the point of the quest is that it brings old memories, from where parties were formed in LA and TOA for the quest,it took ages to do it,and it was a huge success completing it
it wasn't accidentally published on the 6th anniversary,it's a gift to old players who are still loyal to gw,so we can reminisce on the days long gone...

John Sturmme?sp? mentions in the interview on Massively that they chose this one because internally, this is quest #1 in the GW list of quests.

My necro breezed through this 7H (and no frozen soil), but I can imagine that it could be quite difficult for classes lacking in strong AoE.

The biggest challenge for me was the fact that it's an uphill pull of a bunch of tightly packed mobs. Add to that the fact that the healers from unaggroed groups will run across the map to heal, bringing their group with them, and you're looking at a nearly unavoidable overaggro. I never managed to get one group alone until I was down to just Galrath's and the one way off on the side. Fortunately, they clump really nice, so blowing up 3 or 4 groups at once with AoE is quite doable.

Galrath himself was a kitten in the face of weakness and block, but that's true of every melee monster. Making him level 100 wouldn't have helped him any.

yeah, the main issue for this was overaggro..even trying to bodypull would bring other groups down the hill. Huge social aggro bubble.

Just did it; I had a bit of a hard time with it (didn't wipe at any point though). Probably partly because I forgot to swap one of my Mesmers from an Illusion build to Panic, I'm sure. I had Frozen Soil along but I quickly gave up on it, casting it was just a waste of time and energy.

The biggest issue was the fact that the mobs were so fast to aggro, and I personally noticed some odd behaviour with that. If, for example, I attacked an assassin or monk bandit, everything on the hill came running, even if the others were well out of aggro range and hadn't even been in the same mob. If I went after a mesmer or necromancer, though, no one else would come running. I was making sure to flag my heroes way back and there weren't even any minions nearby, so it couldn't have been that. It was very odd.

Galrath himself I hardly noticed, I killed him on accident while attacking a monk standing next to him.

I did definitely take advantage of the fact that the bandits and cultists fight each other; I lured a group of bandits off the hill into a group of cultists to kill the cultists and take out some of the bandits. Watching mobs kill each other always amuses me, and if it makes my life easier, I'll certainly take advantage of it.

This. I remember getting a group for this quest about 5 years ago and being the lowest level person there. It took a looong time because we fought our way to ToA, and from then through the Black Curtain to Kessex Peak. The peak itself has probably the highest concentration of enemies in prophecies. At the time, it was quite a feat!

Heh.. my first try at this was as a noob fresh to LA from playing through from Ascalon.

I saw the exp reward and went OMG I has to do this. I blundered blindly around Kryta for hours.. never did find TOA or was even aware I could get more hench there. Finally found him.. and spent an hour there finishing it with my group of 6 mighty LA hench and shiney new LA armor.

I never took the quest again on any of my other characters. This quest was good payback and a nice reminder of my early game.

Bandits where a pain, until we re-rolled with Frozen Soil ( first time i wasnt expecting so many bandits ) they all just run in a straight line, front liners and usually 3 or 4 monks at the back, as for Galrath himself i figured at level 40 he would be hard, but he uses 100 Blades LOL, so when he had 30 minions around him + Pi on him he exploded.

It will be interesting to see what the next quest is.
