what it all boils down to is whether or not this site will allow the issue of freedom of speech to threaten their 'Leet' Status with Guild Wars

i have noticed that the 'I Love GWEN' camp doesnt seem to have the locked threads that the 'I Dont Love GWEN' camp does.

their have been calls by members to the admins to delete or lock such perceived negative threads which is strange really, or predictable i am not sure, some people are unable to discuss a matter objectively and will try to stomp on it

Elisa's post [I quote]

Newsflash, most of us love it"

is quite informative if you look closely enough

ie "We don't want to hear about all your emo reasons every FIVE THREADS"

or

"and the rest of us would not have to weed through the MILLIONS of threads about how "shit" GW:EN is."

Of Course Elisa is exagerating but the Truth be known that there are a lot of people out there who feel Anet have really mushed this one up

with regards to the threads it might have been easier for admins to have placed two separate areas here

the

'I Love GWEN' area

and the

I Dont Love GWEN' area

clearly placed at the top of the forum and stricky'd there for all to see

locking threads on this subject is both detrimental to anet but more importantly to GURU

I think the reason threads get locked or removed has less to do with the opinions contained within, and more to the fact we have several threads all complaining about the same thing.

There should be ONE general GWEN complaint thread that is heavily moderated. I do agree that flame-posts should be removed individually, and an entire thread should not be removed because of the actions of a few bad apples.

first of all you are confusing a public property areas free speech area with going into a private residence which this site is with very specifically stickied HOUSE RULES OF BEHAVIOR

if you dont like those rules you simply dont enter

the owner of the property this site can and will legally enforce the house rules

maybe because they stay within the stated rules and the anti posters go waayy over the line?

please tell me if an OP stating that the people at Anet are A@@HOLES (censored by me they spelled it out) because a pve skill was balanced is or is not going too far.

no it is not

2+ years ago this site was actually fun and enjoyable to visit.

a few days ago someone posted the simple truth.

she/he said

*after reading these forums you almost need an antidepressant*

i am one of the handful of people who are still here who are playing GW simply for the fun of a very nice pretty fun game

NOTE that at no time have i ever said it was perfect and factions was a wart in my opinion as i never got past that city just to grind faction

look at the site now and exactly who makes complaints about what and when they do it

GWEN sums it up perfectly

1. loot complaints

2. the armor is not stuff it in your face i have it you dont quality

3. HOM basically i cant put every i have it you dont item into it so i can show off

this has gone from a its fun to play site to a look how hard i worked i deserve it hardcore farm/trade/item site .

and all those people who have left?

most of them still have fun playing GW

they just dont come here any more

too depressing

Default Not what I had in mind either!

GWEN was the ultimate letdown for me.
I absolutely hated the "gamey," and "humorous," parts of the game including, but not limited to:
1. Kilroy Stonekin
2. the quest where you drink beer and stack ale kegs
3. the dwarven brawling tournament
4. Polymock
5. the fighting tournament with Magni
6. fighting the Norn at the resurrection shrines
7. the snowman dungeon and its snowman reward
8. the giant snowballs
This kind on inane filler junk should not be a part of a good RPG. If they insist on amusing the teenies, it should at least be optional - not required to unlock heroes and skills.
The story line and dungeons are not bad for Guild Wars, but the cutesy add-ons are enough to make me gag whenever I encounter a new one. All of the good programmers they have must have been assigned to GW2, leaving GWEN to the lesser lights.

Incase you didnt see it he also added Heroes as a PRO. Hes not saying you should play with him or anyone else. hes saying that those who DO like to play with others is harder because everyone is playing with themselves(pun intended)
Hes not trying to force anything on you or anyone else. So as YOU said .shut it.

Pros: More quests
Did I mention that I love quests?
And if you don't do the rush through the primary quests thing, it takes some time to get to the end. (some things could be a little harder though)
A lot of players choose to run over the content.
I think some got a problem by getting to the end as fast as possible, instead of taking all the side quests, dungeons etc. they meet on their way.
Its easy to blame Anet for lack of content if you only played 30% of it!
As example, just take a look at all these runners in prophecies.
The length of the quests is not longer compared to what you went through in prophecies. How can they be to long annyway?
The Dungeons, I think they are as good as missions.
Hmm bad drop rate? Wonder how my guild m8s can afford their lock picks.
Me, I never buy them anyway, instead I used the gold to give my necro a vabian set, which is my 3rd elite set in GW. Oh and I got gold enough for that by doing the Norn and Vanguard part of the game (playing 1-3 hours a day and a bit more in the weekends). So what nerfed drop rate are you talking about?

Have to disagree with you here. It's good to have humor in RPGs. And how is the fighting tournament "cute?" That is not an easy part of the game... at least for me.

