Hi Dougal, I'm sincerely hoping you can help. Well, I thought I had a good understanding of photo programs, and for my life, I can't even resize my map to the right proportions. I use Photo Impact, and the only option it gives me after I resize the height, is to expand the canvas..... which I actually need to shrink, ugh.
I'm not even sure you can work with this image, but I sure hope so. I'm at 96.7 I think. Thanks in advance!!

Don't resize your screenshots. Change your game resolution to 1280x1024 or 1024x768 (preferred).
Ensure your in fullscreen mode and not windowed mode.

Hello. I joined this site for the sole purpose of addressing this topic of mapping here on this great site which for some time now I have been merely a lurker.
My second but primary character is a 14 month old, Tyrian PvE Monk. While I am a long-time “guild of one,” having mostly soloed the entire game, I have enjoyed most of the hundreds of PUGs I joined all across GW. As it turns out, my Monk is a top shelf character, if I do say so myself.
Being a solo player, and having done just about everything in GW with hench, I have to say I can write a book on how a monk can manage and succeed with hench. But more to the point, however, as a solo player I did not at first realize the importance of accomplishing things outside the story line….I didn’t get the memo, so to speak, that other things can also be accomplished. Thus, when I completed all the Tyrian missions and most of the bonuses, I had no reason to be motivated in playing, other than to just help other players and accumulate unnecessary wealth.
Then I got the chance to hop on a boat to Cantha. Cool beans!! Shortly after setting off to see what that was all about, I started to notice everyone having titles. Ooooo! So, I looked up mine and noticed that I had finished Tyria with something over 80% of the map completed, and thus I had earned a title. Who knew?!? Anyway, since I had just started the Cantha journey, I decided to “map as I go” and thereby get 100% of this new foreign map about the same time I completed all the missions.
In this manner, my humble Tyrian healer with a title of “Tyrian Trailblazer” got “Canthan Grandmaster Cartographer (100%)” and “Protector of Cantha” (or some such). I thought getting 100% in Cantha was easy in this manner, by the way….very little extra effort. Then again, I am much more experienced now then when I was first "earning" my way around Tyria (don't even get me started on runners and leveling).
But was I satisfied? No. Something bothered me about not completing Tyria. So, I went back. And it is back in Tyria that I have been stuck for the past month or so. Hence, this post!
Here is the deal…..I have now completed as much of the Tyrian map as I am currently able to do (98.8%). Since I did not do the PvP thing, or the Guild Hall thing, much of the earlier real estate, like arenas and guild islands, etc., are no longer available for me to uncover. And it seems the new arena islands do not count….I went and got them all uncovered in any event. I have compared my U Map to many of the 100% maps posted here and elsewhere, and I now only find areas that I have uncovered that they have not. In other words, I am starting to believe that if a character did not hit those key arenas and islands early on, then they have no chance to get 100% in Tyria. Based on some of what I have read here on this forum, many of you disagree!! Please explain.
As it stands, I have a little over 1% left to go, with only one little piece (maybe .1%) at the end of Hell’s Precipice to uncover. I’ll get to it, but it is hard to be motivated to do so knowing that 100% may not be possible.
What is the conventional wisdom on this issue around here? Can 100% be achieved in Tyria without the old arenas and old guild island? According to my map, no. I admit, I did not read this entire LONG thread, only parts of it, so I apologize if this has already been addressed.
As a side note: I think we ought to be able to display two titles at once until achieving “Kind of a Big Deal.” I mean, how cool would that be for the double cartographers or double protectors out there, or whatever double thing turns you on, to be able to show their Deity status in such a way!?!?
Anyway, a little insight or assist on the Tyrian mapping issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

As someone who has GM Cart in Tyria - without the arenas. You can get it!
What you may see as only a little bit left at Hell's, after an analysis - you will see more areas (specifically edges) that you need to uncover.
The standard areas are:
Hell's Precipice
Thunderhead Keep
Frozen Forest
Dunes of Despair
Sanctum Cay
Tangle Root
Bloodstone Fen
D'Alessio Seaboard
Gates of Kryta
Deldrimor Bowl
Anvil Rock
Frost Gate
Borliss Pass
Dragon's Gullet
Some of the main areas I've had to label on nearly every map I've analyzed.

Can anyone tell me how to get to the northern part in Borliss pass? I see some fog there on my map, but can't reach it.

run south wall of iron mines, also as soon as you enter borlis mission try turning away from the main path to the north i think that may help out a little bit if the fog is only in that one section. If it runs across basically the entire north wall you definitely do it from iron mines. Wall hug both to be sure though :]

Drirr, don't take the screenshot in wondowed mode - you game needs to be in one of the two resolutions: 1024x768 or 1280x1024, and in full screen mode.
