Default The Great Norn Alemoot

Somehow I don't think this quest is compatible with certain professions. I can't do it on my Monk at all - I've tried Mo/W with "Charge!" and Mo/R with Storm Chaser, Tactics and Wilderness Survival at 12 respectively - and at best I get 58 seconds to attempt to round up unresponsive pigs, or the pigs respond but quest doesn't update. Ally said to take nothing but run skills, but I don't get anything beyond additional speed - and I still run out of time. I get the impression after countless tries that the quest is somehow bugged or not working as intended because no matter what I try, my Monk cannot complete it. Any suggestions, or ideas if the quest is in fact bugged?

Agreed. Totally doable without run skills. Can be aggravating sometimes, though, and may need to be attempted more than once, but doable.

Ok simple way to do it is, turn off post process effects in your graphics options. That way, when you get drunk, your screen does not go fuzzy and you are able to see what you are doing.

You dont need speed boosts but with them, when you get to the pigs, if you have done everything right, you should have more than a minute to round them up. Just run up to them and they flee in the opposite direction. With a little placement, you should easily have three pigs in there before the timer runs down.

You just need to perfect timing i.e. drink from kegs, put kegs near the flag, run back and drink from kegs, run around the slalom (pass on the side of the hand as close as possible), go back and drink from kegs, round up the pigs.

Alternatively, you could round them up before you start the quest but that does take quite a while to do as you have to stand directly in front of them for them to respond.

Have they fixed the bug/exploit/only-way-I-ever-managed-to-beat-it?

I just took the quest but didn't speak to the guy when I zoned in - I thought I'd do the tricky part first and herd all the piggies. Took ages as they weren't actively herdable, but as soon as the last one went in, BAM! - quest complete; no drinking, no drunken slalom

I dunno what the big deal is. That quest was really easy. I use a ranger, but I never used any skills at all on that quest. Just run through it, take the shortest path (straight line), and don't spend any time farting around. The hardest part is rounding up the pigs, but it only took me two tries to beat the quest.

Oh, and I recommend not turning off the drunken effects. If you do that, then what fun would the quest be? I laughed myself silly during the whole quest. GW could use more quests like this one.

I did this with my little monk, with no speed buffs. It took me a couple of tries but pulled it off. Turning off post process effects helped a lot in the end

i don't think they nerfed it yet, or fixed for that matter (slalom regristration is so damn bugged)

and bringing a pet might work out for bodyblocking the pigs into the little house ^^

Well I just packed a load of running skills and away I went. Only annoying bit was the pigs as they spawn points and movement can be slightly random.

I did this quest yesterday. Don't talk to anyone when you get there, round up 3 pigs to the pen and presto finished quest. no run skills needed no turning of post process effects. just round up the pigs and get your reward.

This quest pissed me off because the pigs don't move, but I was lucky one and 2 pigs spawned inside the pen leaving me with only one to put in. It is doable though, but it'd be very tricky without speed boosts.

Yep, all the piecs are doable by all professions. The luck involved on the pigs is the biggest and most annoying factor in this quest. You have to have a lucky spawn if you don't have speed boosts. Even if you do, lucky pig spawn is important. Stupid quest.

This is massively easy. Its just like the old prophecies quest. The pigs move in the opposite direction of you in a straight line. So if its aimed straight into the pen just get behind the pig and click on it and it will run forward. If the pig is to the side, get behind the pig so the pig is in a line between you and the entrance to the pen. Click on the pig and the pig heads in the direction of the pen. This is easy to do even without speed boosts, but they definately help. As well, if you get lucky the pigs can wander in on their own.

But the damn pigs do not herd for nothing and with the piss poor servers now you get lag spikes and the pigs walk right through you. It is like their AI does not register you in front of them and they continue to just keep walking forward.

Like Polymock I believe this was done without any consideration of lag. I think Anet testers must test this stuff on a lan thus are completely oblivious of what affects lag can have one their game.
