These are a good fun and diverse enough to offer interest of all play levels, they make a fine replacement for the "elite missions" found in other games.

Atmosphere
Quests were a lot of fun and riddled with humour and surprises. The environment is definitely one of the prettiest anet has provided us.

Enemies
Players have been crying out for multiclass enemies for some time now and they did a good job of bringing foes with good skillbars for us to kill.

Henchmen
We've finally got henchmen that are don't have skillbars chosen via a dartboard... If only we could take them back into other games.

Now for the bad bits:

The Hall of Monuments
A large part disappointment around the HoM can be attributed to the months of hype that anet drummed up about it. The truth is that what they delivered was a spectacular failure, right down to the basic design. How could they honestly not imagine that locking out players with multiple characters would be a good decision is beyond me.

Unfinished Product
There is the glaring omission of hardmode from what they gave us. If you're going to deliver something, make sure all the essential features are there. After defeating the other campaigns in HM, playing in NM reeks of ho hum.

Title Based Access to Content
In the other GW games, if you wanted to access elite armours you were able to choose how you obtained the required resources, whether by farming, running, trading or speculating. In GW:EN, these choices are taken away from you. To access weaponsmiths and crafters, you must farm for hours in order to obtain the requisite faction title before can craft your armour. Removing choice from players is never a good thing.

Overpowered Title Based Skills
Towards the end of Factions, they released the Sunspear and Kurzik luxon skills which introduced significant imbalances into the PvE environment and gave distinct gaming advantages to grinders over casual players. GW:EN took this concept and increased it tenfold. Now the PvE environment is rife with unbalanced skills wielded by grinding players forcing casual players to either start grinding themselves or play at a massive disadvantage. These skills sound the death knell for the original guiding principle of rewarding skill instead of time - the principle that made GW a unique game in the first place.

Overall Score 4/10. I'd say skip it, but unless you want to play at a disadvantage to the other players who are brining the overpowered PvE skills back into the other games, you don't really have a choice.

(By comparison: Prophesies 9/10; Factions 7/10; Nightfall 7/10)
I think the above author has summarized most of the points I would make. So I would just like to add to Hall of Monument and armor disappointments with GWEN as this is to be an area to bridge the current game over into GW2. Alot of comments are commenting on the grinding involved, but not just for skills, but to get GWEN armor - you can finish the entire campaign and not have enough "GWEN factions" to get armor (point 1.) Second, if you grind your way to the GWEN armor, many classes cannot display this OBVIOUSLY ELITE armor in the Hall of Monuments. Why - because mesmer armor has only 3 pieces and the GWEN "choas gloves", etc dont count as 4th piece? How more elite can you get than gloves that cost 75 ectos plus platinum? So where is reward and bridge into GW2 for the Hall of Monumnets and GWEN armor.

I will simply point out the cons of EoTN:

Hall of Monuments: My MOST biggest disappointment of all the Guild Wars Franchise! I dunno about you guys but I think many of us were expecting an account-based HoM. So many of us players who have been playing for over 2 years have 3-10+ lvl 20 characters that have titles and achievements spread across them. If HoM was account based, it would simply so many problems and you can see all your ACCOUNT achievements from all my 10 lvl 20 characters! I thought that is it would be flexible displaying titles that you may only have rank 1-3 in. I thought it would display any armor you are proud of cause lets face it, not all of us don't like some of the ascended armors and will never buy them. I also thought that you could display any gold or green weapon/item or hero you want you are proud of from ANY campaign... its a shame that only EoTN endgame weapons can be displayed; that is so skewed at a narrow selection... what about all the hard long work we've done to acquire all of our 50+ golds and greens from all campaigns? and we all know the mini pets get customized to your characters not your account... I thought HoM would be a account-universal-guildhall like LOCATION not a freakin explorable area...

