Whoops, forgot that Proph was utter failure- look, no grind and only 2 more chapters and 2 expanions and a sequel coming in...
It's official, MMO's without grind don't sell
hehehehehehe....

Please remember...

I must not GRIND. GRIND is the mind-killer. GRIND is the little death that brings total obliteration. I will face my GRIND... I will permit it to pass over me and through me.

its just a suggestion but if you dont want grind, you should consider playing single player rpgs. there are some good ones out there with no grind whatsoever.
Grind exists in MMOs so they can keep you subscribed longer.

Since Guild Wars does not have a subscription fee, the grind doesn't serve as anything else besides bad tasting filler.

You're basically admitting now that it's just another clone of every other MMO out there. How is that a good thing? :/

When the only argument left is "if you don't like it, play another game"...it's a kinda bad sign. >.>

when guildwars first came out, it was basically a single player rpg disguised as an mmo.

once you beat the game that was it. nothing left to do just like all the other single player rgps. granted, you could play through the same content with a different toon but that could be considered "grind" as well. same goes for pvp endgame as youre playing the same builds over and over and over again to "grind" out rank.

once anet realised that a large chunk of their player base wasnt pvp-ing as a form of endgame content, they added sorrows furnace for the pve player base. continuously doing sf runs for greens or gold could also be considered "grind".

see what im getting at? grind has always been here. people are just a bit more vocal about it now because anet decided to give "grinders" a nominal advantage in pve. wowz, QQ me a river.

as for this game being just like any other mmo in the market, the no monthly fees aspect of the game and the relatively little "grind" involved in playing are what separates this game from other mmos.

An advantage that rewards C, spacebar. An award that takes no skill. An award for the unthinking mobs. Yeah, GW is definetly improving.

I see it more as a way to artificially lengthen a very short expension, than as a "reward". Which is cheesy, to say the least.

I understand some of the arguments, I really do. But the fact that they went against their own principal, and added grind to a game that used to boast about having no grind, is a huge letdown.

It doesn't lengthen, it stretches.

So does watching grass grow while you are playing it. Maybe they should have added a lot of intermissions.

Oh wait, that was the game, sorry.

Dunno if you with me or against me there, so I'll post:

When I think of something *lengthening* a game, I think of them adding on content like new dungeons, missions, playmodes, etc.

Stretching a game is pretty much the opposite of that, lengthening the game by making the little content it has take longer to achieve.

Then I am with you. They def took very little content and made it last longer then you can imagine.

Take note that I said "artificially" lengthening. But yeah, I guess "stretching" would have been a better choice to describe it.

so if someone has a life can't enjoy the game contents?
i thought guildwars was more about builds/skills.....not wastin time pressin c/space bar for days on end to enjoy what the game has to offer.
basically to be able to use the pve skills u have to say goodbye to life.

I get the feeling that ANet has this saying in their design area.

"It is by grind alone I set my mind in motion. It is by the grind that thoughts acquire speed, the fingers acquire stains, stains become a warning. It is by grind alone I set my mind in motion."

@lord dragon

I think its..

"I must not grind. Grind is the mind-killer. Grind is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my Grind. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when my Grind is gone I will turn and face the Grind's path, and only I will remain."

Dune quotes FTW

pve skills should max out at rank 5 or something....farmin beyond that should only be for title purposes.(title " hey i play gw 24/7 title")
i'm at rank 4 od the asuran title and i'm allready at quittin point....and i did all the quests available.
i will never see the pve skills in action if anet don't change things (at rank4 are not worth usin)
