My idea / whish / guess would be that any of your character can bring acchievements to the Hall of Monuments, unlocking special things in Guild Wars 2.

The best acchievement would / should count, like of one of your characters is "Kind of a Big Deal" and the other is "Very Important" you will get the very important unlocks.

Of all the stuff in GW:EN I'm most excited for HoM by far.
Scanning will probably "customize" items so you cannot trade/swap them later.

Okay I quote from the official Guild Wars wiki:

"The Monument of Companionship contains big statues of your unlocked hero companions and pets."

Umm what are they talking about when they say unlocked pets?... The ones that we've gotten via the skill Charm Animal I'm assuming?...

Yes which is a nice touch IMO, my wolf I capped in presearing has been with me for well over a year now as a faithful companion and it would be great that he (Lupin) would be remembered. Kudos Anet

Here's what I hope will happen:

Any Heroes, Pets, mini-pets, Weapons, Armor or Titles will simply need to be present on a character to "enter" it into the HoM. We will hopefully not need to store or lock the weapons inside, and since that obviously won't apply to Titles, Heroes or Pets, I don't see why it would apply to Weapons, Armor and mini-pets.

But, IF like unlocks like, (ie, a mini-pet will unlock a mini-pet in GW2), then some restriction will need to be made on "entering" items, or else people could just take one mini-pet, use it across 14 characters, and get 14 mini-pets in GW2! Or, maybe once a mini-pet is unlocked on an account, that's it, so you can't unlock more than one. So many questions! If only mini-pets were customized (Anet hasn't done it yet, though).

No, no, it's been said that the "unlocks" in GW2 will be unique for original Guild Wars users.

There should be no other way to get these unlocks. Thus is the benefit of owning and playing the original!

I'm guessing scanning for how the items get "registered" as having once been owned by you. Also i think that they're going to go with you have to choose which character is your new character's "ancestor" although i'd prefer everything just being passed on together.

will there be angry threads here when they find out the unique exclusive HoM GW2 minipet they unlock will not be able to be sold/traded but simply used by them?

remember the devs said that nothing in the HoM would give an unfair advantage over the new GW2 players and a few million in exotic minipets would be a very big advantage.

also the E3 video STRESSED that the HoM would be the ONLY way to get them which rules out buying/trading them.

I'll say this to everyone who wants to inherit their uber FoW armor:

For all we know, GW2 takes place in the future! Instead of rangers and warriors we'll have snipers and soldiers. If so, crystalline swords being inherited as, well, crystalline swords DOES NOT COMPUTE.

Also I think ANet needs to balance it so that those who are awesomely loyal to them over the years get goodies, but I don't think you should be able to inherit FoW/some equivalent of FoW in appearance OR function until you have beaten the game, or perhaps not at all.

I gurantee you GW2 will not involve guns. I will bet real money.

So the possibility of a new crystalline (customized) sword is very real. (although not guaranteed).

FoW armor is no cake walk. You can't just ebay it, you have to be Ascended and get to the crafter. Or do you mean beat GW2? I don't think that will be the case, I think you'll get the unlocks (relatively) soon after starting a GW2 Character. It is, after all, an heirloom, not a prize to beating the game...

If that's the case then almost no one will scan anything into the HoM until around GW2 shows up.

There's a list of the Exotic Weapons in the PvP reward Wiki page: Link
A dead sword is an exotic weapon? A Forgotten sword is an exotic weapon? Shadow Blade? Vertebreaker?! Crennelated sword? C'mon, and my beautiful shinobi blade is BASIC? My broadsword, which I have never seen another of, is fancy? It's the ugly patrol that's being classified as exotic and unique. GG, have fun storing awful looking weapons for your descendants to wield.

I simply hope that the weapons in GW2 are amazing.

I have a feeling that skins will transfer over. Item stats will likely change in GW2 and therefore GW1 stats won't work in GW2. Skins do not give a player any kind of advantage. I also believe that anything transferred from GW1 to GW2 will end up being customized on the GW2 side of things--which I believe holds true for minipets as well (so you can't sell the ones from GW1, which would give you an advantage).

Weapon skins are interchangeable, as all races will wield all weapons in GW2 (assumption). Armor, on the other hand, may be a bit different since humans are one of many playable races in GW2. If I want my new Asura character in GW2 to inherit my 15k Kurzick Necro Armor, he's going to have to have it tailored!

