I did this mission with a great group last night. We had

Ele hero nuker
Ranger with interpt and winter
ss
2 wars
2 monks
and 2nd ranger-cant remember what he was.

Make sure one of the warriors bring glads, soldiers defense, and watch yourself with high tactics. Pull lich and shiro to entrance and kill lich 1st. Then have tank with glads fight and 1 monk engage shiro and keep his aggro, while everyone else gets the shrines. Make sure to kneel at the shrines!! When all shrines are taken, kill shiro. Make sure to have winter and spinal shivers up. He was Easy!

I (as a paragon) did it with 3 PCs took 4-5 times (cuz we were tired)
but got some pointers that might be of use

1. Stop before entering the room (before triggering AI) mass as a ball
and run in to Melandru's Shrine Asap Shiro and Lich will talk and
not attack you for a bit

2.Fight at the end of the Shrine rooms this breaks aggro of the Lich and Shiro
(Sometimes this might not happen if you're lucky both bosses will split for you to
solo one at a time)

3.A nice Combo due to tons of Paragons is
-Burning Refrain
-They're on Fire !!
- Watch yourself (to renew Burning Refrain)
with a sin or a warrior it really helps with degen and damage reduction at first
until he reaches below 600-550 hp where Burning Refrain will stop triggering

-Anthem of Flame and Blazing Finale will comes in this point
but the conditions dealt to the bosses are pretty short compared to
Burning refrain's Perma Burn

good luck i think wiki posted some pointers on this quest though
it didn't really work for me

After doing this mission many many times and failing, I decided to register here and complain. Only because GuildWars.com suggested that I do so for suggestions on how to make the game better.

If I could find a good necro maybe this mission would be a tad easier, but everyone knows that getting good groups is luck of the draw! I mean that's why the hero's were introduced.

After hours and hours, day after day of trying to beat this mission my will to play is just simply drained to nothing...It is no longer fun and I dread having to go through all this crap again only to fail.

THIS MISSION NEEDS NURFED!

Not much mind you, just enough to at least give us a chance in 3 to 4 tries. I would expect the end boss to be harder, so what do I have to look forward to besides a super long mission and days and days of failure? I hate long missions, long missions are for those who have no life and hours to just give to the game. I know you few who have beat the game say Shiro is the hardest boss but COME ON!

Now that, that is over I feal.....well not much better.

Just did it with heroes and henches. I had:
1) Koss. With "Watch yourself!" and a bunch of attack skills.
2) Master of Whispers. Not sure what he did ;P Barbs is nice.
3) Dunkoro. Glimmer of Light, Sig of Rejuvenation, Dismiss Condition, Holy Veil, Power Drain, Leech Signet.
For henches, Devona, Kihm, Sogolon and Eve.

Now just hack away at him until he's at about 25% health and starts using Impossible Odds. If you're a warrior, keep pounding on him, your armor should keep you alive. If you're not, move away from him or die. Your squishy henches should kite from him, and Koss and Devona can tank IO with Dunkoro, Kihm and Sogolon healing them.

I used the following build on a few attempts:

"Watch Yourself!"
Dolyak sig
Shield of Regeneration
Healing Breeze
Mending
Wild Blow
Sever Artery
Gash

Along with my Armor 80 +20 vs Physical and Superior Absorption Insignia with +10 vs physical and Superior Vigor.

End game green shield from Factions Armor 16, -5 DMG 20% and health +30

Katana of Defense with +5 defense all the time.

One spell brings me down from 570 health to less than a hundred and the only reason I don't die is because I ran.

Unless they nurfed this mission this morning tanking Shiro while he is almost dead is almost impossible.

I also tried Gladiators defense and Bonetti's defense a few times.

This may be repetitive compared to the other posts, but this how I did it:

I beat it with masters with a decent pug. I was a W/N and brought Grenth's Balance and Wild Blow. When we got to the Lich and Shiro, Lich hit me down to 120 or so, and I used Grenths Balance to steal about 450+ health from him in return. The rest of the team managed to get him down easily from there. Lich shouldnt be a huge problem, or you have a bad group.

While fighting Lich we avoided Shiro as much as possible. Once Lich was down, we ran to the 5 shrines or whatever they are (still avoiding shiro as much as possible) and took over all 5 shrines for masters. Finally, we went after shiro. Make it clear to your teamates that RIGHT when he casts impossible odds, back away, spread out, and dont touch him for a few seconds.

Also, the Warrior (which was me) must have Wild Blow to knock Shiro out of his Battle Scars stance RIGHT when he casts it. Similar skills can be used to stop stances... but i dont know those skills' names.

So a few major tips:
1) Someone needs wild blow to knock shiro out of the Battle Scars stance whenever he uses it.
2) Dont group together too close when fighting shiro, or Impossible odds will destroy the group. And when Impossible Odds is casted, the group should spread out and hold off attacking for a few seconds.
3) Kill Lich first, go for shrines, then hit Shiro last if you want masters. I'm sure you want it so you dont have to do this mission twice
4) Grenths balance is nice for doing a big chunks of damage, but the group could survive without it.
5) Discuss all this before hand with the team. A perfect pug is not needed, just proper planning and discussion. A few of us died along the way too (at the shirokens and portal wraiths), and still managed to do masters.

