinks virtual marriages in any game are a good idea.

I really hope this is never implemented. It's pointless, will lead to more sexism and childish arguments, and is just generally a waste of the developers time. If you want to pretend to be married to someone online, then knock yourself out, but I don't see why we need a line of text to say so.

And this is why lack of total instancing concerns me. Creepy RPers that I can ignore aren't a problem, creepy RPers I can't get away from are a game killer.

Whoa, that's freaky. I was thinking of something kinda like this the other day..except it wouldn't be player+player wedding, but a player+npc wedding. And you could even eventualy get a child whom you could take on adventures with you (think like... another Gwen) and when he becomes old enough, he'll go out adventuring on his own (though this you'll never see) and maybe you could have like.. random rewards/spoils of victory that he brings home to show you how good of a hunter he has become? (Or she. I don't mean to be sexist.) And plenty of cool stuff can be done on this. x3 Lets say... everytime you enter a new instance there'd be a 5% chance you would see your adventuring son there and could ally with him for aslong as you're in that one instance! (except now he could be attacked and will attack back) You could also maybe get quests to go rescue him or help him if he's ever in trouble. x3

Yes, I know none will like those ideas and yes, I have faaaaaaaaaar to much from time on my hands.

eh nothing wrong with allowing pretend marriage in an online game. its not forced on you, and doesn't have to involve you in any way. honestly... if some people suddenly decided that they don't like gvg battles should gvg battles be unavailable in any online game? to be honest, some of the narrow minds and far-rightwing holier than thou attitudes around here as of late make me sick...

And yet here all you nay-sayers are, members of an online forum of a Role Playing Game, probably with at least two female characters rolled.

So you don't see a problem with the amount of sexism this would bring?
GW is a prodomenatly male community (from what i've seen) so it is sure to bring huge amounts of sexism, Not because men are sexist and women arn't but from the fact that girls in GW are rarer (real girls not guys with female character) and that would make the girls that are in GW community be viewed as a commodity by the little kids.
This is a horrid idea, let the nerds stand in Shing Jea saying "LF GF" but i really don't see why time should be taken away from new mechanics (say the auction house idea) to be put into something so childish and liable to cause more sexism

Oh good. So it's not just me getting sick of the screaming, crying, whining "elitists". It's as if people forgot how to have FUN in games.
