I have to agree that adding glasses really is the bottom of the pile in terms of stuff they could have done. We have re-hashed armors and yet they had the time to add glasses? Hmmm!!

It would have been ok if they had more choice ontop of glasses. Like maybe hair dye or facial hair and the rest! But just glasses by themselves is an anti-climax.
I agree in a sense. I personally like the glasses and think they are a cool addition, but as exactly as you said, unique ways to customise your characters appearance, there needed to be something. It seems to me that these stand alone pieces are not actual ways to customise your characters appearance, but rather to add some odd looking armor on your toon. I would of prefered to change my characters skin tone, hair, earings, jewelry, facial hair, maybe some normal clothes or dresses you can walk around town in. But again, what most people expected and what we got are two different things.

I consider most Vabbian stuff to be the 'stepping-out' clothes.

I like my bandana. I only wish I could add shaded specs to complete the biker look I'm going for.

On the other hand I think it's a bit weird that a fantasy-oriented game like this has bandanas, glasses and whatnot, but on the other hand they do look pretty good.

Wait, why don't bandanas and glasses belong in a fantasy-oriented game?

Well, I don't really associate those objects with a somewhat medieval theme where there are wizards throwing fireballs and warriors hitting stuff with axes. The bandana just has a "Thanks ANet for pimping my face" vibe, if you ask me.

Man I can't belive people complain so much about EVERYTHING. if there is item you think is ugly, then you dont have to get it, how hard is that to understand? If you want something then the requirement to get them shouldnt bother you either, if it does, you must not want them bad enough.

ummm, unless I'm mistaken, the bandana/kerchief has been in use for centuries as a head covering, namely amongst the peasant classes. Just because it's used for modern 'pimping' doesn't mean there weren't people centuries ago using them.

Yeah, but they aren't really used in the middle ages with such intrecate designs. Peasants couldn't afford such fine embroidery. It looks more like a part of a 17th century pirate outfit if you ask me.

Another thing I don't get about people bitching that we can craft glasses for our characters...

Many Canthan NPCs have glasses, and have had them for over a year, so what's so wrong about player characters having them as well?

That's right, nothing.

As someone with a little modding experience (I'm primarily a Texturer, to be honest) ... it wouldn't take a freakin degree in rocket science to make a slightly better pair of glasses than their default pair. I've barely even touched on using 3DSMax... and I reckon I could come up with a better mesh if I tried.

And what glasses? What? Where?

I love the glasses, and really they aren't much of a grind - I got enough points for r5 by just doing the quests I came across, exploring and clearing each asuran area. Great way to customise your characters appearance.

You can earn a lot more gold, and pick up a lot better items in the desolation area of Elona, but instead your grinding through a crappy-drop, broken lock-pick-for a purple-area, to earn enough plat and asuran hunt points, so you can put glasses on your favorite character. Glasses! How completly ridiculous is that? Kudos A-net for making a fool out of us.
Erm...

The glasses have the same stats of the headwear, so imagine it as a much more fashionable replacement for the helmet, at no extra cost.

Its not like it dous nothing and lets people grind their asses off for sompthing useless, it has a purpose.

Y'know I don't think the OP was really making a serious complaint. It is pretty amusing that a whole bunch of us are grinding away for something a lot of people in real life would consider 'dorky'.

I'm a specs wearer btw before I get flamed for that.
