Do GWEN drops suck?
So I started the five hour introduction to GWEN last night. Played for 1.5 hours with 3 heroes and four henchies.
My initial reaction is that I am appalled at the low number of drops and the low quality of drops. After 1.5 hours of play, I ended up with one lockpick, two sparklers, and eight other drops, all chalk. When I identified them to sell to the merchant, one was worth 68g, the rest were less.
I really liked the fact that I could keep track of how many foes I was killing. I killed over 200 foes in 1.5 hours. But then I got to thinking... I got 11 total drops in 1.5 hours killing over 200 foes. That is nowhere near 1/8 of the drops. It is less than 1/16.
I suppose some of the drops could have been gold, but when all was merchanted, I ended up with just over 600g. I guess that means I got about 400g from selling loot to the merchant, and 200g from coin drops. For 1.5 hours of play, killing over 200 foes, that's pathetic.
Is this what GWEN is like?
The only thing that may be a factor is that two of my heroes were MMs, with each able to have 9 minions. So although I was in a H/H team of 8, I was running around with 18 minions as well. Are minons factored into lootscaling in GWEN?
Anyway, I was not impressed. If they want me to play GWEN, they're going to have to drastically increase either the drop rate of loot, or the quality of the drops.

It's exactly the same drop rate as every single campaign. You're unlucky or confused.

1. Drops in GW suck.
2. GW:EN is part of GW.
3. Drops in GW:EN suck.
QED.
Now here's the real question of merit: who the RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO is surprised? As an aside, I really love people who play the game for l33t l00tz. Get over yourself, Anet doesn't give a flying RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO about whether you'll play GW:EN or not (as your money is already in their pocket), and neither do the rest of us.

Drops have been treating me fine :/
Went out and Vanquished the area outside Olafsted, and then did the Raven's Point dungeon (took me a little while) but by the end of it all i had a nice 11.5k after the merchant.

Not completely true. Proph, Nightfall, and gwen all appear to be the same drops wise. However my canthan drops have always been rediculously good for no apparent reason. Others ive talked to in game, who have all 3 campaigns have said the same thing. Gold armors especialy seem to drop much higher in cantha.
But thats besides the point on this guys question. Yes gwen drops DO suck, just like most of the rest of game.

To all of you: Go play in HM - the chances of gold drops and better drops are much much higher. You need to beat a chapter first to activate HM.

There's much more to gwen than the first couple areas, a big part of which are dungeons at the end of which you are guaranteed a decent - good item. And hm farming is making many golds drop in price cause they are so common there.

For the amount of effort in GWEN, the drops suck. Stick to the other campains in HM is you want to make anything. GWEN is for the eye candy scenery. Not much substance, but pretty to look at.

The problem is that the white drops in GW:EN are not even mostly max stuff.
a) You cannot go to GW:EN until you are level 20 (with the exception of the new event buff)
b) All the Heroes you get in GW:EN are level 20 and have max stats items (with half-stat mods).
Look at Prophesies, the drops get progressively higher in stats, as you get to tougher zones. GW:EN is supposed to be tougher than all of that. So why are equipment barely worthy of level 10s still dropping?
Who can we give it to, besides the merchant? Noone on earth wants those things, give it to a low level guy in Ascalon City and they'll heap insults on us.
Its fine to drop whites, but at least be nearly max or max stat whites please.
Save us some time and inventory space, if its not nearly max white stuff, give it to us in gold. And also, implement an auto-pickup for gold while you're at it.

LOL. Not to nitpick, but dungeon drops have been fairly horrible for me (bar one or two good items). My very first drop from a dungeon chest was a req 13 plainskin storm artefact with no mods and a "measure for measure" inscription. I don't think I've ever seen a gold item drop for me in a GWEN mission (3 hero's handbooks completed - 2 in hard mode). Solo farming seems to be the only remotely reliable way to get good-ish drops in GWEN. I'm not too worried personally though, as I play for fun, not money.

Yes the drops suck, as they have from the beginning of GWEN. I have one other comment though, Anet could have also warned us NOT to spend our money on skills etc in the introduction weekend because after your 5 hours all heros acquired and skills are locked until you spend the 40 bucks for the game. Now that's dipping into the real bank account and truely unfair. The only thing I got to keep out of the 5 hours was a bison cup. I spent plenty on skills and that is all lost to me now, as well as all those frickin primary quests are stuck on my log and cannot be abandon. Truely a rude move ANET!

They're bad, and the devs obviously expect you to use the lockpick chests all over the place. Thing is that's only good for chest running and takes a large investment, they should not have made it the game's drops.
