Ol-812, I think you've misinterpreted what Azagoth said. While the use of the term 'broadsword' has expanded in modern times to include any sword made for slashing, it originally referred specifically to a specific kind of sword - straight, double-edged, basket-hilted. The broadsword skin in Factions is a dao. No dao, however, fits the specific definition of a broadsword (the term refers to Chinese blades that are single-edged and often curved - straight, double-edged blades in China are referred to as the jian).

On the claymore... you're half right and half wrong. There are in fact two different sword designs that have been called a claymore. The first is the well-known, two-handed version that was used until around the 1700s, which is fairly close in appearance to the Guild Wars long sword skin. The second, however, used from then until (by some British officers) World War 2, and probably as a dress sword even today, pretty much exactly corresponds to the original definition of a broadsword, to the point of the terms being used interchangably.

(Oh, and for the record, notches like those are probably for halfswording techniques.)

I'd be awesome if they put claymores in Guild Wars. Maybe as an elite ranger trap.

I hate to burst everyone's bubble, but Isaiah Cartwright (a.k.a. Izzy, the guy that handles skill balancing at Anet) has confirmed that the image for Pulverizing Smash is actually a hammer.

Believe me, I was just as excited as anybody when I thought it was an axe upon first glance. And don't ask me how that's supposed to look like a hammer, either.
