Default Purchaing ingame store more expensive than buying from retailers?

Well I find GW:EN is ok for the money. It is not the final Epic adventure that make you rush out and pre-order GW2 but it is till a good game on its own

What annoyed me is that that when I pre-ordered it online it cost me 35 Euro altogether (5 Euro for pre-order and 30 Euro for game). But the shops are selling them cheaper. Why is that? Shouldn't pre-order online cheaper?

Hey, you're lucky that you're paying in the right currency
I paid in GBP when i live in Australia (it would be almost $20 cheaper for me to have paid in USD or Euro)

If they want to actually have retailers selling their games, this is what they have to do. The retailers wouldn't like it very much if ANet sold the game cheaper than they do.

purchasing anything online from the publisher/manufacturer is almost alwasy more expensive than specialist retailers

whether that's games, wine, electronics, or sofas

It's more expensive because its easier and faster.

You EoTN from a website you have to wait for it to get posted to you, can take the best part of a week.

You buy it from the online store and you have it that exact same second.

You do also get the "free" stuff as well with the speical mission pack, and the ability to buy more things - Character Slots, PvP Editions, Collector Upgrades.

How long do you think it will be before they decide to sell you Gold through the online store?

It's a calculated risk. I decided to purchase from a retailer instead of the online store since it saved me about AU$20. With retailers however we had the issue here in Australia that the shipping was delayed and we got our game 3 days late, after the first weekend was already over.

So, online store is reliable, retailers not so much. So it's with that that you need to decide if the price is worth it.
