Gaile had stated before the preview that the HoM would be accessible, but would not be working. I think that the ridiculously high reqs for the HoM is temporary and will be changed upon release. Think about NF when Razah was 50,000 balth faction to unlock for a while then they reduced it drastically. I really hope this is the case, since my boyfriend and I have many titles and such we would like to display, but cannot because of the high reqs.

Agreeing with my girlfriend here. We need to take into account the fact that what we've seen so far was an incomplete HoM. Still, should things be kept as they are then it would definitely be nice to see changes. I was surprised to see that when i put my warrior's 15k gladiators from grotto up it showed me a male ele and a female necro in grotto armour. We're going to wait and see what happens, and what the completed HoM is like and then have a rethink about things.

I'm thinking they forgot to add the PvE part.

I had great expectations for HoM, but the actual Hall was a huge let-down.

I have 10 chars (all but one at level 20, all PvE - imho PvP is not much fun). Most of these characters have elite armor and multiple PvE titles.

I would like to see:

1. My character's ACTUAL armor displayed in HoM. When I added my mesmer's 15K Grotto, it displayed little male and female Grotto mesmers. When I added my ritualist's 15K exotic, it displayed male rit and female assassin exotics, my dervish vabbian displayed male and female paragon vabbian. If I am going to grind my way to elite armor, why on earth would I not want to see MY character's armor on a mannequin of MY character's gender AND class? I don't care what elite exotic male rit armor looks like - I don't have MALE rit armor.

2. Customized minis? Are you serious? That is one design flaw Anet should REALLY have warned us about before hand. I only have one mini - I've sold off all the others. I have a mini Kuunie and I love him. I switch him back and forth between characters constantly. Whichever character I am playing, Kuunie comes along. For this reason, my little pet monument will remain forever empty as I am not spending the gold to buy a Kuunie for all ten characters on my account. I have better things to spend the money on: more 15K armor to be displayed incorrectly, perhaps.

3. I understand the title thing so far as the Kind of a Big deal title, but why shouldn't this be opened up to include ALL maxed titles? I have no maxed titles of any kind, but if I were to grind my butt off to get one - why not let me display it? What you are saying here is that someone who busts thier butt to get a maxed cartogropher title, a maxed skills title, or a Defender of Ascalon title is less worthy of displaying there titles than someone who spent a few days on Shing Jea Boardwalk to max out their drunkard, sweet tooth, lucky, unlucky and gamer titles? I personally think more recognition should go to those who earn thier titles playing the game and working toward it than to those who merely hop on for events that give out free booze.

4. Heroes should not need to have upgraded armor to be displayed. They are heroes. They are part of the Fellowship monument. Are you telling me that my heroes will only make for good fellowship if I upgrade thier armor? Standard armor, upgraded armor or no armor, they are still my character's fellowship regardless. Did Frodo have to buy fancy clothes before the rest of the fellowship regarded him as worthy? I think not.

5. Festival hats. Why not make a home for festival hats in HoM? These are things we all did our part to acquire. I have never understood why the hats are customized to the character instead of the account to begin with. Why not open them to account-wide customization and let us display them in the hall where we can take them in and out as we please? This is, of course, dependent on what I feel is the BIGGEST issue for HoM:

6. Per-character restriction. I think HoM should be my little shrine to myself and my own greatness (as it exists in my mind). I have 10 characters that I will have to grind through the never-ending primaries in GW:EN before I can complete thier Halls and even then, only one can use my mini, the armor doesn't display correctly, none of the heroes have upgraded armor, no one has a Kind of a Big Deal title and all my greens and rare skinned golds have been hoarded and collected for no reason whatsoever (being that I can't display them either). It should be opened to an account-wide monument to ALL that I - as a person - have achieved in the game. I have 10 different characters with 10 different professions and 10 different names, but they are ALL me.

Perhaps it IS narcissistic of me, but if I can't show a little self-love for my accomplishments in-game, why am I giving Anet my money?

Just my thoughts on the subject, take it for what you will.

Trade house: eh... not so much.

