I think the main thing is that thougih lots of peopel are playing eotn atm, which means drop will suck. that being said, i was sure that at least the whties would be max dmg. this certianly does blow compared to the awesome drops of the preview weekend.

People playing doesn't have anything to do with it. The explorable area you enter is yours unaltered by anything (besides server lag and stuff), meaning a million people could be playing and you could get 15 rares. They have no effect on whether you get rares or not, it's usually just the luck of the draw. 10-20% rare drop rate being that draw.

The preview weekend probably had an upped drop rate.

The whites are not maxed damage or even reasonable most of the time, because it's still programmed that only things to drop near max/ max damage things all the time are lv 24+. We mostly fight lv 20-23.

All I know is my drops suck and i personally think aNet hates me.

Maybe they browse the forums find common themes from your type on the boards and your type in game and determine there is a link and make your drops better worse depending on your 'love' for aNEt.

I am kidding.... I hope.

Not kidding about the drops though, I have yet to get a max gold from EoTN. Every drop i get is merch food.

Well the fact that a few of you have gotten some decent loot gives me hope, at the same time though it's still all crap drops for me. I did manage to get a diamond, and some past wintersday drops, but those were from end dungeon chests.

I'm glad it's not just me though. Well I don't mean that as in i'm glad other people are getting newb drops, but i'm glad i'm not just that unlucky. Tonight I went ahead and bought 22 lockpicks, which is all I could really afford after I got norn armor for my rt/p. I'll see if my luck picks up at all. So far, it's the same story.

The drop rates of everything are horrible in this game

i done 2 dungeons and both rewards with req 11 and req 13 swords or staffs that were merch food. I have battled a ton of bosses but not a single green. No polymock pieces.

But what bugs me the most is the fact that I am fighting level 28 monsters BUT THEY DONT DROP A WHITE MAX ANYTHING! Seriously what is wrong with this picture?

This expansion is made for level 20 characters. How about lvl 20 equipment to be dropped from HIGH level monsters?

I done arachni's haunt twice (first time had to quit cause couldnt kill boss) and not ONE single gilded edge was max, and about 20 of them dropped. And those are nice swords too.

just spent another 2 1/2 hours grinding the mountains -- officially:

1 purple max item.
0 blue items
0 gold items
Total from merchant after all the drops == 726g
(drops not including collector items -- i'm keeping them... cuz well, i'm a sap)

But...I'm rich! lol

BTW -- hopped into NF to use up old keys -- had to fight my way to a chest -- in 20 minutes i made 2k from drops and 2 golds from 2 chests.

apparantly GW hates me in GW:EN areas lol

To all the people complaining, among any number of trivial things, have you all ever tried salvaging? Not for mods, but just for materials?

Superior Kit costs 2k, from which you can easily get 250 iron, which covers 1250 gold by itself, if you sell it to the merchant, then along with all the other materials you get you have decent profit.

It seems most people have their noses so high in the air they can't see the money at their feet.

How many of the people citing bad drops have been playing hard mode for the last couple of months? Could it just a case of getting used the good drops that HM brought? My drops in GW:EN have been el crapolla too, but I don't remember the other campaigns being any better before the advent of HM.

I salvage the stuff that was meant to be salvaged, like monster armor, but you usually get more money from IDing even the white weapons in GW:EN. You can easily make the cost of the ID kit up with 4-5 white or blue drops, even without the higher selling price mod/Show Me The Money! inscription.

Besides, I tend to hold onto the materials I salvage.

Edit: Cellardweller, I play HM occasionally, but not on a regular basis. GW:EN drops frankly suck compared to other level 20+ areas of the game. I got much more grape/gold/plat running around the fire islands and jade sea than I've had anywhere here.

Needed a new bowSTRING for my ranger's bow...had to go farm one from bergen. Why? Why don't I get any decent bow drops in GW:EN? Golds...maybe once or twice. When I first got to EOTN with my warrior I opened three chests and two were golds, but that's where it ended.

fix now plzthx
So where did it say "play EN and golds will drop like mana from the heavens" exactly?

There's nothing to fix, its random, I've cleared whole maps without even getting a blue item, big f'ing deal.

My dungeon trips usually give me a result like this:

1. I get white items, 3x more than my almost emptied inventory can hold.
In the 2nd level I usually start salvaging or throwing stuff away.

2. The loot quality is indeed usually low, whites and purples at max. But also some golds drop.

3. There are tons of chests and hidden stuff you can find with Light of Deldrimor. The hidden chests mostly give around 125 gold or sometimes an Onyx or Diamond.

If you want more golds, you need to open the chests. The gold drops are mostly not worth the 1,2-1,5k for a lockpick. You have to hope for a good upgrade like +30 HP, +5 energy or 15^50 to make some money.

There are not really "rare" skins that give you some 50k anymore, the economy has changed a lot.

