This is what really annoys me. They take the time and effort to make the heroes look unique, but give us just reskins. It's OBVIOUS that they are capable of designing new armor, and I do believe that some reskins are good to have, but there's no excuse to give us nothing but poorly thought out reskins that just mix-and-match armors to try to pass it off as "new" while making our heros look amazing. Why should they care more about what heros look like than their own customer players?

Armor isn't even the only problem. Weapons and creatures are mostly re-skinned, and even dungeons copy and paste levels to save creative time. As someone pointed out, the reason people care about armor is customization. ANet clearly knows this, and anyone that thinks it's not important obviously only cares about themselves and not the fact that the majority of players put more pride into their characters than just getting them the cheapest max armor they can find.

We paid $40 for a game with "40 new armor sets" that are mostly rushed reskins, "18 multi-level dungeons rife with traps, puzzles, secret passages, and dangerous foes" which are nothing more than simple underground hack-and-slash territories, and for a "Hall of Monuments to preserve your achievements, trophies, and titles across all Guild Wars games, allowing descendants to reap the benefits of your character's fame in Guild Wars 2" but is so limited in what we can put in it making it more like a cheap vault than an actual display room of memories and proud accomplishments. I like GW:EN, but the only thing that will justify the price of $10 less than the other games is the fact that there's no monthly fee so I can be playing this for a while... until they finally just abandon GW1 cause it's not making them money any more.

There are so many beautiful and creative things about GW:EN, it's just really disheartening that so much they hyped up and promised us would be amazing ended up being rushed and disappointing. ANet has a lot of talent and a lot of potential, but giving us a poorly designed expansion (the fact that it is an expansion having no reason for it to be any less good thanthe campaigns) doesn't exactly inspire hope into our hearts that GW2 is going to have the same enthusiasm as Prophecies did when it came out as the years go on.

I think most of the armours are fine as reskins, they at least tried something different with the look. That's not to say that I'm all for it, but at least the reskins look pretty alright. EXCEPT for the monk. Those armours are not even design different. Instead of reskinning 3 different monk armours they just reskinned the same armour 3 times, and they're the ugliest of all the armours as well. I was so disappointed.

So far the only GWEN armour I'm going to bother getting is Norn Ranger and Asura Rit. They're the only ones slightly work the gold.

Here is an Idea for everyone. Anet pushes the whole "Design a Weapon" contest. How about a design an armor contest and put the winners in the endgame for GW:EN as an option.

Just a thought.

I tried suggesting it to Gaile, but she didn't think it was possible.

Norn armors don't even look like real norn armors. Jora is a norn, so i guess she's wearing a norn armor. So why does female W norn armor look so different ?

I like gwen pretty much. Campaign is a bit short, but dungeons are nice. But weapons and armors deserve to be more than ugly reskins.

what really annoys me is the Hero armor. WHY do heroes get new armor and we don't? obviously new armors were designed but they don't let the players have it. we get the shit reskins instead. i would be happy if we could have the hero armors instead if the asura, vanguard and dwarven reskins.

gwen's upgraded armor is gorgeous, how come we don't get at least similar things??

I’m not buying any new armour this time round.

Perfectly happy with my Ele’s Vabbian.

Just need a pair of those tinted glasses to go with it though!

I'm just sad that my necro will still be wearing his 15k canthan.
None of the male necro armors are nice.

Otherwise I think gwen is gorgeous and is a good value for what we paid for.

Good Weapon Design.
Good Hero Armor Design
EXTREMELY BAD and RUSHED Player armor design.

Exteremely imbalanced cost for obtaining armors as well. 75 ectos for a pair of gloves? 250 destroyer cores for a pair of gloves? Considering drop rates of those, it will take forever unless you make gold by farming like crazy or utilize "other" means.

Requesting to retouch the armors. The color combinations are odd as well. Look at Silver Eagle for example and see what you can dye and how they look on each body piece.

Also, please make drop rates of collector item ingredients logical. Rare items should not mean that you grind your butt to get it. It should be challenging and fun to get it. Why are you moving towards grindfest to retain your customer-base? They will move on to other things. You will retain customerbase if you provide intelligent content in a bug-free and exploit-free environment.

Hmm, I don't understand. ANet should have known, after more than two years of MMORPG-developing, what customers/players want. Somehow, MMORPG players totally LOVE armor/weapon skins and stuff like that. (Hence why playing as a wurm was totally appreciated in Nightfall). Why don't they spend a little longer skinning some armors and weapons? I know this doesn't take long at all from personal experiences and reading about it... If they want satisfied (read: buyers who will keep buying) customers, put some nice armors/weapons in the game..

The Eagle set is NOT part of the "40 New Armors".

Its #41.

Theres something peculiar with that armor set....

My hunch tells me theres supposed to be 50 armor sets. Wheres the other 9?

This is also what I don't understand. Personally, I didn't buy the game for armors. I was hoping for some new choices, and I'm disappointed to see that many of the new armors share the same design elements with previous choices I didn't like. Usually if I don't like an armor, it's the basic design, rather than the skin, that I don't care for (such as the female assassin Imperial/Asuran -- probably my least favorite armor in the entire game). But I can live with this, especially since there are fine choices in the other campaigns that don't require grinding for reputation.

But I understood, even before the game was released, that there are players who live for new armors and weapons. And I can understand how frustrated those players must be to see heroes with 3 sets of new armor each, and see that even the Tengu got new armor (I couldn't find any previous Tengu that shared armor with the Quetzal), while players mostly get obvious reskins. There's nothing wrong with reskins in general -- most people would not notice the flesh golem/charr connection for example -- but the armors in GW:EN were immediately noticeable as reskins to me, and I'm usually oblivious to such things. So I can see how the people who had already noticed reskinning between Prophecies/Factions/Nightfall armor (which I never noticed) would be put off by these.

And I don't understand how ArenaNet wouldn't see that the GW:EN customers are its primary GW2 customers, and many of them (right or wrong) will take GW:EN as a sign of what's to come in GW2. I think the more reasonable among us understand that GW:EN is not a sign of what's to come, because the shortcuts taken are a result of their best efforts currently being focused on GW2. But it's a bad idea to assume that your customers are reasonable, and managing customer perceptions is an important task for any business to master.

Now personally, I'm glad they spent time where they did, because I value gameplay more than items. And I think the gameplay in GW:EN is the best of all of the campaigns. But I hope this is a calculation that pays off, and that I'm in the majority of the player base, and the people who care about items and skins are in the minority. Because it seems they may lose some of the latter group as customers.

That's it, we should take it to the court and let the judge decide rather the armors are new or reskin, let him to decide rather anet has deliberately mislead/lie to us in the advertisement. Anet is an US company ffs, they should not get away with this.

"just a little expansion"? Shouldn't it be like $20 then?

The final kick in the pants is fact that they obviously spent lots of time on armor sets for the HEROES, which look 10x better than the players...

Please, show me a few good weapon designs originating from GW:EN.
