Default Hello!

Hello all, pretty new to the game, and I just had a quick question. Is Factions a good game to start me out down the roads of Guild Wars? If not, which one should I get?

Thanks a bunch!

It kinda has a big learning curve compared to the others...i would suggest the prophecies+eye of the north package, or nightfall.

prophecies is quite an easy to game to get started, you don't level really fast and the enemies you fight will you around your level ( which is why you don't get much experience, and thus level slower ) but i don't really like gwrophecies. I started with GW:Nightfall and i immediatly got heroes and stuff, heroes are really nice to play with on your first character, after that it gets boring. so i'd recommend to start either with guild wars nightfall or the bonus pack of prophecies + Eotn, but that's your choice.

hope this helps

Heroes are only good if you know how to use them (that is, have enough knowledge of the game in order to use the heroes efficiently) and have a bunch of skills already unlocked. Nightfall is a fine campaign, but I would leave that for later. I agree with infamous and suggest you start out in prophesies. Factions, imo, is a bit too fast-paced for a completely new player.

Factions is a good learning area, up until you hit the mainland where alot of enemies can kill you if your not prepared.
if I were you I'd start in Nightfall, the noob island is fairly easy and you get heroes early on, which I bet you will be using a lot.

Hi, Metal Head Bard - welcome to the throng.

Rather than start a new thread about this, take a look at Which chapter should I buy?

In a nutshell: Prophecies for storyline and a huge game, factions for a quick game with some useful skills (contentious, I know ) and Niightfall for the glory that is Heroes.