Good luck, I would come help you guys out but I have done it 3 times in the past 2 days: 1) failure, 2) only got the mission done 3) got mission with masters. Maybe after I get some sleep

Yeah we all pretty much did it in the order specified. Faught to the temple and then killed the Lich which was super easy. Then we went and got all five shrines, then we proceded with Shiro.

Getting there was easy with a pug. No one died untill we got Shiro down to impossible odds level.

Then I threw up Shield Stance and he hit me only once again for 50 or so dmg. We just killed him after that no problem. I was suprised I didn't get raped by it actually.
Up until the October 31st update, The Elonian AI was "bugged"/"Glitched"/"something", and were only targeting the highest AL opponent (Always a warrior..duh), So it was like the Gear Trick without even needing a Gear lol.

EDIT: Just beat it with henchies, The trick for me was NOT to bring a spoil/curses necro. I just brought a MM. and carried spoil myself. It was TONS TONS TONS easier than the advice to stack up on necros in the party.

The trick is ALL in how you flag your heros/henchies at the end of the mission - Once he is around ~20% he stops teleporting around and starts useing IO. Flag your heros away from him (not too far away) and Devona and Koss will Leeroy back to him, his IO will only hit them then

I finally beat this mission after hours and hours and hours of wasted effort.

SV or equivalent is pretty much required for this mission. My friend an I attempted the mission several more times last night and finally by the hair of our teeth beat his sorry arse!

I HATE THIS MISSION! It makes me want to play a different game...lol Thanks the 5 gods it's over!

I finally beat it with a group. We didn't have any necro or any special abilities. We simply killed the linch then pulled Shiro up the steps and would attack and when he used impossible odds we would *scatter!* Shiro eventually went down after quite some time though I think only one or two people died during that fight.

This mission still seems extremely unfair to me though even though I have completed it now and like the poster above I seriously was getting on the net to see what other online games there were. I still hope A.Net fixes it because Shiro should not be that much stronger than the Linch.

I completed it on the first attempt with two othe players and rest henchies. Of course, I was setup as an MM not expecting Shiro to make a return. The warrior had arond -40 DP and it seemed we didn't have enough damage to defeat him.... until that is, we managed to use Kormir, body block him after which he wouldn't attack or use any skills and gradually killed him. If it weren't for body blocking him, we would have had to restart that mission.

You can hench/hero it, I did it 2nd try after getting a right kicking the 1st. I took Jin (interupt), Whispers (MM), Zed (fire ele), although not sure on how useful the ele was regarding the shiro bit, he was of more use for getting to shiro. Jin did a great job though and got him a few times as he tried to cast IO.

Don't try to fight him inside, pull him up the ramp to near were the last rift was. Use careful flagging of your henchies, i.e. watch how far shiro will come out the door and place your flag accordingly. Then pull shiro and keep chipping away at him, if your henchies are far enough out the door he will walk up so far as you pull him then turn around and walk back as you back off, just keep trying to get him to do this and chip away at him. Occasionally he'll kill a henchie or two but if he starts wiping your team just walk back more and he will turn and go back.

I was a blood necro and it tooks some time to kill him but you get there in the end. The undead lich on the other hand is not much of a problem, just chip at him when he comes up and shiro is walking back, don't try to kill the lich while shiro is anywhere near you.

I hope that helps.

The best way to kill him is for the tank to run in circle while caster kill it

What we ended up doing was pulling him to the door of the temple. Then used Spoil Victor on him and ran backout in the open when he used impossible odds. He would then run back to the temple. Repeat and wash.

You need to counter two things:
Impossible Odds (Main Offense)
http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Impossible_Odds

Battle Scars (Main Defense AND Offense)
http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Battle_Scars

Forget about Riposting Shadows. It's a joke compared to his other little lovelies and he doesn't use the other two skills of his anyways.
Now to beat Shiro, you must find a way to counter both of the above skills. Luckily, you can counter it with a single condition: Blind. Blind washes the stripes out of that tiger and really makes him an easy enemy. But you must be aware to constantly re-apply it to him, you should maybe have one of your heroes dedicated to playing the GVG E/Mo Build with Blinding Flash and manually tell him to constantly cast Flash on Shiro.
You should also bring Wild Blow. This is to break Battle Scars and cut his healing for that rare case when his attacks manage to break through. Battle Scars has a recharge of 11, Wild Blow has a recharge of 5. Perfect to keep him out of it.

Blind isnt that effective really, unless like you said you waste a hero slot or your own bar on just CONSTANTLY reapplying it and not caring that your warriors are probably going to stay blind too because of IO.

No, Its just much more simple and fast to Wild Blow his Battle Scars and just take his IO like others have suggested...Scatter (You know, Its funny how many people are at that mission and SWORE TO GOD that I was crazy for thinking you could tell henchies and heros where to go...even though a primary quest teachs you how...). Either way you arent wasting any slot then just for the Shiro Fight. Plenty of PuGs fail there because they bring crazy builds with like 6 necros and/or monks or even crazier CripShot Degen builds and just get FREAKIN WIPED at the Portals or even worse most of the time not even making it to the Shiroken because they forgot I guess that this mission isnt only fighting Shiro - You have to acutally MAKE IT TO SHIRO to fight him.

Bring Spoil Victor, Wild Blow, and Protective Spirit.

One thing that people seem to forget is, don't hit with a 150 damage Vapor Blade when he's in Battle Scars. You might not have the time to Wild Blow him in that case. If you brought nukers for the first part of the mission, consider disabling their high-damage skills before fighting Shiro.