My favorite parts so far have been Killroy Stonekin and the rabbit that leads you to death.

The sad part is... with as much discontent with GWEN as I've seen on these and other forums, not one word from Anet. Oh sure we get the blind GW purist zombies jumping to their defense. But Anet just sits back and counts the money, figuring most will forget by the time GW2 comes out. Fool me once shame on you...fool me twice shame on me.

Well, fooled no more. There are too many better choices worth the 10-15 bucks a month. I guess you do get what you pay for. Hellgate:London. Halloween 2007.

I'm sure the fanbois will say, "Good! Go ahead, and don't let the door hit your ass!" Say that in 18 months when the servers shut down because there are ten people in Kaineng Center AD1. EotN gonna keep everyone satisfied for 18 months?

I'm sooo sick of all the QQing...

How many of all the fanbois (sic!) have you nay-sayers (for if the people that enjoy GW are fanboys than those spamming this board are indeed nay-sayers) heard saying GW: EN is perfect in every aspect? Don't think i've seen one. How many of those displeased at GW: EN have you seen appreciating the positive sides? Errr, same answer as above? Now doesn't that tell you that maybe those "ardent defenders" of GW: EN may be a tad more objective than those writing a gazillion posts on the same issue?

Now, I, as a true fanboy, am having a blast playing GW: EN. I hate parts of the HoM (posted once on it), I don't like all the re-skins, but I truly am enjoying playing the game and feel in no way cheated out of the money I payed for it (and payed once and only once).

What all of you should do is try out the other great mmorpg out there; the 1 with 8 mil. gold farm... err i mean players and then come back and whine about the armors, the grinding and the gameplay in GW. Man, that was 1y of my life gone into a huge time and money sink...

Ofc criticism can be constructive, but this is already too much.

Well Mac,

You obviously miss the point, the "Nay-Sayers" are not complaining about the direction Anet took. We are not complaining about Skills balances or nerfing skills. They are basically complaining about being ripped off and having a half ass, quickly tossed together product sold to us at full campaign price. I personally am more disappointed than angry with A-net. I've really come to expect more from them. So I would say it's the folks who blindingly follow Anet, dare not breath an ill word of them, and who are just happy to have something else to fill their otherwise empty day. These are the ones who aren't objected enough to see when they have been sold a bag of goods. lol. Wow! Another Box with GW on the front! I'll buy it!

Also, one final note...If you notice Anet uses Fansite forums to interact with their fans. I personally don't agree with this concept. Because as a paying customer (of any product), I expect to be able to provide my customer feedback to the company. Without a bunch of Fanboyz flaming what I have to say. But this is the method they use. I think personally so they can have the fanboyz fighting their battles for them. Sure they have tech-support and someone to contact for financial issues...but try letting them know an opinion and your will get a nice little email telling to to post in the forums. With that said... LET US DO IT! These forums are supposed to be our conduit to Anet...I see both Fanboyz and Naysaers trying to censor the feedback and shut it down. Oh and let not forget the little smoke and mirrors they play....Anet uses the fan-sites to interact with the players and get their input, BUT the fan-sites are private and can censor anything...doesn't that process seem inherently flawed? Not to mention the gang of Fanboyz and Whiners patrolling the forums flaming every opposing comment.

This is an attitude I find totally perplexing - why on earth play a multi-player online game if you want to play alone? Surely the one big plus point to an online game is being able to play and chat with other people, and if you prefer solo play then an offline game offering a better storyline, lots more depth, content, options and features is a better choice?

Because there isn't an offline game that offers the same play-style. Oblivion tried, but was hobbled by the stupid advancement system and monster/drop level scaling which destroyed the MMO feel.

Honestly, the closest thing to an offline game offering a similar experience is .Hack, which really doesn't fill the boots at all.

QFT. Those who like it for what it is, will enjoy it and have a great time. Those who don't like it might play it anyway for some reason, then QQ about it here and there, move on to other game, then QQ about other game.

Don't like it, stop playing. Simple as that. I for one like GW:EN and I think they did an alright job. I mean, hell, compared to WoW where you have to pay out the ass every month Anet is pretty good.

This is the attitude that I actually find perplexing. Why should we not be able to play alone? Should I tell my wife and kids that they have to hold on, because I am in the middle of a dungeon with online people that I never met or have not known 5 minutes prior? Seriously, give me a GO RED ENGINEGO RED ENGINEGO RED ENGINEGO RED ENGINE break. I play alone because I wont be tied to any commitments whatsoever. I chat with guildies. I chat with friends. But I should NOT be restricted to a certain playing style just because YOU think it should be like that. If you want to PuG, fine, thats your choice. But idiots and little peons that keep saying 'STOP PLAYING SOLO IN A MP GAME TARD!' need to get out of their habitat (ie-mom's basement) and get a life.