Also, which occured to me as an afterthought... instead of making HoM such a hassle to get to, why not give us each our own little narcissistic shrine to ourselves - our own account-based HoM - on the battle isles, in the vicinity of our guild hall? This would make for easier access, and could be accessed like the three other games via the little boat thing. Just a thought.

Honestly, my first impression when I went to HoM was "well, this isn't done yet..."

I can't imagine Anet not implementing many of the ideas expressed here. There's just way too much of the user community that's in agreement over these "issues".

I was quite upset about the random armor being shown instead of my own armor.

I believe that the changes stated in the FP are right on. It's quite simple that the changes need to be made, especially the titles. Come on, not everybody is a PvPer, this monument was just ridiculous. Also, just the fact that I beat the game does not show my accomplishment. It should show that I have the title proving my worth in gaining the protector of <insert realm here>. Mini's I'm not too worried about, but I think that people should be able to switch them out between characters when and if they want. This idea of "customizing" them to a particular character is junk. If they were meant to be customized to a particular character, then they should have come customized when you get them.

Not much else to say, but I totally agree.

I was completely disapointed in the titles catagory. Since I don't PvP ever, I felt overlooked. I think every title should count at least keep track of our progress. I have always been disapointed in the lack of recognition for doing the PvE part. All of the good fun stuff comes from PvP. The glowing wolves, borders on capes, fun showy things are never available to PvE. Guild Wars is still trying to force us to PvP and by the looks of the PvP areas un Factions they are failing. Try and get on a team to map some of those PvP areas, you can wait for hours.

As far as Mini Pets go I think it should be account based. But I realize they had to keep people from showing someone elsed mini in the hall and then returning it. Also they have stopped people from taking pets over and selling them for high prices where they cannot be gotten.

Look like possibly ArenaNet will be adding a necro NPC blocking the door to HoM, with a message like this: "You cannot enter here yet, we are reworking the place, get out! ... and return in 6 months, and YES, I am the same necro blocking you access to DoA for many months!"

Today is August 27th, the game releases on August 31st - the ENTIRE game... honestly, how many changes do you think they're gonna make in 4 days? Not a whole lot, I'd wager.

Especially when you consider they will have to have the game compiled, copied, packaged and distributed in that time as well.

Bring on the Flame.....

Reasons:

1. Using a characters benefits, like making a 55 just for the highest rank in the Survivor title track, from a single character that has absolutely no other use doesn't feel right. Why should they be rewarded for searching the forums, finding a class that could get r3 Survivor easiest and get that benefit in GW2 just as easily as you main character? It just doesn't make sense.

2. It encourages you to have separate goals and accomplishments on each character. Feel like eating and drinking lots on your Elementalist? Fine, and get that bonus from them. You shouldn't be able to smush all you achievements into a single hall.

3. You still get global titles into you hall so there is something account based. Using the account based method would be even more broken because every single one of your characters in GW2 could have all the benefits from the HoM. Instead of have the characters HoM match to a single character in GW2, it would just be an enormous benefit fest. So many characters would have special benefits and that wouldn't be fun for anyone.

I dont really think HoM really needs to be changed though, some things really make sense but I wouldn't make it account-based because then it wouldn't make sense in GW2 if it is the armor of our ancestors. In that case it would mean that a dervish originally from elona would be family from, for instance, an elementalist born in Ascalon. They need to have the same last name in that case and I don't think many people have the same last name of all their characters in GW.
But I think AreanaNet hasn't shown everything in the HoM and they are just learning what they need to post in it and what they need to keep out of the HoM.

1 more thing .. regarding the "fun NPCs" that were mentioned earlier , why not have an "identity agent" , where you can change your character name . if your name is inappropriate you can but what about those people who dislike their name and follow the guild wars code of conduct , they should be able to as well.

1. Account Based - /agree

I think it is entirely appropriate that a single GW2 character can inherit the accomplishments of a single GW1 character. What I would like to see is a way to display all my characters' accomplishments in one place. I would like to be able to see all the armor sets of my 10 characters in one place. I would like to see all my protector titles for my multiple characters that have achieved them in one place. It's fine with me if only one GW2 character can inherit all my title-hunting necro's accomplishments, but it would be nice to see those accomplishments no matter which GW1 character I happen to be playing at the moment.

