Does anyone know if Gwen will be a hero? I know she's in the game, but it doesn't say if she'll actually be a customizable hero. And if she is, what profession will she be? She could be a monk, since she ran around healing you in Pre-Searing. But she could also be a warrior, as she said she wanted to be warrior like her father in one of her dialogs, but she also said she likes mesmer outfits, so perhaps she'll be a mesmer. I think it would be awesome if she was a mesmer. Better than Norgu if you ask me. hehe Plus her outfit kind of looks like a mesmer's. Anyone care to comment?

By the looks of it she's a mesmer...And I'm pretty sure she will be a hero, unless she plays more of a role like Master Togo in Factions, or Kormir in NF.

maybe she'll be a hammer wielding monk in a mesmer's dress?
actually my guess is she's a mesmer and one of the pve skills will be a weak heal called "Gwen's Song" or something.

She can't be a Hero, cuz then players could travel to other campaigns with Gwen, spoiling the truth for the players that don't have the expansion. Also would create a paradox, and we don't want that...

If she is a part of the plot she might play more of a roll like Kormir did in NF, join us for some missions and primary quests, would be nice if Gwen is a hero though.

But there already is the trailer, the screenshots, and the concept art out there. People from other campaigns wouldn't even really know when gwen is anyway...

While I'm not all that of a fan of Gwen, one thing makes me think she might be a hero. Two different armors:

Notice how in the trailer she wears one kind of armor which is also shown in a screen shot, and the high-res images showing her match the same image PC Gamer showed in May. It wouldn't surprise me that in EoTN we'll be able to upgrade hero armors, and currently we've seen Gwen with two armors.

Just my thoughts though.

You know that ANET could change things there before GW:EN goes live.

But if Gwen is a hero, I'm wondering what will happen if we take her down to UW where her mother is looking for her.

On this screenshot from official site, Gwen is wielding some kind of mesmer focus and air wand, so she's going to be mesmer or ele, I think...

I guess it is like in Nightfall, mission require that least one player add Gwen to party list before mission can be started.

You'll need Gwen in the party for the quest to escort her mother to Mayor Alegheri.

If the game was ready to be on your gw.dat then the game would be out by now. They would lose to much money waiting until a certain date to release when they could have weeks ago.

So because of that never be certain of things until the final release you never know maybe they planted that there to make you think that she will be a hero

My own pet theory is that yes, Gwen will be a Hero, and what is more, she will be multi-profession.

My reasons for guessing this are as follows:

1) In the latest In-Game trailer, Gwen is seen dressed in what can only be a Ranger costume.

2) On the armour/character pictures already discussed in other threads, she is dressed as a mesmer.

No other character that I can think of has appeared dressed in the armour of a different profession to their primary class even in cut scenes. We have already seen Gwen dressed as two very different professions.

3) In Prophecies, when we first meet Gwen, she wanted to be a warrior like her father. (I know this is weak, but I still think it is important, and yes, I know that the rest of the quote says something like "but I do think the mesmer costumes are nicer")

4) She has already demonstrated monk healing skills when she follows you around in pre-searing.

This covers four of the primary Guild Wars classes, Ranger, Mesmer, Warrior and Monk.

We were semi-promised a multi-profession hero in Nightfall, but for what ever reason we did not get one. Maybe now we will :-)

For the argument that Gwen can't be a hero, because it would make no sense to have her in post-searing Ascalon: The game is not based on a set timeline. Ie, if you join a guy with the Titan quest activated, you will see Titans, even if you aren't at that point of the story.

Therefore, in your post-searing ascalon, Gwen is a young adult, and a Hero. As for spoilers, such is the fate of MMORPGs. I found out Althea was dead when someone spammed "Selling Althea's Ashes". Hell, people who played the preview of Nightfall all the way through, knew that Varesh was evil before anyone else.

IMO, Gwen will be a Mesmer. She is shown with a Mesmer offhand weapon in a photo, her clothes look more Mesmerish than Ranger to me (even in the preview), and we know there will only be 10 heros. That strongly suggests one hero for each profession.

With Pyre the Charr already taking the Ranger spot, it's unlikely they'll have two Rangers.

We already have some EOTN on out computer, as in the last big patch, just look at the map and that should tell you. As for Gwen, she will be a hero mesmer most likey. Also she will not be a ranger, as it has been said that there will be 1 of each class on eotn.
