Default Questions about the cartographer title.

Ive recently started to work on some titles to farm some money and clear the titles one by one as well. So I started out in Nightfall and have vanquished it successfully and although I did try to scrape all the walls I missing a huge 5% .

That said I checked out the threads like the Elona Cartographer Tour Guide thread and noticed some tools being used like TexMod. However what I understand is that it requires you to have a resolution of 1024x768 . I'm using a resolution of 1440 x 900 at the moment. Would this method still work ?

Also I noticed screen captures of the whole Elona Map using the U-map . Would appreciate if anyone told me how the U-Map can be captures like that. At the moment I'm maximizing the U-map and taking screen shots.

I'm pretty sure I'm doing this epically wrong so would appreciate any help anyone can offer.

As I haven't bothered with the cartography title(s) yet, the information I can give you is rather limitted, but here goes:

First of, I don't know much about TexMod, all I can do is link you to the page about it on the Guild Wars wiki.
(another poster may be able to answer your questions about it, though)

I can't tell you where you might get the remaining 5%, but I suspect the Remains of Sahlahja challenge is a place you (most likely) missed.

That's all the help I'm able to give you, good luck getting that last 5%.

I dont really know what you mean by this but im guessing you just want to see the whole map without all the dots from mission outposts etc. If this is what you want you can just press 'm' (the default key to bring up the map) and then press ctrl + shift + H its a shortcut to disable your Heads up Display and will remove all the dots from outposts on the map too.

There are different versions of the carthography mods in texmod if you are using one which needs overlay in photoshop etc then yes you'r resolution has to be 1024x768. But there is also a mod called carthography made easy which doesn't require you to change you'r resolution as I did it with 1600x900 resolution. At the moment I dont know where to download carthography made easy probaly somewhere on the wiki ill try to find it for you.

EDIT: Found the carthography made easy mod. http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Guide...aphy_Made_Easy

Note: I am not responsible in anyway if this program causes problems @ you'r pc / gw account. I just sended you the link where you can download it from the official wiki and using it is at you'r own risk.

Nightfall has some tricky areas one of them is the remains mission. The others that stand out are at the beginning of consulate docks instead of going left go right to the end of the docks. That can generate a few tenths of a point. Also in the Bastion mission in Vabbi you can bypass the mission objectives and run to one of the exits on the far end of the zone that is goof for some more points. Then also on Chebek village mission you need a teleport skill to teleport on to the boats you are supposed to blow up with the oil. Also, have you gone into the lower level arenas? All the points add up so really no area is too small.

I suggest read the Cartpgraphy thread to make sure you covered this obscure areas. I did it without texmod just by following the guide and wall hugging.

The 5% could be the pre-searing area / tutorial areas that your character first started in - i seem to remember some people saying that to get all of it map you had to map pre-searing as well. for the record, no - you cant go back to presearing once youve left it. sorry.

He's talking about Nightfall, not Prophecies. There is no pre-searing. Also, cartographer doesn't count pre-searing areas.

Texmod can be used at any resolution but there are some carthography mods which require you to use 1024 x 768 resolution because otherwise the maps wont match @ photshop or w/e program you use.

The Tutorial area isn't 5% and not needed to complete ur carthography title otherwise alot of people wouldn't be able to get it because basicly evry1 skips the tutorial when they've done it once.

Like said before the Remains of Sahlaje (or w/e) challenge mission can give you quite some exploration points if you haven't done it before.

With 5% missing, it sounds like you skipped an entire zone somewhere. I've got to agree that it's most likely Salahja. As far as the resolution question, that's only if using the photoshop map comparisons. The texmod maps will work with any resolution. Good luck in your search for the missing areas!

When doing the Pogahn Passage mission, turn right at some point to scrape all of the fortress. I don't recall if Nightfall cutscenes are important to follow through on or not. Some take your char to places you haven't been, but not if you skip

I remember something about Poghan final cutscene, like you have to move when on the boat...ok, found it:

Yup. This one got me more near to or a bit more than 2%.

Thanks for the link . I have it installed and now I see what a horrible job I did at scraping the borders of the map .

Thanks everyone for the loads of tips. At the moment Im at 98% . I must admit though the Remains Challenge mission was a bit of a pain to scrape. My third try netted me an armor piece and the second highest daily score too. Although it wasn't anything to be really proud about .

And so finally I did the title right . Thanks to all you folks for your input. I have no idea what I would have done to find the last .1% without the above help .
.

Went and capped quite a few skills also in the process so now I can delete my PVP Mesmer and play my actual character in Fort Aspenwood and Jade Quarry now .

Oh and I'm so not looking forward to do cartographer for Tyria D: .

Tyria will be much easier than Elona. There is more leeway. Good scraping from the beginning will get you 100% before you get into the last mission. Even sooner if your toon is old enough to have been in the old Tyrian arenas. Plus, if you finish the War in Kryta stuff, you can access the three new explorables with no enemies, making mapping those areas a breeze.

Cantha is the troublesome one, since you'll need to work your way through the challenge missions and PvP areas to get Grandmaster.
