Default Is there a posiible mesmer build that is capable of interuting shiros 2 main skills

Hi, i have a good question, everyone knows about taking a SS or Sv necro with them in the party against shiro and the lich in gate of madness, but is there a mesmer build that can stop shiro from using his 2 main skills that he useses to desimated parties?, cause if you can keep him dazed or interupted, he would be a piece of cake.

That would be counter productive to the rest of the build and team. So long as you dont attack Shiro but just weaken and slow him you can take out the Lich first and leave Shiro alone while you cap the shrines, at full health and not being attacked Shiro is a puddy tat. For mesmer builds, Empathy, ethereal burden and Degen work very well. Shiro's skills are not only monster only ones which means they are highly resistant to being diverted or blacked out but are also stances(although impossible odds has a 1/2 sec cast time) which work instantly. By far the easiest thing to do as a mesmer is let him attack while being weakend and slowed. By allowing his most damaging attacks to go through, you actually turn them against him.

Nah, unless you have the speed of a hero/hench interrupting him is kinda useless. Just use Ineptitude and clumsiness. Flag a tank at the door and pull him out. Keep riposte up on the tank (no really necessary but helpful), heal the tank and wait for Shiro to kill himself.

Perhaps Blackout?

Aegis, ward against melee, guardian for defense.
Self-damaging hexes for damage, empathy, spoil victor, spiteful spirit, insidious parasite.

Then let Shiro attack as much and as fast as it wants.

Shiro already *is* a piece of cake.

QFT. I don't understand what all the fuss about Gate of Madness being so hard to Master is about.

Blackout doesn't work on Shiro I think.
Easiest way to take him down is to bring one player with a Stance remover, and let the party spread out around Shiro. The stance remover has to be used on Shiro's Battle Scars to prevent him from stealing massive amounts of health.
Use Spoil Victor and Spiteful Spirit for massive damage (not necessary to bring these, it just speeds things up).
Don't put conditions on Shiro as he will spread them to your team with Impossible Odds.

Well blackout causes a blackout (duh) to skills, no matter if its a spell or not. It should work, unless stated otherwise.

True, a stance remover is a must. Also empathy, spoil victor and ofcourse spiteful spirit will have its use against him, he will drop in no time

"Skills which disable target foe's skills, such as Blackout, do not work on Shiro as monster skills cannot be disabled."

Quoted from http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Gate_of..._%28Mission%29

So no, you cannot blackout his skills, just like in Cantha.

Does someone actually have a hench / hero build that would be viable for Gates of Madness?

I've gotten through the entire game without thinking about what skills my heroes should be using, however just for this mission it seems that they need to be carrying specific skills. Well, for Shiro / Lich that is, the rest of the mission is really easy.

[skill]Mantra of Inscriptions[/skill][skill]Signet of Midnight[/skill][skill]Empathy[/skill]

There's a start. Oh, and tell your warrior to shut up when you blind him and they complain that he is spreading blind. Its not like their axe is doing anything to shiro in the first place. A good idea is to make sure your team has empathy, SS, price of failure, and spoil victor. With those four he will go down like a rock.

This is what I used as Warrior, works on both normal and hard mode.
Me with my standard melee build, but replaced resurrection with Wild blow.
1 Light of Deliverance Monk.
1 Hydromancer with Blurred Vision and a few spells to slow down enemies.=P
1 Spiteful Spirit or Spoil Victor Necromancer.
2 henchmen Monks.
Mesmer or Elementalist henchmen
Paragon henchmen

At Shiro, just use Wild Blow whenever he uses Battle Scars and you'll be fine.

If all else fails vs shiro, you can just do hit and run against him. Doesn't take too long and lets you solo him easy as long as you have some kind of spells/ranged damage.

Another funny way to kill him if you have a pug who can listen (So this will never apply, and I'm just talking for the sake of talking) is to get Shiro to shadow step past his 'Max aggro range' which is just outside the door. If you body block him then, he will keep trying to run back but never get past you. He will just stand there doing nothing and you can wand him to death. Literally doing nothing, not even attacking. This actually works with any mob in the game if you can get them to shadow step past this 'Max aggro range'

I used to run people through that area for exorbitant amounts using 2 monk and 1 necro hero, me as a ranger who just degened shiro to death. Back in the day it was 80-100k (20-25k each) in under an hour for a group of 4 people coming with me.

For a mesmer you can easily degen to death shiro I bet. I'm not even going to list the dozens of skills you can accomplish this with, I'm sure as a mesmer you can come up with a way

You went through entire mission without a prot monk?

Let me repeat:
Quote:
Aegis, ward against melee, guardian for defense.
Self-damaging hexes for damage, empathy, spoil victor, spiteful spirit, insidious parasite.
Also - the skills listed above work really good everywhere else as well.

Oh, the money I've made on this mission. Me as mesmer, and people paying 30-60k per run....

Yeah I did go through the entire mission without a protection monk >_>. Didn't know it mattered, I was having too much fun running around and pulling those stupid things from the portals to notice.

Anyway thanks, if I can't get my guildies to help, I'll definitely look up those skills.

easy way to beat him is to have your hench/heros form a semi-circle at the entrance of the building, make sure they are kinda of spread out. Aggro him and then stand in the middle of the semi-circle. When he gets to you, run in circles; he will chase after you without breaking off to attack anyone else in your group, while running in circles away from shiro, the rest of your group can wand or whatever him to death. Found this out by accident when I started getting frustrated and running around like a idiot.

This actually works; it's pretty much what I always do now, combined with SV and/or SS heroes. Also, shame on the poster who recommended a "tank" with Riposte. Bring a proper Warrior bar with damage, and Wild Blow. Let the monk heal you and prot with Aegis/Guardian. Don't mean to flame, but there is just no reason for a "tank" in this mission when you can kill things and be effective.

edit: On topic, no idea for the mesmer stuff. Don't play one. I don't think interrupts are viable.

Timing is also rather important, if he gets at low health he will use 'impossible odds', if you can stick IP and SS on him on that exact moment he's dead. Impossible odds causes SS to trigger a LOT.

If your a mesmer, just bring degen. Do NOT try interrupting Shiro, he'll own you almost every time. Also, what's so hard about luring just Shiro to the door, beating on him until he starts using IO, then running back and forth? If you just flag the henchies away, and flag someone like koss in the middle, shiro will target Koss until he dies. If and when he does, just let shiro run down the stairs, aggro him, and degen him until he dies.

I think what a lot of people do is get in the way of IO, if you don't something like Price of Failure can really, really take his health down. I haven't actually gone through the trouble of capturing the shrines yet, however I think it would be far more advantageous to kill shiro first and then just run away from the lich since he's slow ( and weak) as hell.

It's too bad Shiro is the only thing in the game (besides maybe Abaddon) that makes you think. The rest of the mission and previous missions are just run through and don't double aggro. And really in the end, the only thing that makes you think about Shrio is IO, which isn't effective at all if it doesn't hit you, and thank God he doesn't teleport while doing that or it may become ludicrous.

i went back to get protector of cantha on my mesmer, and my hexes wore off him super fast, so i ended up bringing ineptitude and clumsiness.
since people are recommending degen here, i guess the hexes stay on him for full duration?
