Default Male Ranger Norn Headgear

I'm thinking about getting Norn armour on my Ranger. Unfortunately I've seen two pictures of it (on GuildWiki and the official wiki) with two different headgears - one is a fairly nice looking standard Ranger mask. The other is a fugly half-belly-dancer mask. Which is which? (I don't want to end up buying the wrong one :P)

There's a Mask

http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Ranger_Norn_armor

and the face paint (two versions) which are available to everyone I believe.

Look here, post 23. http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...0190010&page=2

Norn Woad and Highlander Woad, 5 vellum, 5 ink, 10k.

If I got the Norn Woad (I suspect that's what the headgear in the Gwiki picture is) would that count as part of the 'set' for Hall of Monuments purposes?

EDIT: this is the picture I was talking about

Hall of monuments holds armor if it has chest, gloves, legs, and feet. mask isn't required.

Yet, I am scheming on a Mo Zing Mask for my Norn Ranger armor.

The picture you linked shows the mask, NOT the Norn Woad. Woad's are facepaint... both of them. One is horizontal, the other vertical. You don't appear to want a woad, you want a mask.

But I thought the mask was the half-face thing? Is there a common-to-all-profs mask that I've missed? Or is it like the Prophs Elementalist armor, with more than one headgear piece per armour set?

It would be less confusing if you didn't describe it as the "half-face" thing since the mask and both woads cover half the face. If you're talking about the vertical woad (a la Braveheart), then that is head gear available to all professions. As Achilles points out, the image you linked to shows the ranger mask that completes the Norn armor set (which isn't necessary to show in your HoM). Clear as mud?

To be even clearer than mud, the woads show your lips (as it is face paint).

The Ranger Mask does not. The one in your picture is a Ranger Mask, not a Woad.

Question: Do Woads have the same armor, or does it vary by profession like the Bison Crown?

The armor for the Woads vary by profession, much like the Bison Crown or any of the gauntlets or headgears you can get throughout the north. The Woads are just like the Asuran glasses, the Dwarven bandanna, etc... whatever profession you use to buy it, the armor stats will be linked to the profession specific stats.

Sorry, I realise I could've been clearer. As I understand you guys, the black mouth-covering mask in the picture I linked is the correct Norn Ranger mask, while the vertical belly-dancer type mask is one of the all-professions sets. That's exactly what I needed to hear, thanks

I can answer that. All of the non-profession headgears (bandana, crown etc.) have whatever armour rating is 'max' for your character's prof (80 for Warrior char, 60 for Monk etc.), and they have the same inherent bonuses (e.g. +30vs Elemental for Rangers)
