This is the same, they do not need Templar-like armor. They are not weak puny humans with paper-think skin.
Charr armour is more of a case of covering strategic areas while lacking either the technology, resources, or the inclination to wear full armour. There are plenty of precedents for that sort of thing - for instance, before Roman equipment got standardised and legionnaires were expected to supply their own equipment, there was often a hodgepodge of having whatever pieces of leather and metal they could afford in strategic areas - because it was better than nothing.

Jora's "armour", on the other hand, seems almost specifically designed for the maximum loss of mobility with minimum protection. Even Sif comes across as better armoured than Jora does - Sif's outfit comes across both as more protective (even with the bare midriff), less restrictive, and less fetishy than Jora's.

I'll accept that Norns may have thicker skin - but it still makes sense that if they're going to wear armour, they'd at least wear armour that actually helps. Best explanation I can think of is that they have a cultural feeling that they're all a race of gladiators and hence they'll fight gladiator-style even in serious situations. That doesn't mean I have to like it, though - and I don't - so I really do hope there's at least one alternative armour option for her - that isn't too hard to get - that doesn't look like fetishware.

When you can turn into a bear, does it really matter how much armor you have?

Besides, in normal combat, there are very few times that you need to bend backwards (which is the only thing that strap restricts). You'd be surprised how much properly treated leather can move.

I take it no one even bothers reading the lore before they jump into a discussion =.=

1. Norn are a warrior race, they like (ill-favored?) battle. It's been said in the lore and so it reflects upon the game.

2. They're shapeshifters. Think about Jora shapeshifting into a bear while she's wearing full body covering armour. If she shapeshifts back, she'll have nothing to cover herself with, since her armor burst to pieces when she changed into a bear.

And thus, I take it from that view that the armor has a functional purpose rather then just a visual one.

Wasn't there a video showing game play, with 2 norns in the background hinting at the fact she can't shape shift in the quest talk you get on-screen.

Or was I drinking too much red bull that night?

Nah it's not good. It doesn't matter how big a norn's boobs are, they're not sexy. They've got nothing in their head but how to fight, girls have got to be clever, funny and smart to be sexy. Boobs don't change it.

Face it Anet, you should have made a mesmer with big boobs ;P

Don't you know the success of a game is directly proportional to the amount of cleavage you can see in that game?

Tomb Raider? Yeah, the first game was great, but most of its mass appeal came from the fact it was one of the first mainstream videogames to feature a female lead character.

The ingame render... totally out of proportion, she's actually about as chubby as she(he?) was in the concept art.

Anet, get more women in your art design =_=*

Less drooling 13 year old boys please :|
The bigger / taller the woman / person, the more out of proportion they usually are . And Jora is effin' huge!

Lol, I don't believe this. So what if the designers made them bigger? It's a non-issue.

Besides, art-work sometimes exaggerates certain things.

jora could quite possibly have THE most hugest boobs ever created on ANY game character since the dawn of man.

*stands in salute*

Guys guys guys breasts are a terrible and shameful thing and Anet is terrible for making voluptuous women I mean really every single woman in there should be flat as a board because girls having curves is incredibly unrealistic and anyone who could ever appreciate the female form is a drooling thirteen-year-old male.