The Grind for titles:what about if you want to get that awful looking armor that many say... I want the warrior male ebon vanguard armor. any of you who says the new armor is awful.. yes that can be true to a certain extent, but that doesn't support the fact that you have to grind and play hours upon hours to get it. that point of the armor being ugly is not the point.. Guild Wars is about skill, not about grinding... thats what Anet emphasized to us didn't they? titles at first were there to display for prestige.. and now and now it gets worse where you have to freakin grind so much to GAIN even more things. rediculous.

Reskins of monsters and items and SOME armor poorly done:Yes, we 've all said it, items, weapons, monsters, and most of the new armor is poorly skinned... no originality or time. I'm an artist and I could design some better stuff pertaining to all that.

Heroes and AI:
Ogden has to be teh sluggish healer piece of crap hero i have ever witnessed in Guild wars. He will even have a full bar of energy and he won't heal you til you're like 25% health and other times he wont keep up at all like dunkoro and talkora do! dunk and tahlk are simply superior! Also, AI of some monsters are somewaht overpowering such as the constant blinding-dungeon crawls... a melee class? prepared to be blinded constantly > useless.

PROS:

scenery, storylines, mini games, presentation and flow of campaigns and cutscenes are well done. characters are introduced well, pretty much everything else that can be thought of that's not mentioned in CONS are great and well done!

First off for comparement:

Prophecies: 7/10
Factions: 4/10
Nightfall: 8/10

Now to the Pro's

Heroes
10 very nice looking Heroes, which look absoluty better then certain ugly ones of NF, the GW:EN heroes have more Style and better personalities, NF heroes were mostly only good for sarcastic comments ...
Gwen looks in her Elite Armor simple super sweet and hot

[b]Lands and the Scenery/b]
Imo the best Sceneries of the whole game series, followed by certain sceneries of NF and FA, combined with best Soundtrack, that rises much the whole Game Flair ingame with dramaturgic music, when you fight and more peacefully music, when you don't.

Titles
Its a nice way to combine armors and such stuff with titles, then the players have something to do first, before they can simple buy all what they want with their farmed stuff and money, was imo a very nice solution to compensate the farm problem which would normally occur when you make an add on after 3 completely stand alones.

Pets
Some very nice, but mostly simple reskinned pets for the ranger, like white/black wolfs, ice bears, white moas ... the only totally new pet that is not reskinned is the mountain eagle, finally a pet that comes nearer to a falcon

Minigames
finally some little Minigames in the game, that are ever playable, and not only on events, but thats all, more later on that ...

Dungeons
18 nice dungeons on first sight, only jhave to say thats a nice new feature to GW....

PvE only Skills
some new skills, some are nice and useful

now to the Con's, before I explode cause of Tons of Cons (rhyme)*g*

The Hall of Monuments
The absolute most disappointing thing of GW:EN, too less monuments, the HoM could easily have like 10+ monuments more, the game series has so much content, that could be used for a monument and anet gives us only 5 and the the whole shit is character based, instead of account based, because we unlock everything for 1 account and will be later also only 1 account in GW2 ,which contains x characters, when i want to unlock something for GW2, i want to do this only once with my main chara, unless anet will confirm, that character based HoM will mean, that we unlock more or better stuff, so more characters of our account have a good filled HoM, because only then it would make sense to make with more than 1 character the HoM full.
however, certain stuff like minipets need to become account based for HoM, but in the its better to make the whole Hom account based, because collection all the needed stuff is then way much lesser time consuming.
TZhere exist yet enough threads, which tell, how bad made the HoM is, very nice concept, but very cheap executed, like someone said before me

Heroes & Henchs
Are for GW:En absolutely too weak, so often how you see daily in GW:EN cause of its massive unbalance full party wipes, so much fpw's haven't you got in any campaign before in such short time after over 2 years.
Heroes and henchs are still too dumb for little things like taking items from the ground and carrying them, why don't the still got more orders, which makes it easier/better to command heroes.
A simple "Grab the Item" order that exchanges with "Drop it" when they carry something and finish, this would change some difficulty for H/H players to normal instead of "unmakeable" because u need at least more than 1 human player to grab some items and carry them around simultanous, thats something u can#t do with H/H, because the a.i is simple stil too stupid for this, then Henchs/allies have still no stats button like heroes, where you can see per click, how much Hp/energy the hench has in the moment exactly and with what the henchs are hexed/buffed

