I feel like I've run a marathon
I think I have the equivalent of a gaming hangover.
I recently got back in to Guild Wars after a year or so hiatus. A combination of the new Steam release and the 5th birthday brought me back.
I've been gradually easing my way back in over the past few weeks, learning about Nicholas and Zaishen bounties / missions. I also started vanquishing a little, finding a hero team build that would get me through. Oh, and shouting about boats a lot in LA.
Then yesterday, I went hell for leather. I started out vanquishing a trio of Kournan mainland zones, Marga Coast, Arkjok Ward and Jahai Bluffs.
But I then realised it would probably be best to get the hard stuff out of the way first, so I went with the most daunting prospect, Joko's Domain.
It took some time, but I got it done.
But by then, I had been bitten by the bug.
I hopped along to The Ruptured Heart, and this is where I went a bit doolally.
Upon completing it, I noticed that Crystal Overlook was neighbouring, so I popped my head in there and vanquished that. And hey, as I was in Crystal Overlook, I may as well pop my head into the Crystal Desert, right?
Smack on 11PM last night, I had vanquished Ruptured Heart, Crystal overlook and the entire Crystal Desert, all without an outpost break.
12 regions vanquished in one day, 9 of those without an outpost break.
And just as I was merching all the crap I'd gathered, some random person messages me saying they needed help clearing Aurora Glade in normal mode, and could I help them?
It took 20 minutes, and I could have done it in my sleep by that point.
I think I'm enjoying GW again

Lol, go outside and jog a mile and i bet it would feel like running a marathon ;-)
anyways, nice glad to see that you are enjoying guildwars so much after having come back after being away so long
Once, me and guildies did a marathon vanquish all the way from ToA down into 4 man ascalon with no outpost breaks so that we could keep an 8-man team all the way through. like 18 zones and 10 hours later, we were going a little crazy, but managed to finish i'll dig out the final screenshot when i get home ;-)

You sure you didn't mean "Nutter"?
It's interesting coming back and seeing all the neat little things ANet have added in my absence. It makes repeating content a lot more tolerable. And I LOVE that people are finally playing Jade Quarry. In PvE I play my warrior pretty much exclusively, but I can't get enough of messing with people's heads as a mesmer in PvP

You vanquished all of that without needing to merchant?

Oh I needed a merchant. The amount of crap I left behind was slightly depressing, but I kept all the gold, purple and blue drops apart from one, and salvaged a shedload of other stuff before running out of kits.
I even ended up selling stuff to the materials traders I would occasionally find dotted around.
But I don't mind that much. I've already got the equipment I need, and the simple act of vanquishing itself seems to be giving me some cash to play with
A friend has said he'll give me a bunch of merchant summoning stones next time he & I are in the same place

Refreshing to see someone has the same drive as Myself and a guildie of mine. By the way that is awesome that you did the sulfurous wastes AND crsytal desert. That IMO is a fun VQ.
My streak (along with my buddy) was from TOA ran to Griffins mouth and proceeded to VQ all of the northern shiverpeaks and ascalon.
GOOD luck in your VQ'ing. If you need a partner or two message me IG

Oh god yeah, me and my buddy did some vanquishing before I took a break for a while, and we did all of the Southern Shiverpeaks as well as a run through to Ascalon. Boy, am I glad I already have those out of the way! I never want to vanquish Ice Dome again!

I don't get how people can find this fun. The gameplay of GW is so stale after the years of power creeps and gimmicks, and the whole grind that is the game is not appealing nor rewarding...

Because after coming back from breaks, you forget about all the shit the community complains about, and you just play for fun.
Congrats man, because of your post, you make me want to vanq. Sadly, I get 1/2 through vanqs and quit but w/e :P

I know what you mean, I came back from a 2 year break about 2 weeks ago and i've Vanquished all of Elona and almost all of Cantha since them. I'm looking forward to starting on Tyria as I can get stuck in to the War in Kryta content i've heard so much about recently.
It's nice to hear there are others coming back and still finding the game fun.

Nice bro. I've VQ'd Elona & Cantha, but only like 6 areas or something in Tyria. Add me on 'X Everlong X' if you wanna do some of Tyria together some time :]

I've only got Kryta and the Maguuma to go in Tyria now, and I've done a fair bit of Kryta. Last night I did North Kryta Province, Nebo Terrace and Cursed Lands, which only took a couple of hours.
It's also fun running in to the WiK content as I go, although I've not been actively doing that stuff. I should really kick it off properly so I stand a chance of getting some goodies as I go.
A good friend was also kind enough to gift me a butt-load of Mercantile Summoning Stones. I'm surprised ol' Merchant can fight so well!
I'm hoping to be done with Tyria by the end of the week, at which point I'll move on to Factions. I've done a fair amount of Elona already, including the hard stuff, so that'll be a nice way to finish off.
Really enjoying it though. I'm not a fan of the grinding titles like Drunkard or Sweet Tooth, but Vanquisher is a really cool one. I think after I've got Vanquisher, I'll finish off Guardian, as I've only completely done the Guardian of Tyria title.
I just wish they'd introduced Vanquisher when I was doing my Cartographer titles :E

I finished off Tyria this weekend made a start on Factions.
I've done the entire city so far and started on the starter island, but stopped last night after a couple as I was beginning to feel burned out. Well I had vanquished 20 areas over the weekend.
Factions does seem a lot easier so far, and it's more generous with the drops too
Those bloody Jade Brotherhood Knights kept taking me by surprise mind you, as did their mages with Dragon Stomp and Double Dragon.
