GW Eye of the Lich King?
K, first, I play GW, not WOW. So I'm not complaining, I'm just interested in hearing people's opinions on the new GW and WOW expansions.
Both feature:
Expanded Northern Continents
Buring Forests
Underground caves
Half Giants (Norn and vykal)
Dwarves
Death Knight class... Oh wait... got my hopes up...
So yeah, what's up?

That they became so similar might be fact that originally that who "invented" Guild Wars was making WoW. More likely it is just Coincidence.

To me it just seems like pretty generic fantasy stuff. Dwarves were in the original, Giants are.. well.. what else are you going to do, you already have Dwarves. Burning Forests.. well, you've got me there, but I'd imagine it ties into the storyline. And Expanded Northern Continent you say? Well, they already expanded to the south, why not head up north?

Ye I saw the Blizzcon trailer for WoW: Wrath of the Lich King yesterday...
Just as GWEN has been introduced (w/ its vids)
Funny how this new WoW expansion will have a new northern area, burning forest, new Profession: "Inscription", use of a "Lich" (this one is normal I guess), probably other stuff that Ive forgotten..etc.
I pretty much laffed at the coincidence of it...
(reminded me of the time when LotR and Harry Potter stuff appeared and their coincidental similarities too. )
/just luck I guess. (?)

the difference is though Warcraft already has lots of lore behind it, everything in wow and its expansions comes from the history of that world, both in the lore and actual past games.
and arenanet was formed by ex-blizzard people.

Its a coincidence. The lore between the two is much different and provides different experiences.

well at least now people can claim WoW ripped off GW :P
despite the fact that they have nothing do with each other...
