a) I've beaten Norn arena loads of times as warrior
b) I have R3 Norn after one day, the missions are repeatable for 500 Norn points and Rank 4 Hunter gets points in quick
c) I like having something to work to not just getting it all given to me
d) I don't like watching paint dry
e) Maybe you just don't like the game if your not willing to play to get points, there are lots of ways of gettng points please don't tell me you can't find how to get bountys, always have a bounty on and points come in while playing, it's too soon to just go point farming

Nobody is forcing you to use those NPCs. I'd understand why you're frustrated if you were forced to, but you aren't.
Also, I really don't see how you think the tournament is totally anti melee. My warrior wrecked the tournament multiple times, no problem.

and most of your points means grinding. and thats about as challenging as watching paint dry.
all this is just WoW rep grinding by a diffrent name. spending hours on end killing mobs.
and i never said it was impossible for melee classes to beat the arena. its just alot easier as a caster.
and i don't want things given to me either. but grinding? thats probably the most mind numbing thing in existence for MMORPG's. and one that really shows how much the devs thought this expansion through. or rather, how much they didn't....

And I'm not just being facetious. That's a great skill for a warrior to use in that tournament.

no i'm not forced to. but like most others i want the armors from those NPC's. and apparently grinding the cash isn't enough anymore for A-net. heck, they could add it as the final reward for beating that expansion instead but i guess the norn and the vanguard dont care much about having their race saved
need titles! >.<
and about the arena, guess i'm just a horribly crap warrior then.. but neither my guild nor my alliance could make/suggest a working build but had tons and tons of caster builds so SOMETHING about it is wrong.

Anti-melee? Strange, because my warrior is quickly becoming a favorite character after I've seen the damage he can do.

If you want it, grind the title then. If you don't want to grind, stop complaining, it's your choice.
The only thing wrong is your alliance obviously isn't experienced enough to make a build for a warrior.

Use one of those builds as your 2nd then, only need one skill to beat most of the challengers in arena and thats Ursan Blessing (sadly tied to the Norn title if you don't want to get points for it)

I really can't believe people are whinging about having to grind for titles already... it's a complete non issue.
Firstly, getting to rank 1 is mind-numbingly easy. That is all you need to get the base benefit of the title. After that, each successive rank gives you a tiny increase on the last one. For example the norn title gives +53hp, then +60, then +65hp (IIRC). This means if you want to achieve rank 1 and then not kill one single enemy more the entire game (because that's grind) then you don't have to.
Secondly, achieving a middle rank is easily achievable just by playing the game as normal. In one single day I managed to get to rank 3 1/2 on the norn title track just by playing the game and clearing one zone with a guildie. That's not even remotely grind.
I think that A-Net have achieved a well balanced level of 'grind' in the game that gives enough of a sense of achievement without forcing it on people who don't want to do it.

But they aren't whining about having to grind, they're whining about optional grind, which is worse.

not to mention, the norn rank points does not only increase on killing monsters, but if you talk to each npc on each rez shrine, they give you more. killing a few dozen monsters will give you exponentially more points.

The more you kill, the faster you earn it, you receive multipliers and bonuses such as the Hunt Rampage thingy skill...
Seriously, there is no grind here. You grab the bounty while working on quests and you'll have the title in no time.

yeah like im a warrior and one thing i do when a new thing comes out is explore around first thing i got was the bounty, by the time i explored the entire map i killed around 150 monsters, with bonus added on there were even more points! not only that but i bumped into collectors and monster locations quest givers and dungeon areas. No effort needed I do what I enjoy doing and it pays itself off.
And as for the tournament, I just used grenths balance and some good damage dealing skills and Im set! Well maybe a few defensive skill =P

It's not a totally optional grind.
If you purchase EoTN it's for the PvE skills. The normal ones are not worth the $40 tag, even for most hardcore PvPers. That being said, most players are forced to grind for the skills they want to use.
I'm going to suggest that EoTN be renamed "Build Wars: Grind of the North - Which is Primarily Populated by Boring Reskinned Enemies".

A) The rank 1 of the titles are easy to get, you get them from just playing the game, or is that grind?
B) The numbers could be escalated because it is a preview, and they don't want people buying armor.
C) Dungeons own.
D) Don't let the door hit you.

Heh....
How far are you in Lucky title? It's optional, right? After all, it only affects salvage and keys...
The titles will have insanely high requirements, so that hard-core can grind the same exploitable areas into oblivion (see Sulfurous desert for reference).
GW:EN contains many traits that on which GW2 will be built upon. One tiny detail are those "Slay the Big Bad Boss" messages. This is preparation for the event system in GW2. The skill progression and custom skills is also something for GW2, where you'll have fixed 8 skills, but those will get progressively stronger as you level.
Same thing with dungeons vs. explorable areas.
GW:EN is GW2 Lite. Not saying this ruins GW2 in any way, but that's what it'll be about.
And yes, just another MMORPG clone #58. Korean grind-fest style.