Story
absolutely too short, too less primary quests, much to easy to kill great destroyer, but fighting masses of normal destroyers can gets very wuick absolutely unbalanced, like in the quest "nice new world" that is nearly unmakeable with H/H because the destroyers overwhelm you simple ... this quest could really need the asura npc that helps you with some golems so that you can defend the asurans without getting frustated by repeatedly fpw#s resuklting in whole -60%'s

Titles
racials titles must be grinded for r5+, because the game simple has not enough ways to give the players enough points by normal playing.
quests give too less points, hunt npcs give too less points.
high points you reach first, after u've killed like 75% of all monsters on big maps and that means like over 150 kills mostly ever and then max bonus points is limitated to 100 oO, bonus buffs are too low, lol 200 points for killing a boss > should be raised o 1000, 200 points for killing 10 mosnters with 150s, also be raised to 1000 points

for norn title, when you go into the arena and beat magni > 1000 points
or when you take on repeatable quest where you have to kill single lvl 35 bosses of huge monstrous legendary beasts > 1000 points, which appear only when doing those quests

especially ebons neead better points, lol, all those dumb quests give you only like 100-250 points towards the title ...
while dwarfs have 18 dungeons where you can easily collect points over time simple by killng mosnters and colecting bonus points from lights
playing polymock and making quests for asurans should also give more points, then 100 .... more primary quests should give points to the races and still give poitns ,when u repeat them ..., hmm but maybe we see some good changes with GW:En HM ...

then im missing a cartographer title for gw.en maps, maste of north is a joke and imo only a dungeon title that gives also some points for exploring, but that was it, i dunno, why anet simple makes not out of the tyrian title two by simple name changing

cartographer of North Tyria and Cartographer of South Tyria title ranks, old tyria is then south ....

Minigames
are not pvp playable, only very short contented pve stuff that gets quick boring, especially with polymock being totaly unbalanced, hardest near impossible fight is number 2, you slay of ur tooth with it, after that all polymock fights are more or less a joke.
norn arena is unbalanced, because it forces player to play with certain builds and certain 2nd classes, only to have a chance to beat magni, which does unbalanced damage > over 200-300 damage with 1 normal attack, when being a bear -.-.
dwaven boxing is too boring, had expect very much more of it, somethign thats looks more like real boxing in a boxing ring

Monsters
much are very unbalanced, especially cause of their monster only skills, which they use way too often and to quick so that they aren't interruptable or only very hard. dinosaurs mostly, 1 ceratodon is strong enough to wipe out your full H/H party within seconds -.-, that do also 3 tyrannos or 5 raptors with their too quick interrupting attacks and their behavior to kill multiple times after another first the monks so that the team becomes quick helpless once the rest has used up all their signets of ressurection and they move all ,as if they would know, where you want to go, and try to cut off your way or they gank you up then very quick together with other monster groups

Armors
yes, reskins ftw -.- god, i really miss the elite versions of those 40 new armors, most stuff of those are ugly and absolutely not worth to be called high end, hope HM will be worth and that there exist then ways to create the 40 elite versions of the racial armors, which could then only be made with maxed titles, then we would have real high end armours that reach more the valuability of obsidians .... im also mission somehow for nightfall a new kind of obsidian armor > tormented armors or chaos armors ... which could be new real high end armors, we also have no chaos gloves oO why not complete it as for the other gloves too making more traders which will want certain stuff for 250 that trade then in the other armor pieces ....

for example one piece for 250 diamonds, one for 250 onyx, one for 250 saphires, one for 250 rubys and so on ...., due to that the gloves still cost 75 ectos, so also one for 250 ectos ....

