Actually i started this topic to mock at the pople ruining the work all those ingenious programmers do. I respect ANet very much, for delivering such a high quality game, for caring for their customers and most of all for being so daring to release a game that is different by all standards, and than the marketing department does THIS cheap trick to promote it. It is just disgusting, and it should be condemned by all who respect ANet's work.

Was bored and looked up the wiki entry for Amazons:

The original concept art of the battle ready Jora was much better.... Kinda adds the sold out kinda look to her now...

Maybe its just a distraction to keep all your perverted hentai eyes off the teenage Gwen.

I have to admit that the final design for Jora came out quite dissappointing.
Norn are mentioned as stocky, muscular giants; while now, this stereotypical Hollywood-clone is put forward, as if we haven't got enough of those allready!

The box art, she looks stoned

The ingame render... totally out of proportion, she's actually about as chubby as she(he?) was in the concept art.

Unless there are other armour sets available for her with *ahem* more coverage, I can see myself only using Jora when the plot forces it. I hate the Battle Bikini look - and in her case, with the link between the top and bottom part, she's lost one of the dubious advantages of such an ensemble (that of being more flexible around the torso - that doesn't look any less restrictive than a full breastplate made of whatever material that link is made of). It's almost like she's deliberately putting herself at a disadvantage - or at best is assuming that no enemy will be able to reach higher than her legs.

It's something that ANet have managed to restrain themselves on, with only one or two examples (for warriors) per campaign (although there are a lot of cases where the male version is complete while the female is missing faulds/tassets or cuisses, especially in Factions) so it would be disappointing if the female warrior hench has no choice apart from the "Battle Bikini". I suppose not needing to pull out the bikini-clad "warrior" is what Koss, Goren, Melonni and Kahmu are for...

(Glossary, for the uninitiated:
Cuisses: The armour piece that covers the thighs. Examples where cuises are present in male armour and lacking in the female include: Elite Templar, Shing Jea, basic Canthan.
Faulds/Tassets: The "skirt" of plate in plate armour that covers the hips and upper thighs, respectively. Examples where these are lacking in the female but present in the male include both forms of Kurzick (although the elite form almost gets away with it by virtue of having the greaves go so far up), elite Canthan, and both forms of Sunspear armour.)

EDIT: Mithran, I'd dispute the direct link between milk consumption and height, since I'm allergic and while I'm no basketball player, I'm not exactly a pygmy either...

I'm getting tired of the "sex sells" attitude, but what can I say. It's effective. So the games are made for 13-18-year-old straight boys - I'm a 22-year-old gay man. OF COURSE they won't add too many hot guys, girls/gay guys aren't their main public (and when we have it's usually romance, eeeh... GG. GIMME FIGHTS FFS). It's annoying, but that's how it works, and it's not about to change... *sigh*.

At least we have Sousuke, but he's not even legal >_>.

Seriously though, IDC much about hot guys in a game... it's a plus, but I deal without it. I use Dunkoro, Koss and Olias even though they're ugly as hell. Sure eye candy is fun, but it's usually not what attracts me to a certain game. If the game seem to suck gameplay-wise, no way I'm buying it even if it has the hottest guys on earth.

Anyways, back on topic... that artwork looks nice O_o.
