Did this with my ranger, using a standard B/P build, my sis was playing with WoH monk, had olias as MM, talh running a ZB build, vekk as sf ele, Jora as axe war, another sf ele and i don't remember what was the last hero but we didnt have trouble fighting our way to gadd's.

When i did it with my monk i had problems at some point, from over aggroing. I still finished it with 60 DP, had to kill the undeads one at a time but i managed it.

I was using a standard WoH build, Dunk was ZB, Vekk as sf nuker, Xandra using a channeling build, henchies were herta, devona, eve and zho. Had i avoided over aggroing, i would probably have made it through with 0 or 15% dp.

1 player 7 henchmen NO heroes, No problem...

Dude you got to learn how NOT to agro 3 groups at a time is all... take them out 1 group at a time and its a easy walk to Gadds... Takes like 15 mins tops through the Shards of Orr. And no title is required at all to get through there, I don't even think I had a quest active for Asura the last time I did it I was just walking to all the map points first...

I walked there with only one hard battle near the other end of the dungeon, If I would have gotten in trouble I could have ran for the portal...

What type of response are we looking for here?

/agree's? Sympathies? If you don't want to hear suggestions, there isn't much left.

I don't agree that it should be easier. A mesmer should be able to handle the dual monks, though

I guess the only thing to say is that if one failed anything the first time, they should be aware of why they failed before setting off again. Over aggro? Enemies countered your teams builds? Etc. Only then can one work to overcome the problem. Elemental damage, conditions (blind!), and efficient healing are your foes during this trip. Three (two?) characters can efficiently counter these problems, or one (blind) can be completed avoided as a problem. But I won't explain each of these, as that's not what you want.

did it with my domination memser, didnt had too much troubles with the area:
gwen: as a second domination mesmer with powerspike, the rest of her b uild was same like mine
acolyte Jin: broadarrow head elite, d and savage shot.
tahlkora: zb with prot spirit
eve
mhenlo
devona
and i think cynn

two shatter enchantments helped keep in check the prot spirit of the monsters.

in most battles i had one or two deaths in my group, until i decided to prepot myself with prot spirit and tank the incoming shock+afterthingy spell

it is not hard to reach it, prioritize specific targets and you can do it without too much troubles.

I had a hard time getting through this, but I enjoyed the experience of getting my butt handed to me. Myself and my heroes were totally unprepared and had the wrong builds upon entering. I managed to fight most of the way through but ended up at -60 DP for the last two groups. So what I did was use my heroes as bait while I ran past all the baddies. It was very satisfying to finally make it through!

Since then I have been back with the correct team build and mopped up the entire dungeon without hardly a death (until I got to the boss.) More good times!

I think that it was a brilliant move by ANet to make the obvious travel path to Gadd's go through the Shards of Orr. Overall I think my play style and build knowledge has improved thanks to some of the areas in EotN, and I am very thankful for it. It is sad that in the other campaigns you can just breeze through area after area without hardly changing anything on your skill bar. It makes me never want to play through them again.

This dungeon is really hard solo, with h/h team.

It's almost trivial with 2 players.

It should be no major problem with 3 or more players.

Just make sure to spread your heroes and henchies around, and to bring fast corpse consumption skills (not MM) and condition removal.

Hmm...actually I think the mobs *are* easier if you don't have the master's quest active - not the ones as soon as you enter, they are the same, but there are many fewer groups near the entrance to Gadd's. In fact, without the master's quest active, there are very few groups that you actually have to fight the entire way through. I haven't counted exactly, but with careful pathing, you only *need* to fight around 3-4 groups, and of those groups, I think only one group had one undead priest. The other groups can be avoided entirely. Once you pass the res shrine in the center, I think you can get to Gadd's without fighting a single group (or maybe one? but not more than that).

As for fighting in Shards of Orr on the primary quest, my first character through was my ele (fire build with H/H), and not having done it before, I took the master's quest before I entered (not knowing what was inside). I made it through without a problem, didn't even think twice about it. AoE works nicely. With my war and rit, I had to abandon the master's quest to make it (it was difficult with it, and/or I was impatient and didn't care to fight the whole way through on repeat characters), so avoiding the mobs worked well as above.

Yeah, I had the same problem. I eventually cleared out to the second beacon, but already had 60% DP. The next group slaughtered me, so when I approache again, I flagged my H&H past them near a wall, waited for the aggro to take hold, then sprinted past them. Of course, I was the only one who survived, and I still took a few hits.

BTW, it took me about 3 or 4 attempts to knock out the first group with two healers. I would basically kill one, be killed by the rest of the mob, respawn, run back, kill another, be killed, respawn, run back, etc. until I KO'ed the group. That cleared the way to the waypoint.

Holy damage > undead.

It's one of the harder dungeons but not impossible.
I used BHA rangers and spell casters (which are not affected by blind that much) most of the time.

Think the default SF build would also work here, MS for KD and SF/fire damage for extra damage against undead.

I didn't have too hard of a time with it using my Domination Mesmer. I had with me; Tahlkora as prot monk, Olias as MM, Souske as fire nuker + Eve, Mhenlo, Herta, and Devona. If you're interested in the build I used, PM me in game.

You can run past the last group to the gate if you need to.

Yeap i ran through it with my Warrior and Ranger my Monk didn't have to much of problem with it and this is not the hardest dungeon mission/quests it is probably the easiest.

like others i avoided shards and went through the battle depths very easy,

however i have just done the dungeon quest, had difficult first time through changed build and got through it a hell of a lot easier.

this was with 2 people 7 heroes

used 2 ranger spear chukers, 2 ele meteor shower folk, two monks, one zb one prot. 1 mm, though probabl a mistake there.

My sel i was a mesmer, using the Sunspear and kurzick skills with arcane echo, clumsiness signet, and image of remorse, along with the ebon vanguard assassin support and two monk skills, Zelous benediction and ressurect.

I managed to keep myself alive this time usign ZB, and the sin helped to take out the priest or necro i was targeting.

Its a hard Dungeon but not too hard. However i would use the other route to get to Gadd's Encampment its far easier

Though I found it difficult overall, the last part next to the portal was relatively easy. I was in a group of 8 with no heroes. We all just ran like crazy and the mobs couldn't kill us all anywhere near quick enough. Just find a few other people who can't get through, avoid the mobs and run like hell when needed.

It may not exactly be something to be proud of, but it works.