PvP
absolute no new pvp content -.-
very cheap

Individuality
Nothing new for more player individuality, like new hairstyles, new faces, no friseur/ plastic chirurgy so that players can finally change against some money their lookings, when u have enough of something after some years, no one runs around ever with the same hair style -.-
or more cape styles, and background styles, instead ever only to put in new cape emblems -.-, give is a size bar, so that we also can enlarge our capes to long royal looking capes, that can reach to the ground ....

Unfinished Stuff
When you release an add on, players should can expect from the developers, that the add on is then in all things complete and not that the players must then find out while playing, that things like titles and others are unfinished/unmaxable ect ... -.- that shows me personaly only , how unprofessional Anet works ... and is really not good for the whole image of this company in fact of developing rpg like games ..., I as player must ask me then, when Anet/NcSoft however works so unprofessional, if it wouldn't be better, when they would exchange the genre of games they produce to maybe racing games or tabletop games -.- where its alot easier not to work so unprofessional ...

general con

Minipet Events

make all minipets finally getable for all countries, god, can't you fools understand, that it is frustrating, regardlesse of where you play and live, when you have to read :

minipet x is for y ONLY and minipets Z are for xy only ...

THAT SUCKS

make all pets for all, or none new minipets anymore and when you make such events, like now asian pets for europe (finally), than give everyone that buy such a magazine a randomous asian pet, not only stupid 1000 pieces and like 199000 other peoples which also bought the magazine will look then into the pipe, because they got then only maybe a 2nd mini asura or even maybe nothing because the system maybe won't accept the 2nd asura code -.- thus resulting then in wasting more then 5€ for nothing of interest ...
God i really ask me sometimes, if you developers think only for 2 cents sometimes on what the whole community desires and not only certain parts of it and the rest gets nothing.
Where is the god damn problem to make such event magazine minipets and those advertise minipets/weapons ect, like thsoe from coca cola as birthday presets for all -.- ? huh, it this so hard to make ? or even too hard ?

it can't be, that we europeans for example have to buy ever from asians or whatever those minipets for like 100p and x thousand ectos only to get those minipets, thats the god damn reason, why you will ever have the problem with ebay gold sellers and china 24/7 farmers -.- which destroy the games economy or with farm bots, that you have to ban then, because Gw freaks try every way, if legal or not, total regardless only for having a chance to get enough stuff they needs to get on the wished minipets... so why do you make urself more work then needed, when you can easily make all minipets avaiable for every country, who cares about when they lose valuability, it can only be good ,when such minipets don't cost anymore 100p + x thousand ectos -.-
its enough when they simple cost only fix 100p but are getable for everybody.
maybe implement a minipet seller npc, that sells those minipets at fixed prices ..., when not making them birthday presets for all

to my rating of GW:EN:

due to al those heavy cons, i can give GW:EN only a 2/10 compared to the 3 campaigns, because none of the pros does anyhw compensate any con ...

GWEN: 5 / 10 -- it's good at first but replay-ability feels like grind. I got all 15 of my chars through all 3 other campaigns and it was fun, didn't feel like work. Only on my 2nd char through GWEN...already feels like GRIND, like I'm working for very little reward.

It's funny, at first I totally agreed with that nzgamer review (http://www.nzgamer.com/hub-pc-reviews-526) but now I quite dislike GWEN. Areas are too much of a chore to get through (ridiculous mobs) and I'm finding hard to derive enjoyment from the game.

I think Nightfall was the series' peak.

I can't say some of it better than others here. My extra 2 cents.

With all the required stuff to hold why not more in game storage? No new storage tab and no new way to hold stuff in game - how about a book bag or something?

Why not a pet storage? Maybe even charge a fee to check a pet back out?

Why cannot GREEN weapons be displayed - at least one!

I don't like the grind in most of the game. The grind here is finally fun. I love some of the hidden jokes - I mean bunnies - killer bunnies basically. Only could have been funnier if they actually were fanged bunnies.