2. Monument of Devotion
- /signed

I think it is a really terrible idea to customize mini-pets to a single character. As a player with 10 chars, most of which I play from time to time, I like to pass minis around among characters on my account. If the accomplishment of having the mini can only be credited to one character, that's fine with me. However, I'd still like my monk to be able to display a high-end mini after my necro's taken credit for it, for example. I understand why the minis must be customized to a certain extent; I would just rather they be customized to an account rather than a character.

3. The Monument of Honor - /SIGNED!

As it stands now, my Monument of Honor will be absolutely empty for all my characters, despite that fact that I have maxed PvE titles on several characters. It strikes me as poor execution to memorialize only PvP titles, since people who have high enough rank in PvP are likely PvP-only players who do not have access to the HoM anyhow! Again, if only certain titles at certain rank will count for GW2 bonuses, that's fine. However, it would be nice to be able to display any titles our characters have, whether they are at r1 or max rank.

4. The Monument of Valor
- /signed

It would be great to be able to display my collection of monk green weapons, or the variety of bow skins my ranger has accumulated, or the terrific green and gold staves my necro has used to great effect on the field of battle regardless their campaign of origin. Yet again, if only EotN skins count for GW2 bonuses, that's fine with me. I just would like to be able to display other weapons.

5. The Monument of Resilience /signed, signed, signed

My necro farmed extensively to have that spiffy Elite Kurzick armor, but I happened to like the Elite Canthan headgear better. As a result, I can't display any of it. Even if it's too complicated to give GW2 bonuses for mixed armor sets, at least let us display them. Also, if I get to display my necro's armor, then I want to see my necro's armor, not a ranger's armor or a mesmer's armor in the same armor family.

6. Accessibility to HoM - /agree, but I don't feel this is vital

It would be terribly convenient to have a button on the Hero panel to travel to HoM, much like the Guild Hall button on the Guild panel. I believe one of the "selling points" of the HoM presented by Anet was to invite our friends to visit our HoM. Rather than have us go through the hassle of grouping up somewhere, traveling to Eye of the North, and zoning into the HoM, it would be much easier to group up, then have the inviting player hit their HoM button and port everybody right into it.

7.Upgrades in HoM - /neutral

I don't think it's necessary to have merchants, Xunlai agents/chests, or other NPCs in the HoM. Most any NPC you'd need is right outside, after all. Also, I'm not sure how appropriate it is to have any NPCs (includng Ogden, Vekk, and Gwen) in what's supposed to be a Hall of Monuments However, I wouldn't object to, say, an optional hat rack for holding festival event hats, or an optional wardrobe for storing my various armor sets so they don't take up so much storage or inventory space. By all means, make these features a gold sink - I don't think they should necessarily be included in a basic HoM.

Final Thoughts

I know Anet's intention is to have specific, high-end accomplishments transfer to GW2 as bonuses. I think that's a great idea, whether I personally get any of those specific bonuses or not. As I understood it, the Hall of Monuments was supposed to be a way to thank loyal GW players for playing the original campaigns as the game transitions to GW2. It's meant to be a legacy we leave to our GW2 characters.

A legacy, however, does not have to be tangible. Even if we derive no specific benefit from our PvE accomplishments and the unique armor combos our GW1 characters wear, I still think it would be appropriate to memorialize them. I think the Hall of Monuments should stand as a tribute to everything we've done with all our GW characters, however humble or lofty our accomplishments might be. If non-max titles are shown as small stone monuments and maxed titles as big shiny statues, so much the better. There's still the incentive for players to work towards max titles to have the flashy monuments and special bonuses.

Another poster commented that the HoM shouldn't be a MyGWspace, but I think that would be an excellent idea. It gives the loyal GW playerbase a nifty feature to play around with both now and when GW2 comes out.

HOM as it currently is now is awful, in fact I'd go as far as saying that it's total crap. Does anyone here actually want to take a friend in there to show off their accomplishments as it currently stands? The answer is no, of course we don't.

That answer to that simple question should be all the incentive anet needs to change the HOM to something that we, the gamers want and deserve.

Change it guys.
