Default Glasses? What the......

I was running around trying to earn some asuran points today so I could get a high enough level to spend 10k on glasses, and it occured to me, that was genuis! A-net decided to add fricken glasses to the game! People are out grinding their asses off so they can put a set of glasses on a 'toon. It is hillarious. You can earn a lot more gold, and pick up a lot better items in the desolation area of Elona, but instead your grinding through a crappy-drop, broken lock-pick-for a purple-area, to earn enough plat and asuran hunt points, so you can put glasses on your favorite character. Glasses! How completly ridiculous is that? Kudos A-net for making a fool out of us.

The glasses are there, if you want to work for them. If you think they are ridiculous ..... don't bother.

I was running around trying to earn some kurzick points today so I could get a high enough level to spend 15k on boots, and it occured to me, that was genuis! A-net decided to add fricken boots to the game! People are out grinding their asses off so they can put a set of boots on a 'toon. It is hillarious. You can earn a lot more gold, and pick up a lot better items in the desolation area of Elona, but instead your grinding through a crappy-drop, broken lock-pick-for a purple-area, to earn enough plat and kurzick faction points, so you can put boots on your favorite character. When I read anets previews saying there would be new and unique ways to customise your characters apearance I was happy...

....then I saw someone with glasses, checke the wiki and my heart sunk!

I have to agree that adding glasses really is the bottom of the pile in terms of stuff they could have done. We have re-hashed armors and yet they had the time to add glasses? Hmmm!!

It would have been ok if they had more choice ontop of glasses. Like maybe hair dye or facial hair and the rest! But just glasses by themselves is an anti-climax.

I would disagree with you..... but given how low-res the glasses are.... I can't really bring myself to. Those lenseless, pixellated pieces of crap seriously need to be re-worked.

What's wrong with wanting to look erudite (as an ele) or hawt (as a female monk )? It's just another skin, if you don't like it, then why bother?

Glasses == Good.
Low-Res Glasses =/= Good.

As someone with a little modding experience (I'm primarily a Texturer, to be honest) ... it wouldn't take a freakin degree in rocket science to make a slightly better pair of glasses than their default pair. I've barely even touched on using 3DSMax... and I reckon I could come up with a better mesh if I tried.

Then get TextMod and do-it-yourself.

My tinted spectacles are perfect as they are.

The glasses look amazing and I aimed directly to acquire a pair the moment I learned they existed. I, and evidently others, think they were a wonderful addition to the game.

Can't change meshes with that, can you?
I thought that only changed textures...

I mean I was planning on simply recolouring the shaded ones slightly (5-minute job) if A-Net don't make them dyable...

I <3 my ele's specs.

Plus it has the added bonus of not giving away what element I'm running when I go into an outpost. When she had her Canthan 'ring of fire' I'd get clicked on all the time as people assume you're running SF / MS nuking because of it.

As for points farming... meh, the Magus Stones area is hilariously easy to get the R5, all it took me was completing a couple of the primary quests + 4 runs round the MS zone. There's so many lvl 20 foes it's a breeze to keep the rampage bonus up.

Specs ftw !

Ok, I'll agree that the glasses look cool but I also agree that they could've done something about the crappy drops. I opened a chest yesterday that was surrounded by 5 wizards, 3 priests and another healer only to get a freaking purple. Sheesh.

glasses are worth all the stuff! i want them on my ele and monk wahey!
yeah it's pain with grind, but polymock + main asuran part gives you around 10k+ that makes 3,5 run (counting 4-5k/run) to get glasses. 3 hours if you ask me.

@SotiCoto - pwned! lawl ^^"

I'd agree on drops. I've had atrocious drops across the board except one - got a platinum longbow with perfect mods that dropped two minutes after leaving Gunnar's Hold.

The amount of times I've had lvl 28 bosses dropping crappy non max blues or nothing at all is enough to make you weep/

I'd expect them to only look good on the mesmers due to their sophisticated looks.
