Default The PvE faction farming thread

I was one of the people who never in a million years would have bothered to farm up faction. I sort of regret not hitting at least the first title now that the new skills are out.

The best spot I've found so far on the Kurzick side is The Eternal Grove via Vasburg Armory. A near total clear out including the bosses will get you ~2000 faction in a run in normal mode...not the greatest considering it will take 100,000 to hit the first rank.

Short and sweet, where are you folks doing your PvE (non-AB) priest bonus faction farming?

Silent Surf and Gyala Hatch explorable.
Lots of mobs and they're a decent challenge.

I'd sure love to find a decent PvE spot. Your EG spot seems good, how long does it take? I actually, for the first time ever, started ABing this weekend....it's really a lot of fun, but frustrating when you wait about 5 minutes to enter a battle, and then lose the battle and only get like, 600 points.

Haven't tried EG yet, but you may want to try areas with faction quests. Ferndale gives you like 800 free from the supply run and then the scouting. If you're going to go and clear the place anyway. Though for timewise, you may be better off with just supply running or trapping the house battle. I mean 2000 is nice, but clearing the whole place? Takes a while don't it? Running supplies, is 400 a pop and even someone just starting should be able to do it under 5 minutes easy. Heard some even shaved it down to like 2 mins. Certainly quicker and easier than clearing whole areas. Boring though. Same with fighting the convicts on the luxon side. Easy as, just bring frozen soil to stop any res. The longest bit is running outside and then going to the challenge starter.

Haven't actually bothered FF for a while now, so maybe they've changed up the mobs or something, still nothing you shouldn't be able to run if you wanted too. And not sure how they'd stop you from trapping the house battle. Not sure how it would match up to AB gains, since you have to factor in wait times for AB. Goodluck anyway.

The Eternal Grove run will take about 30-40 minutes depending on how well put together the team is. Its the identical run to the boss farming route which can be found in detail....

here: http://guildwars.ogaming.com/data/4199~Darktica2.php

I hit my limit with AB. The battles tend to be extremely lopsided particularly in Fort Aspenwood. I'd rather rely on my own skills to clear PvE zones than a haphazardly thrown together PvP team any day of the week. This also says nothing for AFKers which are still a huge issue.

Edit: I have chosen priest rewards over repeatable quests simply because even slim you have a chance to score a rare drop or a boss drop. It sounds nuts but on my third run in EG I got a Scar Eater, it made my day!

Hmmm 30 min at about 2,000 faction....thats 50 times to get 100,000 faction, so if i did it right it would take 25 hours to get 100k faction? Maybe someone should double check my math lol. if its right faction farming is a much better option. But seriously someone check my math

There are a couple of threads in the farming forum on this:

here and here

With effective use of boss bonuses you can get ~8-10k faction per hour in HM.

Standard repeatable-quest faction farming is definitely faster, but good god does it get old. I really prefer the bounty method.

That said, I don't really know any good spots yet. I got 5000 from clearing Morostav Trail in HM, but that took a good hour or so.

@Neo Nugget - I never claimed it was the most efficient, it just beats the endless monotony and adds some more options now that we have an NPC bonus who rewards per kill.

If you follow the map in the link and ONLY hit the bosses and surrounding groups you could probably do the entire run in around 15 minutes and net yourself around 1000 faction maybe more. If you did it in HM its probably closer to 2000.

Farm "Tarnen the Bully" outside of house in HM and kill up to 25 before him. Takes roughly 5-8min. max (once you figure out a good team build) total run nets you about 500-550 points (due to boss bonus). Rinse repeat.

I would recommend making a new char and buying skills for them.

Assuming you get 500points every 7min. you'll get a total of roughly 4k total in a one hour span. roughly 21k in five hours. After buying skills thats a total of 42k after five hours of farming.

Still very slow...but a start.

I have been doing Rhea's Crater, leaving from Aurios Mines. Lots of bosses, and the sharp corners and narrow confines help you nuke and protect your eternally retarded heroes and henchies. Also, in HM the Oni on the bridge have been dropping me good stuff.

Jade Arena repeatable Luxon quest (400 faction) can be done in 5 minutes or less as long as you bring Frozen Soil. I used this quest to get Legendary Survivor.

Jade Arena is pretty nice when it doesn't glitch.

Am I the only one that feels having the double faction weekend a week ago rather than this past weekend was a bit of dirty trick on anet's part? I'm among the people who used it as a chance to finally farm some jade for 15k Luxon armor so I spent all my faction on jade before you got the title bonus for doing so.

I mean how many people saw Luxon/Kurzick skills coming?

Yeah we kinda got ripped off. It doesn't help that there is no equivalent to the Sulfurous Wastes or RoT in Factions either. The boss bonuses seem a little out of line considering both SS/LB have a maximum effective title of 50,000. You need twice that to even attain the skills.

So, you are looking for a quick way to earn faction? I'm fine with there not being a way you can make 2,000 faction in five minutes, it devalues the title.

Ditto. On the Luxon side, this has to be the fastest, easiest way to get Xp + faction. On the other hand, it gets really boring really fast.

What grind doesn't get boring after a short period of time?

Fort Aspenwood is not alliance battle. Alliance battles are something completely different. Though i might be reading your post wrong.

Nah I meant both ways of doing it aside from NPC blessing or repeatable quest. I have just lost all patience for AB and specifically Fort Aspenwood competitive mission is out of hand with AFKers.
