If you guys say that a new skin applied to an older model is a re-skin then shouln´t it be called a re-model lol? the skin is new the model isn´t so why re-skin?

Check custom skins made for Unreal Tournament for example, most of them are re-skins because the author sometimes just changes the colors here and there give it a new face or so and thats it (re-skin) so not much credit is given to those.

The problem with these new skins in older models in guild wars is because we players are usually looking for new, cooler, better looking, mean, armors and by designing a new skin in an older model it just looks too familiar and to be honest a bit meh.

But in overall for what i´ve seen so far Anet did a great job, thx.

It's the same model with a new skin placed over the top of it, thus it's a reskinned model.

My guess is that Anet thinks they REALLY hit the nail on the head with that model. They have used the same model in 3 different sets now, 5 if you include both sets of 1k+15k. I mean come on. Are they really that impressed with it? : /

re·skin /riˈskɪn/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[ree-skin] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–verb (used with object), -skinned, -skin·ning.
to replace or repair the exterior surface or coating of: The space shuttle had to be reskinned before returning to service.

re-
a prefix, occurring originally in loanwords from Latin, used with the meaning “again” or “again and again” to indicate repetition, or with the meaning “back” or “backward” to indicate withdrawal or backward motion: regenerate; refurbish; retype; retrace; revert.

Reskinning. As in re-doing the skin/texture. Doesn't matter the amount changed, you're still changing the skin associated with the particular model. You could change 10% or 100% of the skin and you'll still be performing the action of going back and skinning/texturing for the model. Call it a new skin, call it an old skin, whatever. Truth of the matter is that in English, what was done is that they've re-skinned the models.

No, its a reskin. Re-model would be a new/altered model which its not.

I didn't buy GW:EN just for the armors, and I cannot design 3D models, but , we have paid for something new, and I cannot believe that a " 3D model designer team " cannot create an entirely new armor model , they just made new skin on existing old models ¬¬ ... its like they are using the TEXTURE-Mod lol

wow that hurtz...as the endgame stuff are reskins...this was not unexpected. (not saying all GWEN armors are)

At least that's more money in the storage.

So basically Masks/headgears/gauntlets are the only thing that are totally new.

lol I think that armor is awfull, besides, is the exact same 3D model of Kuz 1,5k armor for warrior, but new texture (skin). Compare them... angles, sharps, tips, cuts... same.

If I was a competent 3D modeler who was getting paid to design and model armor sets, then yes. Reskins are something that amateur modders do for games like Oblivion (but even then, some of the better modders made completely new sets of armor).

lmao!! i can mod better armors than that. wait till u guys see the monk armors... can't even be called reskins coz they are just too much the same. i'd call them REDYE coz it seems u can dye different areas instead.

Why do these threads always turn into a bunch of programmers whining to the rest of the world to get a clue what re-skin means... we don't give a flying RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO. SOMETHING has been re-used and its VERY OBVIOUS. Thats ALL that matters.

That armour really is fugly. Especially the helmet. I can't imagine the female been any better, so i'll stick with my Primeval.