I am somewhere between casual and heavy player. I play a bit every week. Sometimes 10+ hours a week. I have at least 9 lvl 20's and several I am still progressing or using as primarily mules. I have all three campaigns and GW:EN. I like GWEN it is beautiful with great music. Unlike some here I am amused by the side games and find it fun. I have only just begun on Polymock however, so, can see the frustration there.

I have to agree that some of the brawling is annoying but I was amused by fighting a 55 monk - I h8t that build and wow how boring can you get?

Overall, I like Prophecies and Nightfall best of the campaigns. I would rate GWEN right up there probably even with Nightfall.

NOTE: I have not finished GWEN with any character yet, but am having fun. That is the point right?

BTW - the heroes have the best armor which makes me sad as I like some of their armor. However, I like some of the armor for the various classes also - especially Asuran

For the PvP part their are just new skills but the usage of thouse skills are not changing the balance. Most of them are just remakes of older skills (Like the Faction skills). A-Net implemented new maps for HA (finally). But for Hero battles we need more maps. just 4 are to less.

PvE: Titel Based skills. LoL. The good part of GW is that the gamemechanic isnt based arround ur lvl. If u reach lvl 20 u can rearranche ur skillbar and attributes as u like. But if i have to max my titel to get my skillevel higher i would rather play wow then GW.

GW was initally build up for PvP players. The basic designs were made for PvP-players. After playing GWEN. It just looks like that GW2 will be designde for PvE.

Most other Pro and cons were already written by other posters.

http://www.cad-media.com/mediaitem.php?mid=478&c=pc A brilliant review so far. Only read first two pages and I've so far agreed with it all.

The site is originally a site by Tim Buckley and comics such as those, but there are reviews by other game reviewers on the site, too.

Pros:

-Dungeons are fun the first few times through.
-PvE powers are an interesting novelty.
-Scenery and atmosphere
-Made the best of an old technology, for it's age it still looks good.
-Cool heroes.
-Interesting intro to GW2 races.
-Nice feel and specific atmosphere to the each of the different quest paths.

Cons:

-Grind.People comparing other games grind as a means of justifying the grind in GWEN as manageable is moot.I don't play other MMO's specifically for that reason, I play Guild Wars because it's not based on grind...or at least was'nt.
-Little to no PvP content after promising on the NF collector edition DVD that the next installment would be PvP focused.I'm more of a PvE fan but to totally ignore such a large portion of the player base is insulting.Guild...Wars.....
-Title relevance directly relating to character and skill power.
-Harder to find PuG's, far more hero/henching.Lately I feel like I've been playing Dungeon Siege as opposed to an MMO.
-Uninspired armor and then rubbing salt in the wound by giving heroes better armor.
-Pathing.....horrid.
-Lack of actual skill increase.Merely making mobs higher level with consistently spammed conditions and hexes gets real old real fast.
-Build specifics making parts of the game vastly easier.
-Lack of variation in special armor pieces.Towns are now filled with glasses wearing, glowie handed characters like some sort of meeting for the librarians that survived Chernobyl.
-Repetition in place of actual new content.

Basically I liked parts of this game but more than anything it has made me very fearful of the direction GW2 will take and it saddens me that what started out as such an original and enjoyable MMO has slowly implemented more and more facets from the hundred of other MMO's that it used to be so good at separating itself from.

6/10

Default Chaos Vs. Destroyer Gloves

It seems like ever since I farmed my 250 cores for my destroyer gloves, all people have said is that Chaos gloves are cooler because of that aura and glow they have...IMHO, I think they need to add something special to the Destroyer gloves to make them stand out more. For how much work we need to put into getting them, there's nothing amazingly special about them as compared to Chaos. I would like to see some kind of flame aura or something to do with fire to add to the gloves to give them at least as much appeal as Chaos

Um... except that Chaos Gloves (and, indeed, the Chaos Axe) blow nuts and have no appeal; there's absolutely no reason for people to be ZOMG GAGA over them. FFS people, they're just flares. It's the worst skin in the game, hands down.

