Default How will high-end Hierophant items be affected by Monday's Duncan fix?

Clearly onyx has gotten a healthy (though perhaps temporary) price boost since Monday's bug fix of Slaver's Exile. I'm interested in hearing speculation on how 100k+ heirophant chest items will sell this weekend. Any observations on post-fix wts spamming of these items would also be appreciated.

Incidentally, I can't wait to cash in on my Mursaat polymock and Shield of the Hierophant

I'd imagine the prices on those items, along with the Deldrimor armor remnants are all going to go up now. No biggie really. People that insist on buying their way to certain things will still pay through the nose for them and the rest of us will just do the quest and get the items without paying.

It still confuses me why people insist on call the fix to an exploit a NERF though. There was no nerf involved at all. They just made the quest(s) work the way they were originally intended to is all.

For the record, with a dedicated build, the whole place takes 1 hour, all five bosses. So, the hitch is not that big. The place is not meant to be as hard as DoA and that's obvious.

It won't really go up by much. It will rise a little, but prices will never be super high. The damage is already done. Like with zodiac weapons and the hopping vampire suicide HM farming "glitch". Its aleady too late.

Oh it takes much less than 1 hour if your penis is at least 12" long.

In other words, sell now.

The price of items will go through a temporary spike, then fall again.

(FYI, I haven't bought the high end items, but I know even after the fix, Deldrimor Armor Remnants were selling from 6k - 8k each).

The huge price drop wasn't being driven by decent teams tearing through the content quickly. It came from weak pickup teams cracking the chest in about half an hour. I don't doubt a team practicing the area regularly can run through it fairly quickly, but that isn't a significant enough fraction of the population to make much of an economic dent.

I think it's important here that I actually point out that there was no showing off in that statement. The reason I mentioned that number is so that people recognize how players who are dedicated to farming the place do it. And I am actually not one of those players. I have finished Duncan about 7 times total.

However, in my attempts, by the 4th time, with a spiritbond build, we were able to clear the whole place in 1 hour and 10 minutes. I don't think that's the best time, I believe a more dedicated build that's even more fine tuned can do it even faster.

The significance of the number is not to showcase the length of my reproductive organ, though your generous estimate is much appreciated, the importance is that the players reading this thread who are not familiar with the place understand exactly how much "work" it is. That people who were exploiting the glitch in the quest were lazy and that the items are still easily farmable. The reason is basically consumer protection, not e-peening. Many players will make it sound like it's hard and long to raise the price of the items, I am just giving a candid estimate. Assume good fith or assume the worst. Up to you.

A lot of what everyone is saying so far makes a lot of sense. However, if possible, I'd prefer to hear more quantitative speculation and/or observations.

For example onyx has gone up around 50% from Sunday, but I have a hard imagining high-end items bouncing back so much. I'm thinking onyx dropped as much as it did because the chance of getting onyx from the chest is ~100% and clearly this is different for high-end items. I'd expect maybe a 0-10% increase since these are the sort of items that decrease in price over time. However, I'm far from an expert when it comes to high-end prices so that's why I'm especially interested in other's opinions.

Or maybe prices will revert to about where they were around to 9/12. The only reason I knew about the former condition of the Duncan dungeon was because I stumbled accross a link to this thread. So perhaps most people that were taking taxi's to Duncan discovered it in this way or through conversations with people who discovered it this way.

Yeah I should have said "bug fix" since that's how they labeled it on the game update page. The nerf term tends to come up when talking about farming methods that become less profitable with an update. But anyway, I "fixed" the terminology in my original post. The title still says nerf tho :/

Nope, just spiritbonding it + Frozen Soil + EoE and so forth. Like the foundry build people use to clear the foundry in HM.

The only real trick you need is to get Duncan down fast, otherwise you're going to sit there beating on him for 15 minutes. Otherwise it's just fairly typical PvE; the first couple levels take about 20 minutes each, maybe 15 on level 3; getting to Duncan takes less than 10 minutes, killing 2-3 with a good trick, and there you are clocking in at just over an hour. I've only done the dungeon with a heavy hero team, so my own times haven't come close to that, but I see no reason why a team of competent players with good bars couldn't beat each of those times easily.

The same reason people call the Nightfall dye update the "dye nerf", I imagine...
