Default Talus Chute Vanq'n- Unkillable Group?

Usually, we(guildies) do research/test runs before vanq'n a zone, so I came across this on the Wiki under 'Additional Notes':

Does anyone know more about this? I REALLY don't want to waste time vanq'n 400+ enemies only to come across the most epic of fails. I know they come up the east river, but can you cut 'em off by starting in Rankor then heading east? Thanks in advance for the help- this is driving me nuts...

I had the same concern, so I came to Talus via Ice Dome and cleared that side first. IMO it was the only way to be sure. Good luck.

Your concerns were well-grounded...
... I just did a little scouting to verify the bug. My h/h party and I attempted to battle our way from 'Ice Caves of Sorrow' to 'Icedome' portal. We kept a decent pace, but didn't foolishly rush. (actually, the path I followed won't allow too much speed period... mostly because of the mobs located on the icy areas) Staying as far east as possible and heading north following the river, it took us approx. 15 minutes to reach a group that once aggroed, seemed to trigger the 'group in question' to start walking towards the portal. Alas, they did in fact disappear before we could reach 'em. I checked my time again and it was approx. 19 minutes when they poofed!

(adamon28 is spot on... wisest to enter from Icedome, but I just recently vanquished Frozen Forest and Icedome so I'm not really interested in repeating that path)

Talus Chute is my last zone to attain legendary vanq... I'm determined to finish today... gonna try to improve timing a little on this run and hopefully I'll have good news to report.

This is a valid concern. I have had it occur and had to re-vanquish the area. I started from Camp Rankor and vanquished to icedome portal then came down the river, so if you do trigger spawn they have to go through you to disappear. Best of luck.

Upon further review...

Once again, they walked off into Icedome and ruined my chances for vanquish. Virtually impossible to do from Icecaves so here is my new plan of attack. Fight that last group and zone out to Icedome... work off the DP and re-enter... that should do it!

Great idea and good work figuring some things out. Also, I'm glad to see that we aren't the only ones this affects... 8)

But that begs the question- why worry about nerfing Ursan while there's facets of the game that are broken and clearly need attention? Just a thought...

Because Ursan was bad and was making the game horrible. End of.

I left from Droknar's Forge to vanquish Talus Chute, and of the multiple screw-ups I had, none of them were because that mob had escaped through the portal. If you don't suck, you'll be able to power through the Ice Imps and Frost Golems fast enough to start at the bottom of the river and go up.

A friend of mine had the same problem , he also started from Icedome and manged to get it done.
But I did the same vanquish with some guildies a while ago and nothing happend , and we didnt rush to that portal , we just started from Droks and did all the way normal. so I assume you can take your chances;p

I love when a plan comes together! Just got my Legendary Vanquisher title!!!!!!

The main thing to remember is "DON'T PANIC"

Regardless of your starting point, head directly to the Icedome portal. If your party fails to 'beat the bug'... just zone out to Icedome and re-zone back into Talus Chute. Sacrificing 15-20 minutes and 50-60 kills didn't seem unreasonable to guarantee success in the end.

Wholly crap!

I spent forever rerunning the map - I did come across a mob of avicara early on, but then nothing for about 30 minutes. Finally, researching I believe I got the imp group exit bug... However, I went to the Ice Flow exit, and as I was about to rezone I got the Vanq title (without killing anything)...

We started from Ice Caves of Sorrow and, although I read about the bug, I never noticed a group leaving or on their way to leave the area. We didn't rush north either, but I didn't take our time to reach the north exit.
Therefore I can conclude that you can start from Ice caves with no problem.

I've vanquished talus chute twice and never ran into this problem, also starting from Ice Caves both times if I remember correctly.

Could anyone tell me if this entry on wiki is correct or not? "Sometimes there is a group of imps and golems that will walk off the north west exit if they are not killed fast enough. They walk up the far east river. If not killed they will prevent you from vanquishing the area."

I did my own scouting, and found that a group of Stone Summit & Golems walks off the North East exit. So far I have not seen anything come off the river and head west.

Getting kind of annoyed.. I've -almost- vanquished this 5 times now, and I'm assuming I keep missing this group, even though I have been starting from Ice Dome the last few times.

Actually I thought that I missed this group as well but after 30 min of pointless running around it appeared that on the west corner of the map there was a group of giants with an extreme patrol range (I could swear I was there twice before finally encountering them). I think that may add up to the story here.

Ah, maybe that's it. Each time I spent around 45 minutes searching the map for the last few.. Maybe next time I'll spend more time on the left side.

The exact same thing happened to me today when vanquishing this area. I had killed around 400 enemies and the bar was almost filled, and since I had read this thread I refused to give up, so i checked for giant -and aviacra-patrolls for about an hour before going desperate, reading your post and going close to the Icedome portal....... and what happens?

I see a group of Stone Summit in the Icedome area!! I look at them for a second or two, then they dissapear and I get the vanquisher credit.

Unbelievable... But still I believe I owe you for that, thanks

Anyone who searches for the last mob of monsters, try this, worked for me, never had any problems with ice imps/siege golems.

I too got screwed by this bug a few months ago after killing absolutely everything in the zone. Haven't been back to re-do it since.

Has anyone found a foolproof way to prevent this bug from fubaring that vanquish?

@The guy who said it's a hoax: no it's not. And sweeping the map won't do jack all to get your vanq completed if this bug happened during the vanq. If the bug happens, you are SOL. End of story.