But seriously though, I'm pretty content with GWEN and I feel I can enjoy its content to a reasonable degree. I like what they've done with the PvE skills, as they let me perform a myriad of tasks that would ordinarily be impractical at best for a PvE monk. My only real complaint with GWEN (surprise, surprise) is the frequency of armor reskins. I still think monument looks pretty sharp (even though its an obvious reskin of Judges Armor), but I was really hoping for something new and I really only got that from Norn armor.

Still, I'm willing to take the licks if this means that GW2 will be that much better. I love ANet's lack of monthly fees, and I'm glad they've been able to sustain GW without them. I really don't think very many people here have done a good job of crediting them for this; for all the bitching they do you'd think they ponied up their firstborn to log into this game to begin with.

I did enjoy playing gw:en, but after completing the game i didn't really feel there was anything worth going back for.

I liked the Norn story arc, asura was ok, charr was far too short imo, and great destoyer was a pushover.

GWP 8/10
GWF 5/10
GNNF 8/10
GWEN 2/10

I dont like how they took the strategy out the game.To many times you pull a group and next thing you know groups not even in your circle come charge in.I not talking aggro circle either.I know some are set up for run patterns but even after seeing there patterns and planning for it.They break that pattern and charge right into your group. All the mobs get boring also.
Also the heroes go on coffee breaks to often. The game just isnt fun.It was a waste of my money.I liked GWP and GWNF.Also upgrade armor for every hero?I have 10 chrs..I dont enjoy GWEN enough to play it that much.

Overall, I would give GW:EN 8/10. If you don't like the repitition, or the whatever, reskins, fine, hate them as you might, I like GW:EN pretty much. I give 8 because I just don't like the grinds. Fine fine, have your PvE skills, but the ol' Dragonslasher still does the trick :P Anyhow, I have about r7 delver right now, so I'm gonna farm until R10, doing some dungeons in between to rip the boredom and then wonder what to do next >_>

I totally agree. I'm a total fasion victim in the game and love my armours on my warrior. I especially like making my own combos and look totally different to other warriors. So far (and I've looked on wiki) I havn't found one peice i can work into a combo. Dreadful reskins.

They should replace the existing elite char hide armour with the norn armour from gwen, and redesign norn armour. In fact they should redesign the lot.

I am a big fan of the proffesion wide armour pieces. good job anet.

Honest Scores of Each Game:

Proph: 10/10
Factions: 8/10
Nightfall: 8/10
GW:EN: (Based on price and amount of content and what was promised and mainly my personal choice): 10/10

Pros:
-Dungeons are classic RPG greatness
-PvE only skills make the game more intresting
-More stunning scenery
-Improved battles (Dont know why but the fights in GWEN seem much more classic, factions fighting Am Fah over and over was dull, GWEN gives variation)
-Developed story (crap ending but its all good)
-Good new weapon skins with alot of variation
-Overall feel of the game is varied, different scenery throughout, different dimensions of fighting ect.
-I could probably list more but that is the summary of it.

Cons:
-Armor re-skins (Like I honestly care.....)
-HoM not as developed as I would have hoped (Room for change, not what I bought the game for)
-GRIND (The main downfall, I play the game as I go along getting points in books ect, so grind for me is really fun gameplay so it has little affect for me personnaly)
-End game greens sucked (So did every other campaign plus if I wanted greens I'd buy the expensive ones but I dont, stats wise there good enough).

Summary:
GWEN was new perfect unless you bought the game for armor or didnt expect any grind (LB and SS titles.....was a hint). What I wanted was further expansion into the classic GW and RPG gameplay, the story gave me classic GW gameplay and dungeons put life back into the game, 18 multi leveled areas of funness in two difficulty settings.... good enough for me.

10/10.
