Default Uncovering GW2 through clues in Hall of Monuments

It dawned on me that there is a good probability that character profession in GW1 is not considered in the Hall of Monuments to an extent.

Specifically looking at Valor and Resilence.

Valor - Armor

1. When you walk in the hall the statues change color based on the chest piece color your wearing.
2. The title of the armor is not the correct profession specific title but a generic category that could fit any profession.

Possible conclusion,
In GW2 the statues will change as you walk in to your profession. For example if you unlocked Obsidian armor on an elementalist in GW1 in GW2 if you walk into the hall as a Warrior it will be a warrior Statue.

Valor - Weapons

1. There are 11 Weapon Stands
2. There are 11 Categories of weapons: Sword, Hammer, Axe, Spear, Daggers, Scythe, Bow, Shield, Staff, Focus, Wand
3. If you put a Fire Staff on display it will show a generic staff name.

Possible conclusion,
In GW1 you put a Paragon Requirement Shield on display but in GW2 under the same reserved name you make a Warrior. The warrior will have a warrior requirement shield.

Bottom Line.
Professions in Guild Wars 1 are not relevant in the Hall of Monuments for Guild Wars 2. Therefore pick the best name you like to focus on for unlocking the hall. This is only a guess derived from possible clues in the Hall. So please feel to reply with your opinions but at this point assume it to be false until verified by anet.

That may well be possible, and it's almost guaranteed that there won't be a 1-to-1 correspondence between GW1 and GW2 professions. For all that I know, ANet may completely abandon the concept of unchangeable primary profession. Since they have said that they want to scrap the current system of separate PvE and PvP characters, it means that they must implement things like scalable armor (something like hero armor of GW1). Also, since there will be several races, it would be a huge effort to design N different character models for each profession. There are maybe 100 different face models in GW1 and that is kind of understandable because they're all human and we are pretty good at telling one human face apart from the other but think of 100 different charr models, or asuran

Furthermore, several game design choices strongly favor having one primary character instead of many of equal importance. That may be an indicator that GW2 will push further in that direction. If you will be able to change your primary profession in GW2 like you can your secondary now in GW1 (of course you'll only have access to one primary attribute at a time) then there's little incentive to make several characters, and that will also solve the problem of 'unwanted' professions since everybody can fill any slot in a party if s/he has the proper skills and equipment. I can't think of any other scenario where filling the weapons rack in HoM would make any sense.

I hope each of teh different races has different apptitudes that give them strengths in specific ways. Kinda like how there is primary attributes now but slightly different as it would be along races as well. Would be hard as hell to balance though so i doubt we will see it.

Yes- Labyrinthe Armor = "Marhan Grotto Exclusive Armor", and same with my Necro's Armor... all lumped up into Marhan Armor.

Considering they will not have the same class setup in gw2, there is no way to reserve anything BUT your Name (and associated monuments) for the sequel.

How are you going to reserve your name?
Has it been confirmed that makign a character in GW will mean no one will be able to make a character of that name in GW2?

I doubt that they will be using the same servers (as if it isn't laggy enough! :P).
The way I imagine GW2 is a completley new game and HoM unlocking kind of useless but cool things.

This is answered at http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Hall_of_Monuments

Basically in it states (in reference to the hall) ..."This feature does not allow characters to be transferred between Guild Wars 1 and Guild Wars 2. However, it allows character names to be reserved and a character linked to a Guild Wars character will inherit some of the original character's accomplishments. "

Yer your new gw2 character inherits the name of their famous ancestor and the decaying remnants of old armour (ooh look they left me 27 tanned hide!) the rusted remains of old weaponry (ooh yay 13 iron ingots!) and the carcasses and skeletal remains of minipets (ooh ick!)
