I don't wish to see all my hard work on my primary character seem less by adding in the accomplishments from all of my characters. Especially if there will be an inheritance system that will allow future generations of my primary character to access the tied to belongings in GW2. Perhaps you will be able to link accounts and characters together. Making the HoM completely account based destroys this. I want to enjoy playing "non retired" characters for years to come long after GW2 comes out........
Also, with the monument of honor, let ALL maxed titles be shown not just a footnote.........
Other than that, I completely agree with the rest.

Why people want to get titles all across X number of chars is beyond me...
Keep one char for title grinding and end with that.
If you really make a fuss about it then you've got
1. Too much time (there is a world outside, explore it)
2. The wrong idea about the game.

Just another case of Anet digging their heels in citing "vision". When said "vision" fails to deliver for more than 80% of your customers you're in trouble. Any good service provider adapt their service to the needs of their customers, it doesn't expect their customers to adapt to what they see in thier "vision".
Time to wake up and smell the coffee anet - this will cost you customers. Right now, I'm buyin GWEn because I'm alread "invested" in the GW1 franchise. If the HoM is kept character based, people like me who have their achievements spread over 10 characters have absolutely no pre-investment compelling them to buy GW2.

I'm pretty sure Gaile hasn't said that. I just read the latest chat log and that's definitely not in there.

The titles section is far more than I expected. Nice job A.net.

Well, I've seen (and followed) links to stuff on the official wiki that what we had (last week) was what James Phinney intended it to be, so the changes that have been made since are down to them listening to the community.
It looks like it's still character based, and that's fine for me as I was in favour of that anyway.
It's pretty much perfect now. Although a 30 foot high copy of me wigged me out a bit....
Thanks Arena.net !! Great job

Well I read the monument in the preview, and it certainly didn't allow you to add PVE titles that stuck statues on the monument. That has changed drastically.

I don't have GW:EN now, but when I do get it I'm going to ignore HoM for the most part.
-I don't want my minipets customized at all, much less to a specific character.
-I don't have any max titles becuse I never saw the point. I want to be able to display what few meager titles I do have though. Perhaps make it so that the baselines for the ones that you can make visible on your name, for instance 60% cartographers, could be made visible in HoM as well. To me it seems like this is a function reserved for a very, very select few in its current form.
-I don't have any endgame weapons to display, I prefer to make my own with my own skins. I wouldn't mind having a nicely rendered model of my Ele's staff, or my Dervishes scythe, or my Warrior's sword on display. Perhaps even put a mention of how many enemies it has killed, when it was made, various information that make the weapons seem a bit more epic. But still, I want MY weapon(s) on display. (Forgive me if I misunderstood and you can infact display your personal weapon, not only endgame ones)
All that's left would be armor display, so I guess my Dervish can show off her 15k Sunspear and Primevil.

um yea, which is why I originally said that while they may not have been in the preview that was no indication they would not be in the final, lots of stuff wasnt activated at the time. and since they made mention the entire time of there being pve I dont get why people are suprised that its there now.
People Like to complain before they play the retail version of the game
also seeing as we did not need to update to get new files you can see that the trophies for pve titles were already in the game

Yep, that post pretty much summarises the concerns of a large proportion of the GW community.

I had to update.
Like I said, there's a link here somewhere that refers to the HoM as we saw it in the preview being exactly as intended, as said by James Phinney (Designer?). I've been to the official wiki and I can't find the discussion myself, so I can't prove that. There's a link in one of the many complaint threads here somewhere.

Damn.
I still can't show my rank 4 Hero title. The only things I can display is finishing a campaign, which I find easier than getting r4. I hope they will change this soon...
I like how the armor monument displays my character wearing the armor set It looks cool.
I'll update once I get all the tapestry's. Happy gwening.

the update today was to small to be any game models, there have been no major file updates since the preview. it ways always intended to have pve skills as even said way beack in the first pc gamer mag with the asura.
like I SAID, people like to complain about things before they know what they are talking about.

So, for all the whining and gnashing of teeth this is what the HoM is actually going to be:
Quote:
Hall of Monuments
Players who travel to the Eye of the North now have access to a personalized Hall of Monuments that will contain the following five special monuments used to commemorate character accomplishments earned across all Guild Wars campaigns:
Honor — The Monument to Honor displays a character's title-related accomplishments and major PvE achievements, such as completing a campaign or elite mission. Character-based titles must be maximum rank to be displayed. The restrictions for account-based titles vary by title.
Resilience — The Monument to Resilience displays all Ascended armor sets acquired by a character. To display a new armor set, the character must have the coat, leggings, gloves, and boots for that set.
Valor — The Monument to Valor displays all Eye of the North end-game weapons acquired by a character. Displaying a weapon customizes it so that only that specific character may use that weapon.
Devotion — The Monument to Devotion can display any miniatures collected by a character. Displaying a miniature customizes it so that only that specific character may use that miniature.
Fellowship — The Monument to Fellowship displays a character's Heroes and animal companions. In order to register a Hero on this monument, that Hero must have at least one armor upgrade. In order to register an animal companion, the animal companion must be level 20.
|
I'll reverse final judgement until I see it but this looks near to perfect for me although I'd prefer if all endgame items would be displayed.
