Default Choppy / Laggy Behavior

I'm wondering if others noticed a HUGE difference in gameplay this weekend. I'm on a very stable, decent DSL connection. I've never had any major problems with lag or choppiness in Guild Wars...ever...until this weekend. At first I thought "well I'm in a town, and the event just started. I suppose it will get better later." But no -- all weekend it was horrid. I even zoned back to other places like lion's arch and it went back to normal but as soon as I went to GWEN it was extremely choppy and very very laggy. This occured 100% of the time whether I was in a town/outpost or farming by myself or whatever. And it only happened in GWEN places. I even tried putting my settings down to low for graphics and it was still extremely annoyingly choppy...anyone else notice this??

I noticed an increase in lag/choppiness.

I lowered my sound performance bar, lowered the shadows setting, and made 1 other small adjustment (which i forget) and it helped.

Eye of the North outpost is still choppy and other towns drag to a lesser degree too (kind of like Kamadan always has) but that's just due to the large amount of ppl there.

Look at it this way. At least it's not as laggy as GuildWarsGuru.

yeah but just think of how many people were doing the exact same thing you were. there were several thousands of people in the GW:EN, whats why it was so laggy, as people beat the storyline itll tone down more and more. I noticed some lag in towns, but out in the explorables/dungeons I got no lag at all

It started off good, but as more people came over it got worse, really worse. Rubber Bands FTL!

With 4 million units, and even 10% of those playing, that's hellish. I also think GWEN has some mighty large textures - the snow and the rocks et al are very detailed.

lol@ the GWG gaff. If it weren't so popular, I'd not use GWG because of the lag. I wonder if loading into HoM takes longer than loading a forum for GWG.

for me, it was just the oposite. I havent run this good since they gave us hard mode. (at which point all my problems started. to many to list here). Im just hoping that the choppyness for me is (if only temprarily as I know it will be) a thing of the past.
