Default [Pre-searing] - Northlands Charr

Hello,

With a friend we start playing GW last week. We followed this useful guide ( http://www.guildwarsguru.com/content...lon-id1264.php ) and now we have reached the level 6 (I'm a W/N and him is a M/E). We have done several quests etc. and we tried yesterday the Northlands Charr and they owned us

I've seen some videos about how to defeat patrols but we don't succeed to attract only one or two charrs. We try to smite but the whole patrol comes and destroy us ! There's a guide somewhere ?

I've attached my character skills /attributes sheet.

Thanks for the help !

Matthieu

Re-balance your Att's, There is also a crafter in ascalon city that'll give you a half decent sword for killing charr but it requires some materials which you can buy off other players or just salvage other items to get them, put as much as it requires to get the max damage out of it (Req) then pump the rest into tactics and strength and watch when you use frenzy you take double damage in that stance, I usually wait till I'm Lvl 7 before I go to the northlands, you may just need a more experienced player to show you the ropes aswell.

Unless you are going for Legendary Defender of Ascalon (and with your first character that would be a bad idea since it is very long and boring) I would suggest just skipping the northland.

level 6 is plenty high enough to continue the game and leave pre-searing.

Just complete all the quests you can find, get your secondary and talk to Armin Saberlin to get the quest "The Path to Glory"

You will leave presearing and jump ahead 7 years in time and that is when the game really begins.

after you have played for a while then you can make a second character and go get those charr at your leisure.

If you really insist on killing charr on your present character, however go to www.presearing.com and check the guides section. There are several guides on killing charr. (don't bother with the deathleveling guides at this point. they are only for very high levels).

Thanks for your answer. What do you mean by "re-balance", I've too swordmanship ?

I've bought a sword (10-14) from the crafter in Ascalon but maybe I need to improve it with the other crafter in Ascalont ?

If you aren't planning on giving it to another player, customizing it (costs 10 gold, gives +20% damage) is always a good idea. Yes, that is what the other weaponsmith does.

Personally, I find that it is pretty easy at level 10 (after completing all quests except for "The Path to Glory"), me and my friend both being elementalists. We usually take on groups of 4.

By the way: Can your friend heal?

What I mean is there is no point in having points in anything necromancer at this point the skill pool is too small and your lowering efficiency putting points into anythin thats not purely warrior.

Level 6 is pretty low that that part of the game, try to get to lat least evel 8. Char hunting can be fun. You can still get xp points by killing some of the level 3 enemies like hulking stone elementals and the ice elementals, with the added bonus of drops from them. Now those drops (Icy lodestones and enchanted lodestones) are actually worth something. Take them to the Traveler in pre and exchange for gifts on the days he is looking for those items.(if you aren't all ready doing that) I made 50k by bringing a toon over from pre to post with all my pre-sear gifts.

Thanks all for your help/advices. I can confirm : at lvl 8 it is a LOT easier. I re-balance my skills and with the help of a monk to heal, we can get the patrols more easily.

We've played only a session but it was fun. We've quit the pre-searing area to go to the real deal see u there !

You won't be able to pull single charr away from their groups, they'll always come in packs.

http://www.presearing.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=129&Item id=47

This guide is for mesmers, but the pulling tactics are pretty much cross-platform. This is what you need to be doing.

The trick is to use the terrain. Normally ducking behind walls or hiding on top of hills will protect you from the archers/casters while you'll be able to take out the melees.

Now, you said your friend was a M/E, did you mean Me/E(mesmer) or Mo/E? If you're friend's a mesmer than you're pretty much screwed, you can't take charr as a warrior without either having a monk secondary, or having a monk available to heal you. Your friend will be happy to know that he can pretty much solo the charr w/o you though.