In the very long run you break even, you spend a lot on lockpicks and mostly get crap, sometimes you get a good upgrade to give you back some money. We should not forget, most players have a 50-60% chance not to break the pick. It is no longer a way to get rich.

But good stuff drops, usually from the mini bosses: r9 Tyrian Sickle, dropped for an Elementalist who could not appreciate it. Sigh!

MY SUGGESTIONS:

1. Less loot
2. But higher quality loot

Right now more white items drops than one can carry. I would say 3x times your inventory, assumed you have only a few slots filled with weapons and 1 minipet.

Totally agree with this thread. A few guildies and I were talking about the same thing the other night. Not sure what's going on but the drops and the chests have been awful for the whole of GW:EN so far.

We saw some promising drops over the preview event with a few (high req) platinum weapons from chests in frostmaw and looked forward to some nice drops from the dungeons but since the full release the loot has been very very grim.

One thing I find disappointing is that you can spend a lot of time fighting all the way through a dungeon, kill the end boss and then get a crappy high req gold out of the chest as a reward. Come on a req 13 items which is rubbish as a reward for a lot of hard work? Ok get loot on route and loads of dwarf points but an end reward for a dungeon should be worth something at least shouldn't it?

I am not expecting much from the simple one levellers (indeed the lair of the snowmen is a nice candycane stocker) but those challenging ones like Kathandrax and the Catherdral should give a little better than rubbish surely....

However I put up with it as have to.... afterall, been used to sucky purples from chests most of the time no matter where

This is a direct result of all the:

"OMG A.net you have destroyed the game"
"A.net caters only for casual players, for elite players now the game is fu--ed"
"Sh-- now every noob will have a runic blade or dwarven axe for free"
"There are no more rare and unique items in this game, I quit"

coming from some well known high end collectors.
Probably to address those complaints A.net has reworked the probability of drops.

Anyway, every player looks only to what happens to him.

Try to look in a global perspective.
You're not the only one to clear a dungeon: in the same time you're doing there are probably other thousands players doing the same.
The same dungeon is cleared hundreds if not thousands of times every day.

If there was a runic blade or stygian reaver for every successful run, there would be thousands of them every day on the market.
So it's normal that most of the times drops are junk, otherwise in a short time no drop would be worth anything.

I remember the time of b/p in ToPK, 99% of the times you received useless green ele or mesmer greens. It took me more than 20 runs to get a Victo's shield, that was the most valuable item in that period.

If you take a look in the trade forum, you'll find tons of gold/green items for sale, and prices are already very cheap, and this just one week after EOTN release.
In one month, players will merchant even r9 gold items.

The global perspective eh?...*looks through forums* yep, everyone is pretty much tired of these crappy drops except the very few selling GW:EN items and basically exploiting people for their money.

Pleeeease, take a look through the sell forum, there are hundreds of players who open hundreds of new auctions every day, tons of perfect weapons that nobody buys ...

Very few exploiting people for their money? LOL, if you go there you find r9 platinum longbows for 15k, platinum staves for 5-7k, I've seen perfect greens like Koren's hornbow sold for 2k, 2k WTF?
If you want to craft a hornbow from weapon crafter you need 5k + materials and then you need to put inscripion and upgrades.

After only 1 week of EOTN, the market is flooded with perfect items sold for cheap, this is the best situation I've ever seen, I can buy all I like and the only thing that stops me from buying more is lack of storage space to hold items ...

My drops have sucked pretty bad too. Strangely, I seem to get a lot of crappy blues.

I am not wealthy by any means. I am not going to pay 1.5k for a friggin lock pick that will probably break on me AND I will get some shitty purple to come out. If this is some sort of "gambling" that Anet has introduced for a gold sink why don't they just stick a merchant in town, you give him 1.5k, and he gives you a random item. Done. If I buy a lock pick for 1.5k, yes, I do expect a gold item or something that at least has a value of 1k.

Drops in GW:EN suck.

Even on the Glint Challenge Mission and the very last mission of the game -- I get mostly NON Max items. Items that sell to the merch for 10-30g AFTER id'ing them. That is freakin unbelievably bad. More than half of my items are of this nature. Then 2/3 of the remaining half still aren't max they just are slightly better. All of the other campaigns have better drops than this. I hope they fix this.

I agree - to me even just making the whites more like hard mode - or even Mineral Springs NM level of whites would be a step up. In an area built for level 20s why drop junk for level 7 characters?

I still have yet to get a gold not in a dungeon chest - but I tend to have that sort of luck anyways so I don't know its worse than normal or not

I was just talking about this!

A runic blade drops from oola's chest... YAY!

it's req 13... .... 2 1/2 hours of work for this (my comp SUCKS so i work very slow)

it's really terrible

And I say this again. Why am I fighting lvl 28 forge masters and NOT getting at least max white drops?