I have a feeling that "saving" an item in the HoM will be like the Festival Hats guy. You pay a small fee to have your item immortalized in your HoM, but you don't lose the item itself.

I also feel that there will be some sort of limit here somewhere. Think of how many weapon and armor skins there are in GW1. I think the exotic weapons will transfer over and the more basic or fancy ones will be available in GW2 standard. "Ooh, where'd you get that Crystalline sword?" "My great ancestor left it for me" "you know those don't exist anymore, right?" "Yup, I'm one lucky guy." "Yeah, I've just got this katana..."

As for armor, there are 27 armor skins for Necros (31 with GW:EN armors). That is 62 armor skins if you include both genders. Fast forward to GW2. That is 62 possible Necromancer armor skins a character can inherit. No problem if you are playing a human character, the transfer is 1 for 1. How do you translate the armor skin to a non-human character? With 6 playable races, that is 372 armor skins transferred from GW1 to accommodate each armor type, gender and race combination. And that is just for Necromancers. Using quick and dirty multiplication, that is over 3700 armor skins based on GW1 armors. That is a lot for the development team to handle, and it doesn't include GW2 armors. I'm still unsure how they're going to do the armor inheritance thing.

Ultimately, I'm not as concerned with the "how" of inheritance as I am with the "what." I want to know what I will get in GW2 for my hard work in GW1. If there is something I really want transferred, I can always work harder in GW1 to get it.

I also hope the inheritance thing is account wide. I'm working on as many titles on one character as I can (save Defender of Ascalon, Survivor and the Buy-A-Title tracks) just in case. I feel that some saved items will be account based (like armor and weapons) and some will be based on characters (like my Asura being a "descendant" of my Necro). Earning all of the titles on all of my characters to get all of the benefits on all of my GW2 characters sounds WAY too ridiculous.

k, I'm done rambling

GW2 NPC Quest giver: "Because your ancestor acquired the ancient Fissure of Woe armor as is evidenced in their Hall of Monuments, I will give you this quest so that you can unlock the ability to create this new GW2 armor skin. Once you have this ability unlocked, you can then collect all the materials and money that will be needed to create this new GW2 armor."

GW2 NPC Quest giver: "Because your ancestor acquired the ancient very rare Chrystaline sword as is evidenced in their Hall of Monuments, I will give you this quest that has a boss at the end that will drop a non-tradeable, customized GW2 skinned weapon. You will only get this drop from this boss once."

GW2 NPC Quest giver: "Because your ancestor achieved the highest Treasure Hunter Title as is evidenced in their Hall of Monuments, I will give you this quest that when completed will earn you an enchantment skill. This enchantment skill while activated will enable you to receive a 1% greater chance of rare drops while in explorable areas."

If that's the case..... the items unlocked in gw2 will be like the pre-order items we get, just a good skin with crappy stats that has the only use in taking up your storage spots.... if that's the case.... HOW POINTLESS!!!!!

Well, since we have NO idea how unlocked Weapons and Armor will work in GW2 (will they be skins that upgrade as character gains levels? or just useless, as you say), there is much speculation.

However, we do know that some of the unlocks will be Companions and Pets.

Those are what I'm really interested in, since I love having rare Ranger pets!

what were you expecting?

level 20 FOW armor having top level stats in a level 100 world?

a zoo of exotic mini pets you could sell and be instant rich big shot?

the devs have stated many times that the HOM unlocks will not put you way head of someone just starting GW2

think something like DEVINE AURA which does nothing but look good, cannot be sold or traded, but is one of the most wanted things.

the HOM will not set you up as an instant lord over all thse noob peasants

so if you are expecting to be rich and powerful you are crusin for a brusin

u are right, gw IS a game (at least the pve portion) about looks, i have nothing against that, but wut about ppl who dont really care about the looks, wuts it for them to spent hours capping titles to stack up HOM

???

Pretty simple: if the Title alone is not worth the time, gold or effort, don't do it!

Those expecting huge rewards from Titles will be disappointed.

(and, if for some reason a particular title does unlock something you want in GW2, you can always work on the Title after GW2 comes out).

In short, there is no reason to "waste" time on Titles or collections for GW2 unless you are interested in doing so in the first place.
