Well.. to start off, I'm trying to get the new rit and derv heroes, but I have some questions regarding the foes that you encounter in the mini-game/quest..

Is there a set order of appearance for the npcs you fight during the "Round One: Fight!" quest? I didn't bring a stance/block counter the first time and lost to Zehkuta.. second time around, he showed up as being the first opponent again. I know it's not much info to work on, but I'm thinking that there's a set order.

And... if there is, does anyone know the order, so I can come up with a build that will work? Thanks in advance c:

(if there is no order, then do the heroes show up in the first 5?)

No specific order nor do the same ones show up each time.
I did it about 4-5 times. Koss only showed up once.
The new Rit Xanadra? showed up twice.
Devona once.
I el oh el @ Little Thom using Firestorm and breath of fire. He showed up twice.

I heard there was a mesmer with enchant removal?
Never ran into him/her.

It's completely random. Only the boss is always the same.

There are nearly all npc you know in the tournament. The hardest / most annoying ones are these:

55hp Mhenlo (nearly impossible to kill without ench ripping or mass knockdown)

Old Mac with RANGER (!) Pet (2on1)

Danika with 2 other NPC in the same team (3on1)

Argo (earth/fire with his own special meteor shower skill and sandstorm)

ohh okay, so it was just luck that I got zehtuka twice in a row.

thanks then.. I'll just hope to get lucky

also, you guys are talking about the first/main quest, right? not the minigame that you can continue to participate in after completing it?

at beginning you'll get a gold bison offhand when completed. the next times you'll get bison tokens.

quest/minigame is the same.

Correction.

The most annoying is Eve.... She is set up as an SS / Insidious Parasite / Reckless Haste build. Alright if you're an elementalist. Not so cool if you're an Assassin. ;_;
All I could do was stop attacking (Critical Agility ran out too) and let her wand me to death.

[Edit: You're right about Argo though. The meteor shower thing wasn't so much of a problem, but you forgot to mention that he has Sliver Armor... -_-; ... That is 3 times now I've lost. First Lukas Vasburg (silly mistake), then Eve (SS) and now Argo. Does this game seem to think I'm just made of money or something? >_<;

isn't the bison guy the boss? you got joko as the 6th enemy? lol

-_- mmph I hate being a sin right now, lol. Looking at the list of foes, running a spike build I would be able to defeat at least 5 of the npcs.. I would just have to once again rely on luck.

And 100 gp times a high number..

I got both of them when running through and eventually fighting Bison... I also got Zehtuka as the first opponent.

Ever since then though, as you see above.... I've failed at the hands of SS, Sliver Armor, Empathy... and Headmaster Zhang beat me just by repeatedly blinding me and air-spiking me to death. My only heal is Way of Perfection. The Moebius + DB + Critical Agility build beats most enemies... but those bastards are completely beyond my ability.

haha, I run moebius too. <_< well there's really no build that can counter EVERYTHING, and anet made an attempt to cover a huge variety of builds in here.... so, meh. SS basically screws most people over <.<

Anyway I got my ugly crown.

Advice for warriors (cheap one but efficient) : if possible equip yourself with 4 different sets of weapons + shields....

The Bison for instance, I read that you have to run in order for him to lose his bear suit

....me I have a shield with armor +10 vs blunt damage & I face him & kill him easily. Same when you fight the nasty ranger, use a +10 vs piercing damage shield...& so on for the ele.

I even fought a ghost (kind of Rastigan from FoW) & gave him a good lesson.....

/Rt Spirit Spam hasn't failed me yet. =)

Although, I wonder what ANET was smoking when they made Danika have both of the Echovald Forest Necro Henches with her....

Danika is apparently one of the few monks in the tournament actually being ..... just a monk. Not a 55 like Mhenlo or a newly converted Mending-Wammo like Alesia (lawlz).... but an ordinary healer monk.
Without those two she would go down far too easily.

She went down easily for me anyway... friends or no friends. Death Blossom + Moebius dealt with them all nicely.

And yeah.... then I ran into Eve, and my character exploded all over the walls within seconds.

The only ones I found hard were Danika and Cynn on my Mesmer.

I used

Backfire
Ether-Feast
Complicate
Ignorance
Physical Resistance
Price of Failure

It worked really well and I'm sure if you wanted to a non-mesmer primary could run that fairly well and counter most builds with ease.

Danika isn't hard because both of the pets are only level 10 and as soon as you nearly kill one of them the match is over.

if u want to just get the 2 heros, just use the bear aspect, he kills them easy. can kill everything except the last guy, Argo and Mhenlo (maybe if u kill them before he uses healing breeze). wen fighting eve just use the bear skills, dont attack her any other way

That explains it.. I walked in with a mesmer who had conjure nightmare and phantasm and I swear.. I've never seen anyone drop health that fast.. mind you, if our dear friend only had 55hp to start with.. it explains it

MMMM I've played alot in tournament, with W/N Grenth's Balance Ripostes Build. Victory always :P, got my crown and a lot of 5minutes ales (drunkard here I come).

Build:
Grenth Balance
Riposte
Deadly Riposte
Final Trust
Distracting Blow
"You Move like a dwarf" (Norm Skill --> Insta KD ranged..10e 10recharge)
Heal Sig
Dolyak.

Just Using a +5e sword

I've played against:
-Zetuka (Trapper with Smoke Trap): easy just let him drop my life then Grenth Balance + "You Move Like a Dwarf" (Norm Skill), Then Final Trust ... Or interrupt all the traps and just kill him with sword And Ripostes
-Morghan (Paragon) : Pretty much the same but, just look when Dazed come.
-Little Tom (Noob War): Just Seat and laugh interrupt both ele skill with You move like a dwarf and dblow. then riposte.
-Talon (Sword War): Same just Ripostes
-Lukas : (riposte war with Auspicius parry) Same Just ripostes, but dont hit him cause he use ripostes too, so just deadly riposte.
-Alesia (LOL, Sever Artery Gash and Healing Hands plus healing breeze) : Interupts and riposte, but if u want let her low ur life and grenths balance.
-Devona (Hammer war): Riposte
-Melonni (Avatar of Dwayna Derv): You Move Like a Dwarf (ranged KD to Avatar of Dwayna), then Riposte.
-Norgu (Vision of Regret Mesmer with Empaty): Just let him cast hexes on you, when ur life is <100 grenth
-Ghoslty Hero (YESSSS THE SAME). Riposte and win, Just Interrupt Troll Ung
-Kisai (Air Ele with Glimmering Mark): Interrupt Glimering, then when ur health is <100 grenth balance and final trust
-Orion (Fire Ele Flare Spam): U can kill him without grenth, just hit him
-Cynn (Fire Ele Starburst): same not necesari grenth.
-Razah (Spirit Spammer Rit with Wanderlust): Interrupt all spirit and watch him die. Key spirit is wanderlust so interrupt that 100%
-Panaku (Moebius Strike Assa): Ripostes
-Kilroy (Same Alesia Skill) : See Alesia
-Danika (Monk and she apears with Sheena And Brutus 2 necros lvl 10) Quite Dificult, Just Health <100 Grenth Balance, + You Move Like A Dwarf + Dblow + Final Trust and win.
-Kahmu (Avatar Of Balthazar Derv): Riposte
-Gwen (Signet Of Midnight Mesmer): Try to interrupt Sig.. And Life <100 Grenth + Final trust
-Menhlo: (55 Monk With Protective Bond): Easy, Interrupt balth Spirit with You Move Like Dwarf, then Interrupt Blessed Signet with Dblow and win.
-Lo Sha (Illusion Mesmer lot of Degen): <100 Grenth + Final
-Vekk (Water Ele with Shatterstorm): Interrumpt Blurred Vision, then With Dolyak just Kill, Health sig if necessary.
-Koss (War with Shock): Ripostes and Dolyak
-Zho (ranger with pet) Just Riposte and interrupt troll
-Argo (Earth Ele with Sandstorm): 3 key skill Argos Cry, Sandstorm and Earth Attunemet. Interrupt Argos and attunement, then he will spam stone daggers, and health <100 grenth + final
-Xandra (Weird Rit) : Health <100 and kill
-Sogolon (Paragon): Easy, kill him with ur sword only
-Nika (Assa with Expose): Just Riposte
-Warmaster Tydus (Burning Arrow Ranger): Just Grenth Balance

-Magni The Bison (Hammer War with Devastating): 2 ways:
Interrupt Bear Form With You move like a dwarf and just kill him with riposte
Dont Interrupt, and ripostes and <100 grenth final trust

Thats all..
I've never played against necro, but i think it will be easy, just grenth balance

Still didn't beat Bison. Got close once and ran out of energy with my mesmer, but then only one I never beat aside from him was Danika and I only fought her the one time and wasn't focusing on just her (my bad).

I honestly thought Mehnlo was broken for the longest time because I'd hit him with conjure phantasm and he was dead in 5 seconds without me doing anything . I would cast backfire, but he never cast a darn thing.. just wanded me and stood there rapidly dying
